Here's one. You must have skipped right over it when you actually responded to it

You missed the rule changes on how fouls are called? You can't full court press anymore. They'll call a foul. He is absolutely correct.

Gene, please look at the defensive rankings when Bruce was at UT. They sucked. I still think he can and will do some good things here but defense has never been his strength.

Of all the things to criticize, you pick playing Bowers as an emergency PG?

Maybe if your parents didn't feed you paint chips as a child you'd have seen me address this point

Don't bother trying to explain things to Chex. He clearly doesn't bother to learn shite about Auburn basketball

Worst player i have ever watched. And he had more double doubles than anyone else on the team. It was fricking painful watching him play and Bruce let him do it.

I hadnt heard that running a full court press is a foul now in basketball. Crazy, i swear i saw Alabama do it to us and almost come back to win in TTown a couple weeks ago.

You won't see anyone running a full court press for an entire game anymore. You'll have players with two fouls early with swiftness with the rule changes. Refs have called over 50 fouls in each of our last three home games. I couldn't imagine how many they'd call if we pressed all game.

Refs have called an insane amount of fouls on Auburn for years now, which leads back to lack of discipline and poor defense. All coachable

It's not effective when they call touch fouls. Stop being dense.

If you run it the whole game your entire team will end up in foul trouble by the second media timeout. This isn't hard to understand. You've already made it painfully obvious that you don't really watch college basketball.
Up tempo coaches are having to adjust. We will just have to see if Bruce is able to do that.

You cant.

So your argument is that we don't press at all?

quote:my argument is that Bruce is a good recruiter, but overrated as a coach. He does not teach defense, rebounding or discipline.

He doesnt press enough to force turnovers even when he is down double digits. Sure he uses in-bounds pressure to slow the ball down, but rarely do i see an attempt to trap, take away passing lanes and apply pressure sans the end of the game. He was known for his pressure...where is it?
Posted on 2/18/17 at 11:21 pm to ChexMix
We're top 25 in opponent turnovers per game. Pressing isn't the problem. Guys are constantly out of position and get lost defensively. My biggest problem with Bruce this year is lack of adjustments when we see something we weren't expecting. He's made numerous comments about someone doing something they haven't seen all year. He needs to figure out how to not let that completely take us out of games.

If you watched even one close game this year, you'd see that they call games differently and let contact go in the final minutes.
There is a reason no coach known for full court pressing currently employs it the whole game
