Kiffin + Muschamp would be a very interesting pairing. If Muschamp is satisfied being a coordinator, which he has proven to be great at wherever he goes, that could be a long term dream for us.

If AU reps are letting this info out, there’s a reason. Probably a smokescreen. Am I being too skeptical or could it actually be true info?

Hoke just wrote an article saying AU reps are talking to Sexton and Lane. Contract will be at least 10 million a year, maybe as high as 12. Muschamp could be the DC choice.

Are we stupid enough to give a Jimbo type contract? My lord. Just hire Freeze for $5 mil a year

Interesting indeed. I mean, he’s as close to the situation as you can get. For more context his comments were made on a post that had a graphic that linked Lane to the Auburn job.

I could get behind Muschamp as DC though he did leave an awful taste in my mouth when he left in 2015. But he did recruit us Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson which made Steeler’s defense look better than it probably was. He’s a great recruiter and can call a pretty good game. I also think a Lane and Muschamp pairing would be very interesting personality wise.

Not at all how Roberts has operated which is why I think the Lane talk is BS.

Freeze is settling at this point and just invites a shite storm of unwanted attention.

A new AD and new President are not going to hire NCAA scandal, prostitute scandal, creepy behavior to high school girls, messaging sexual assault victims that would ruin this sudden burst of momentum we have in the program. He is way too toxic.

Why? He got an opportunity to go be an SEC HC again and took it.

I also have always kinda credited him with turning Auburn defenses around last decade. From 2008-2014 we were always mediocre at best (even the natty team). In 2015 the defense still wasn't great but they started visibly playing harder, swarming to the ball, and tackling so much better. And of course he brought in a few elite recruits. The defense has been mostly good to great since 2016.

1) Hugh Freeze's new contract at Liberty already pays him "just under" $5 mill a year. He'd get an SEC bump regardless here because that's how that works. Do you realize that Eli Drinkwitz just got bumped up to $6 mill a year at Missouri, and he has a losing record there?

2) Can you people just stop with the penny-pinching counter-arguments as if anyone is asking you for money to make this hire?

This is going to be the cost of making a statement hire moving forward in 2023 and beyond. The market has been set and regardless of what you think about it, you either learn that fact or you take your seat at the Kiddy Table with Vanderbilt and company.

What some of you need to understand is that all of these SEC schools are getting a MASSIVE influx of cash with all the reorganization and super-conference moves that are happening in the next few years. The TV payout alone is more than doubling I believe.

The coaches know this as do their agents. You can't go back in time, and now that the market has been set, what do you think the contracts moving forward are going to look like?

Not being too skeptical.
You can easily reason that Kiffin is not a good fit for AU. Or not worth it.
Who is behind the smokescreen though? Lanning? (or Sean Payton )

It’s not that he left after one year. If you remember the Alabama game that year he was, in my opinion, acting way out of control on the sidelines. Screaming, throwing fits, getting a personal foul penalty. He just seemed totally out of control and looked like a psycho. I get that you have to show emotions sometimes but what he did in that game left a bad taste in my mouth for him.

That's kinda how WM looks on the sidelines. There is video of him and Saban doing just that at LSU lol

10 had been thrown around alot, but 12?

Would love to have Muschamp back. Best Auburn DC ever besides Wayne Hall.
