Yet the senior had to watch a freshman piss his basketball career away. The Ronnie tech was stupid (off another terrible whistle), but Harper did countless stupid things to keep that game close, and single-handedly lost it at the end. That foul on Missouri at the end that put us up 4 was BS, and the team still didn't have enough direction to win.

Harper had a bad last 1/3 of a season. He just doesn't make good decisions with the ball. Too many bad shots without understanding the game situation.

It was stupid to put it in his hands. We have a couple good FT shooters on this team and he isn't one of them.

Why is Harper our end of game Pg?
He can't hit FTs (especially not in pressure), he frequently has trouble getting the ball and he is turnover prone

It is middle school level coaching to get the ball to your best FT shooter in a situation like that and we have him throwing it in.

They were trying to intentionally foul Harper.

Bruce is honestly a garbage in game coach.
I think as guys get older/experienced a lot of that will be offset by their BBall IQ, but in game Bruce coaches like our FR play
For example, something Bruce has failed at all year
Kevin Puryear had 3 fouls in 1H, he ended the game w 3 fouls. The mofo switched on screens regularly and we never attacked him

It was poor decision after poor decision in regulation and OT just topped it off.

This isn't even my complaint really
We don't take advantage of situations.
Opponents best player or rim defender has 4 fouls? Maybe we should attack him
We have 50s left? Well frick our normal 15s pace let's wind the clock down the full 30s shot clock instead of 2 for 1 possessions
We have a TO and need to inbound all with 20s left? Well let's just not use it because we have been great all year at breaking the press
It's the end of game and we will be shooting FTs? Let's use our 70% FT shooting FR Pg who struggles in the clutch /late game TOs instead of our SR PG who is slightly better Ft shooter
Late in the game and we need to shoot FTs, wins down clock and defend 3FG? Let's just make sure Dunans, our 55% FT shooter who frequently leaves 3FG open and shoots shitty shots early in shot clock stays in the whole time

Bruce needs to go out and find a great young guy to coach who "gets it"
Specifically someone who'd have played PG for a Gonzaga type team. Everyone knows "those guys" who aren't athletic but are so damn basketball smart + know every trick in the book
