You have to ignore the young impressionable Prime timing clique. They are the modern day version of Turner Gill 2.0.

We want a leader not a loser. I'll take Gill, I love Gardner, hell Brady Hoke, even Patrick Nix! ANY OF THEM ANY OF THEM EXCEPT HIM!

What you are underestimating is the ability to sell the program. Just as our basketball program needed a master salesman that brought everyone together, so does our football program now, especially with NIL and portal.

Auburn has always made bad to mediocre coaches look great. Not the other way around.

ETA: And Auburn NEEDS to take a major “risk” right now. Not saying Prime IS the answer but we definitely need a master salesman that UNITES ALL FRONTS.

One of these things, are very much not like the other. Bruce Pearl was a very known entity before we hired him. A proven winner with a ton of experience.

All hires are a risk. Then we get to what is being suggested by several on here. Outside of signing a couple of sought after recruits, there is absolutely nothing else to go on. Objective people realize this, and the others throw around terms like "it factor" as justification. If you want us united, this would be the opposite of that. There are absolutely no indicatiors that someone with zero coaching experience at the D-1 level, would be successful as a 1st time HC of a very major program.

I'm almost certain the guys tasked with writing the next check to a coach, realize this. If not, and things go as many expect, imagine just how fractured our whole program and fanbase will be at that point. Fire and pay off Malzahn, hire and fire Harsin after two seasons, then hire some with a resume that could fit on a postage stamp.

Marshall was awesome and a perfect fit for the offense that we ran, at the time. BUT......if you think Gus "developed" him, you are sadly mistaken. His stats for his 2 years on the Plains, are almost identical. Think about that for a second. He transferred from UGA, where he was a DB. Gus put him at QB, a position he hadn't played since HS. He played pretty good, but no real change from day one, until he was drafted into the NFL, as a DB.

Now do Bo Nix. A kid Gus had from day one, straight out of HS, playing the position he was recruited for.

Greygoose, you still seem to be lost.

Nobody here wants Deion first choice. People would rather take a chance on him than a retread that you seem to love though. That’s the difference. Freeze has wins but they burned down and he didn’t prove be able to run a program. He actually failed miserably.

Deion is a guy we can go get now and if that doesn’t work out, we can still go get Freeze later if we must. Nobody worth their salt will be going after Freeze anytime soon.

I’m not a Gus stan but The Wizard threw for 600 more yards and 6 more TDs in his second season. So this is a lie.

Now does it have anything to do with Gus’ development? Probably not. Just not gonna stand for any NM slander however unintentional it may be.

I hope you aren't serious. Do you see just how far behind we are, compared to our rivals? How long will it take to recover if Sanders doesn't work out? Decades?

I was in no way comparing coaching credentials between the 2. Only comparing their sales ability. Nothing more, nothing less.

Fearmongering if it doesn’t work out seems to be your only justification anywhere.

Your “safe bets” aren’t any safer, brAUther!

You mentioning how far behind we are only strengthens my pitch it’s time to take a gamble.

Feldman on Big Noon Kickoff mentioning Auburn and Deion by name. Nothing reliable but interesting to hear that connection outside of this message board.

So 600 yards and a handful of TDs is “development?” Considering how much more we passed in 2014 vs 2013 it should be expected.

This isn’t a hit on Marshall but on Gus and his lack of ability to develop

Things can change, but Freeze wanted it two years ago. I believe he still does. I Trust who told me.

Nothing is done till it is done.

An Auburn beat reporter on another board claims he has a great relationship with CHF, talks to him with some frequency. Thinks CHF deserves a second chance. Intimates CHF wants the job but he won't say where the discussions are at. To the extent you believe said reporter, you could infer from what he did say and his level of coyness that there is significant discussion with CHF taking place.
