Franklin has underwhelmed at PSU. He wouldn't be even on the table if he was succeeding there. Similar to Freeze, he also has a lot of baggage as well.

The thing we're now hitting is that Kiffin was the most "everyone is on board" hire... at this point other candidates are coming off the board and/or have issues that will divide people.

Rhule - GONE - I think people would have liked him but gone now.
Dabo - Bammer and unrealistic
Freeze - Morality issues
Urban - Morality issues
Johnson - I personally dislike this hire. Has never been a head coach. He's been a college coach before but not a head coach.
Fickell - likely GONE - Not from the southeast. If he does well here likely jumps to Ohio State at some point.
Prime - No big time coaching experience. Would be high risk high reward
Franklin - Would he come back down south? I think some also just don't like him for whatever reason.

It is pretty evident the President and AD here are damn near incompetent at AU. Throw that on what happened with Harsin whether for right or wrong, lots of good coaches don’t want to deal with that shite.
