I hope we are all upstanding citizens but none of us are doing shite with our lives. I go to the gym and that keeps me driven and my confidence up. We aint even representing our local piggly wiggly in the pie contests.
We are nobodies. Wolves dont pay attention to the sheep. No big deal.

You can consider yourself a "nothing" but I dont. I work to do the best with my life. I dont judge the quality or sucess of my life by how fast I can run, far I can jump or if I can bounce a ball. I value and appreciate my life much more than that.
There are way more things to life than sports or pie eating contests.

You are a rich man but you cant take your new house to the grave. You're basically a nobody unless you have a legacy that survives your fall.. Being rich isn't uncommon in a wealthy world.

The fact that you think it is about money shows that you have a lot to learn
And I hope you figure it out Jang.

I am telling you its not about money. Far from it.
It's about legacy.

Since it's beginning, the Olympics have added or removed games. This is not new,. You, like me, are just getting older.

You don’t think people around here will have legacies?

I believe that even break dancing requires a significant amount of athleticism and skill. I practice Jiu Jitsu and striking, which are integral parts of MMA when you consider the judo/wrestling involved. I guess weightlifters aren't athletic either if you go by some standards

Auburns track team almost won a NC and many/most were foreign students. Olympic sports are that way. (Swimming). The question will become is what value these sports bring to their colleges and at what cost. America is unique in Universities have such robust sports teams.

Apparently no, if you cant run fast, jump high, dribble a ball or dance on your head

Maybe temporarily for the immediate family (4 people?) while they are mentally sharp and that's assuming every member of the family was positively touched in their heart to keep the flame burning.
Weagle...Jang...Suni..Princess Diana
That's the order of legacy

I used to live in Florence Alabama and the UNA basketball coach then relied on foreign players from Australia, Germany, etc in recruiting. I think it is great we can offer great opportunity for real talent to have a great life while representing our school.

I mean that’s still wrong but I see what you’re saying.
You think all but like 10 people in each generation are nobodies. How many people do you think are remembered past the next generation? You think Suni Lee is remembered past the next generation?
Even Princess Diana will fade into obscurity quicker than you think.

She has a distinction of being one of the best female Auburn athletes in Auburn history so she will have a pocket of Auburn fans.
She also goes down in Olympic history for her 6 medals. She wont be greatest ever or anything, but I am sure she will have a following that will share her story just like someone else around Atalla shares the story of Caddillac or Freddie Weygand

I started this thread so I will say that I understand this point. It is like NIL now for football, basketball and baseball but my point is what if everyone was equal---SO no foreign based athletes on any team. Why not offer the chance to American kids. I understand that the South African might be the faster swimmer but if he cannot swim for our against you then who cares.

At the end of them day I wanted the Us to absolutely crubstomp every other country in everything. Beat them absolute crap out of them.
So why help then with extra traing, nutrition and competition.

I would have never come over to the US if the same was true for education and remember these are student athletes and many go on to get an education. I met my wife at AU and we ended up living here to be close to AU. Between me and wife, we have six engineering degrees. I only have two but the wife has four and works on Space and DoD stuff all for the benefit of the US. I have provided jobs directly or indirectly to maybe 150 Americans over the past 20+ yrs. We still cheer for our home country in sports if they are playing but otherwise it’s always the US. Part of the reason the US is #1 in the world is because it welcomes everyone and their talents. I have lived, worked and experienced many different countries and cultures and the US is by far the best. All one needs to do is get out if possible and experience a few other places in the world.

Also the mention of an athlete from Auburn and the mention of Auburn by the broadcasters is marketing for Auburn to get more athletes to look here for their choice for excellence in sports.
EDIT: Okay I watched some "Matches" of Breaking and I take it all back, that shouldn't be an olympic sport.
