1. Dan Mullen
2. DJ Durkin
3. Bill Clark
4. Chad Morris

If Gus can't get it together, these would be my choices. The problem is, we'll probably go on a tear for the next month and look highly competitive again. The way we lost was absolutely stunning but it's still only one loss. Although it seems doubtful, all of our preseason goals are still attainable..

I don't gauge AU based off what bama does. # 2 in the SEC has been ripe for the taking, but no school wants to or will not do what's needed to make it happen. No ITAT conspiracy, we need a long list of folks to say "No", that includes Dabo, plus some NFL coaches. No retread this time, or someone who is an AU Man (whatever that means).

Folks always complain about winners. Why is he a moron? Serious question, I don't know him personally. He is at a plug & play level that I wish AU would get to.

He's a douche, not a moron. And he has too much bammer in him to come here, he hates us. That's why he has Clemson play us like the damn super bowl.

But I would take him to replace Gus tomorrow morning, without hesitation, if possible.
I hate him, but he's a good HC that gets results. He knows how to hire, and keep, the best assistants, recruits love him, and most importantly he wins.

Of course like I said he's such a bammer and hates it so much, he might actually come here just to Manchurian Candidate us and sink Auburn from the inside.

Tbh so many decisions that Gus makes are so incredibly retarded and inexplicable, especially in regards to gameday and game prep, that I've been beginning to wonder if Gus is a Manchurian Candidate sent by Arky. They've been letting us know them out to throw us off the scent, but I'm into them dammit

Except that every successful coaching hire since 2000 (2+ BCS/CFP appearances from coach) has come from these groupings / don't meet your criteria

- Promoted Coordinator/ position coach
- Top coordinator at other school
- Hired non P5 coach
- CFB coaches who washed out of NFL (No current candidates)

There are 3 notable exceptions, these guys wouldn't meet your criteria though

LSU - Les Miles hired from Okie St after win% of 57%
LSU - Nick Saban hired from Mich St after win% of 57%
OSU - Urban Meyer hired from "retirement"

Highest profile hires directly from P5 schools have failed

Ark - Bret Bielema 3 BCS at Wisc, 0 at Ark
USC - Lane Kiffin from UTk
Mich - Rich Rodriguez 2 BCS at WVU

I didn't say he was the only hire. Yes, if Gus tanked this on purpose, that would make more sense than this was an actual game plan or long term plan that was agreed on by all coaches, KS included.

Dabo was also the 2nd coach that publically touted NFL money as some type of symbiotic relationship with recruits.

I only care about results, not some "feel good" stuff.

He comes across very dumb in interviews. But moron come from his main job of game management. He routinely makes bonehead decisions in games. Like last year when he passed on the fieldgoal and gave us the ball back with the chance to win.

There's also no reason to leave Clemson to come to Auburn even if he wasn't a bammer. Historically, Clemson isn't that far off from Auburn. Auburn smokes them in football revenue, but given they just upgraded all their facilities to top of the line that gap is clearly closing

When top 5-10 programs like Texas, USCw, LSU and UF are hiring non P5 HCs, coach O or promoted OCs, not sure why people think Auburn can go out and steal an elite top 5 coach

All the programs above can match Auburn $ for $ and offer better recruiting base

AU currently has the worst "game manager" that I have ever witnessed, and also very bad at interviews.

No other coach has any hardware. I'd support Merlins, as he is the only coach in the SEC that can make an argument as the 2nd best. Ironically, Gus is still 2nd best if going off trophies. Maybe folks on ITAT have something to that conspiracy. Yes, I have been drinking, still cannot shake Sat.

Fleck is interesting to me because he is driven on the level of a Saban. hard arse mentality who doesnt know what fail means.

Bill Clark is a solid coach. it would also drive bammers off the deep end the first time he beat them. he is more driven than I have ever seen since the drama with being shut down. he and his AD also cant stand each other. he would be coaching southern miss right now if it werent for Ingram. he probably will be scooped up by a bigger team this year.
