And there it is from 247:

"We're told Auburn OC Austin Davis has not been on the road recruiting with the team for the past few days and is not present on campus for junior day today. Don't have much more to share on the matter for now."

Could be COVID I suppose but Harsin may have been Tracy Rocker'd.

Now that's the widest ranging options I've ever seen.

Covid to Rocker'd

The interim hc of the Raiders this year is the one that left us after about a week years ago wasn't he? He was hired for ST. Chizik was coach then I believe.

edit: He was hired in 2013 under Malzahn.

Yep if true we can probably expect OC Kieasu and Boise fans did not have many good things to say about him as an OC (liked him as position coach)

Hoke just put out an update. He hasn't been out recruiting and he's not present at the JR Day, but Hoke says that he knows that Davis and his family took time off after taking the AU job and that Harsin approved this. There hasn't been any word that he's leaving or anything like that.

If this was just planned time out then why not come out at say something? Harsin playing "i'm not going to tell anybody anything" can bite you at times like this.

HArsin plays everything tight and close knit.

We won't know until someone actually inside the circle puts it out there...

Because Davis’s season just ended I’m sure Harsin is just giving the guy a break.

Also said in that same Hoke thread is that Davis hasn't been assigned as recruiting staff because we're not trying to sign a QB for the signing period. Trovon is recruiting in his place. IDK how that works or if true but it makes logical sense.

I hope Trovon is camping out in Citizen's front yard.

But he recruiting last week. There is at least one article of a QB having contact with him.

I find the narrrative that we don’t want the people who is supposed to be the leader of half the team out recruiting to be weird unless we are admitting he is OC in name only and is really only the QB coach.

I don't think the OC should or would be taking time off during junior day

Hopefully he is just getting his life transferred to Auburn. I do think it is a critical time to miss.

The only way I can see an OC wanting to miss junior day is if he had something pre-plannned before he took the job which has happened to me before on job changes. Took a job once and had vacation planned for 2 weeks after my start date I had already paid for. Luckily they worked with me.

But do agree you pretty much do want your OC at Junior day especially since we have a highly sought after QB who made the trip.

That does make sense. Use Reed as much as you can.

I agree. It’s overblown to worry about your QB coach being there for jr day.

Most important is the HC and some other assistants.

Although the NFL season has been over for 3 weeks for Seattle not sure how much time AD needed to take a break on.

yeah we have at least one 2024 QB recruit at junior day. No need for the OC/QB coach to be there.,

He was involved in on-campus visits last weekend.

One of the posters on 247 who is well respected and normally knows what they are talking about mentioned that Davis was recruiting last week and involved in recruiting last weekend on-campus. I asked if they knew why not this weekend and the response was either sick or considering another opportunity and if the latter we likely won’t hear until after signing day.

Hopefully he’s sick.

JGT said yesterday Davis was off attending to a family matter.

Btw, the long arse melt I had last page was very cleansing. I still believe what I said but reading that page again, I’m surprised I said all that shite.

Everyone needs a good cry every now and then.

If somehow Davis does leave and Kiesau is promoted, we are burning this motherfricker down. It’s already partially burned down but I’m burning the rest.
