Portal officially opens tomorrow and we haven’t announced coordinators yet? This is kind of odd to me. Anyone else? I know other coaches recruit just as much, often more, than the coordinators. Just seems weird.

I watched Deion’s video telling his team that he was leaving and he told his JSU players don’t hit the portal because they’d get lost and screwed in it. It was an amazing video because you can tell he cares about his players. He shoots them straight. He explained why he was leaving: “coaches either get elevated or terminated”
Deion gives zero fricks about the current Colorado team. They can all enter the portal lol.
Deion will put together a good staff and sign great recruiting classes. Two things greygoose and AUveritas said he wouldn’t be able to do.
Can’t wait.

I think it would be ideal to have coordinators announced, yeah. Could they be privately told to transfers? Maybe. My assumption is that the coordinators are figured out.
The portal is weird and I say this every year. There’s 2 groups. There’s the guys that enter the portal knowing where they’re going. They don’t really take visits and they’re not really going through a recruitment process. Typically, these are the top guys. And then there’s a group of guys that enter, take visits, then decide. Either way, having coordinators probably doesn’t change either group’s mind today. But if we’re into January it really matters for the second group

Good review of the portal and coaches. If we aren’t already someone’s destination that is a top transfer we have no chance of them coming anyway.
The only thing that could alter that now would be a NIL offer that is too good to pass up if everything else is equal.

Kiffin is so good at the portal because he sells the short term, the system, and fit. He doesn’t really try to connect the kid to the city, facilities, tradition, or whatever else. It’s all business. As Kiffin has put it, the guys he’s recruiting in the portal have been through all that circus and wooing and now it’s about maximizing their time and ability.
I hope Freeze gets that.

Good points about how Kiffin works the portal. One of the reasons I supported him coming. Portal game is needed in this era of CFB.
