There are currently 9 open HC jobs at the FBS level, 5 of them at P5 schools (LSU, VPI, Southern Cal, Washington & Wazzu). And there’s still two more weeks in the regular season. There are at least a half dozen more jobs that may open up by December, maybe more.
I am about 95% certain that Mason will at least get interest in the off season, if not for one of the current vacancies, but for schools looking to replace an HC who fills one of them.
Given the push for more black HCs, I’m sure he will be a hot property. If Willie Taggart can keep getting gigs, there’s no reason to think that Mason won’t be an attractive candidate.

Let’s hope so

I just think Mason needs all the right pieces to be completely effective, and he doesn't quite have that with both corners, the DL, some ILBs. Then there's the glaring hole with our defense, little rotation, but I think there is some small depth there that was underutilized

Never thought mason was a good hire. Would love to be wrong but I don’t see him being at AU longer than year 2.

For his defense to be really effective, he’d need a Derrick Brown type nose guard. And those guys don’t come around very often, so most years it’s not going to be very good. Bringing extra pressure can mask a lot of deficiencies, but Mason loves his prevent style.

If you aren't ready to fire Mason yet just go read todday's film room at The Auburn Observer (Justin Ferguson). It's like Mason had money on Miss St.
man like I said at some point you go bump and run, brackets, man with zone behind it anything but sit back and let it come to you. Glad Ferg is exposing him

I have to admit, earlier in the year I thought the idea of Muschamp Rd 3 was very dumb. Buy right about now, I think it would be brilliant.

David Shaw makes almost $9mm at Stanford and they're currently sitting at 3-7 with Cal and ND left. Cal's pretty bad, so that ones a toss up, but they won't beat ND. They were 4-8 in 2019 and 4-2 last year only playing 6 games. I can't imagine he makes it much longer there.
I could see them coming after someone like Mason and offering maybe $2mm.
