Whatever happened to the Auburn Creed?

Good for him. Auburn looks good when they can put players in the NFL. I hope he does well.

Everyone I knew that is close with Corey at school all thought he would come back. I mean they all said he was thinking about it but would end up back at AU.
He told ESPN that his draft grade was 3rd round. WTF Was he thinking? Did he really not want to play under Ellis Johnson or something?

Corey is 6'4" 250lbs with a motor, long arms, and good passrushing speed and skills....
He's the PERFECT 3-4 pass-rushing OLB...the Jets and Ravens need one BAD. Makes their whole defense work. So he's a hot commodity...coming back to AU would be just plain stupid.

Oh really? Hmmm....I read different....

15. New York JetsRecord: 6-7Jake Matthews*, OT, Texas A&M Yes, the Jets have a quarterback need, but replacing Mark Sanchez with Barkley would be like trying to kick a Diet Coke habit by substituting Diet Pepsi. New York will almost certainly look to bring in a veteran if it chooses to upgrade at quarterback. The Jets' pass defense is surprisingly good despite the team having only 22 total sacks, but they still need a legitimate edge rusher. However, they're on the wrong end of a run on ends in this scenario. They could reach for a player such as Auburn's Corey Lemonier, but they also need a right tackle and Matthews is on the rise with his toughness in the run game and good hands in pass protection.

28. Baltimore RavensRecord: 9-4Corey Lemonier*, DE/OLB, Auburn The Ravens would continue a youth movement on defense with this pick. Lemonier might not come off the board this high, but he's an underrated prospect who played hard all season long on a bad defense. He's versatile and tough, has explosive upfield burst, closes quickly and shows some pop at the point of attack.

quote:No, there are multiple 3-4 OLBs in this draft who are all better at rushing the passer and defending the run than Corey. He would've been well-served to polish up another year and go next season. Damontre Moore, Jarvis Jones, Barkevious Mingo, Dion Jordan, and Sam Montgomery are all the same type player Corey is and better.
He's the PERFECT 3-4 pass-rushing OLB
And I'm not even mad he's going, if he wants to go ahead and get to the league, more power to him. I'm just mad about his effort and performance the last 8 games. He mailed it in

You, me, and everyone else on this board knows that the ESPN rankings don't mean jack shite.

JGT saying that Lemonier has yet to talk to any agents, meaning he still has his amateur status intact.

You all hatin haters, who hate to see a hated man make it in the NFL. Hate to see what you do when you lovin lovers love to see a loved man make it to the NFL. Probably gross shite and all.

All of those guys are rated higher than him, but how does that not still make him a perfect 3-4 pass-rushing OLB? There are 32 teams in the NFL, more than half run the 3-4 or a Hybrid scheme...he's a hot commodity. Doesn't really matter if we think he mailed it in...I for one don't think so, and neither do the NFL scouts. And that's all that matters.

Hes not ready for the NFL...period. Some agent got in his fricking head...what adumbass. I hope he doesn't listen to Todd McShay.
Yeah and that "dumbass" will make more money in five years than you will in an entire lifetime. Is that why you're so anally gaped over it? Grow the frick up, it's his life.
ETA: I selfishly wanted him to stay for his senior year.

We could be seeing Lawson starting from day 1.

The one thing that pisses me off about this is Corey Lemonier talking to Joe Schad. There should always be a "frick off" when Joe dials you up.

Exactly. As long as he makes a roster he is making minimum 4 million$ in the next 5 years. If he makes starter/contributor status he could make 12-15 million$ minimum in his career even if he is out the league be 28. I think his draft stock would be higher with another year at AU but I can't fault hte kid for leaving
ETA: Lemonier has not retained an agent according to rivals so he still has his amateur status if he decides to back out

Good luck to ya, Corey. I'd do the same thing if I was in the same position.

Not to mention Jarvis Jones when he declares.
