Dillingham is winning at Arizona State.

Isn’t it quite fascinating the coaches that get away from Gus end up very successful while he still can’t get out of his own way a la his best friend Hugh Freeze?

So Dillingham had his QB lose 45 yards on 3 plays.

Then throw a pass to run clock out.

Should have been intentional grounding.

Fans storm.

After review, 1 second left.

Hail Mary to 2 yards line, caught!

Not a TD though.

Came 1 yard short of being one the worst coaching decisions since Crystalballs not taking a knee last season.

There are a couple Auburn fans I know that for some reason think T Will should be our head coach. Looking at Arky today……..yikes!

Shane Beamer did a great job today. Had them focused, organized, kept his cool and let his players do their job.

And he’s not going anywhere. Just like his daddy.
He will stay put and make a name himself there.

At this point, having Freeze stay is the right thing to do and even though I have zero confidence we will ever be great with him, we will certainly get better.

I have zero confidence we will be great with him, but I also don’t think we’ll get much better. I think 7 wins is probably the ceiling with Freeze. We got considerably more talented as a team this season, and had no idea how to use the talent we had. Freeze’s last team at Ole Miss was super talented, and they won 5 games. Guy is the biggest fraud in college football. A snake oil salesman.

Hugh needs to do what he does best, which is managing people and stop trying to be a tactician. It's not his forte, his strong front, blessing, or whatever way you wish to describe him. And (to me) it should be easy for such a person to find a competent tactical mind, for both offense and defense, and that he still has a little wiggle room time wise. It's not like the rest of his functions are intolerable or absolutely lacking.

So I can see him going full term as team manager, but not if he stays game manager, it's simply not his wheel house and it's a mission critical in the SEC.

Lashley is Gus 2.0, SMU has way more speed and trying to run straight ahead instead of outside. Ran the same dive play on 2nd and 3rd down for 3 yards combined.

But he can’t prevent his QB from making a dumb read and not taking the first down and going for the kill shot, or throwing a pick six. Same thing happening like with Clemson.

Does the board that hates Freeze and loves Elko realize Freeze beat Elko while A&M had a steep talent advantage?

Yes, absolutely

I’ll now admit my support for Elko has waned

Too bad Dilly Dilly is @ his Alma Mater

Let’s go get Glenn Schumann @ GA once Freezy flames out and melts. When your players have such mad respect for a coach that they call him a “guru” you have something there. Only 34 and worked for both Saban and Smart. Let’s ride!
