I think more than implementation is the player's understanding improving. Pearl's wrinkle on the flex gives the players a ton of freedom in changing the offense based on how they see the defense reacting

The obvious problem is as you add AAU superstars who aren't acclimated to the college game, that freedom results in them trying to be AAU heroes and taking bad shots. As the players grow and get more experience, they'll start understanding how to use the offense to their advantage.

For example, Heron rarely if ever catches the ball and immediately drives off a flex screen that gives him a defender who is off balance trailing him. Instead, he pivots and tries to set up an ISO and fails to pass off that.

It takes time for our young guys to get that at this level what the defender is doing is more important than your individual skills (unless you are Lebron good). Mustapha I believe made a comment that he didn't realize how much game film he would be watching

It's all about adjustment from AAU to college. I think you're starting to see the guys adjust, which is leading to us improving on the court. The more they adjust, the more they'll understand that they need to stay within the offense regardless of what kind of lead they have.

A big positive for me is having Wiley, Heron, Harper and Purifoy returning with experience next year. They can help the incoming freshmen make the adjustment that much smoother. They will know what kind of effort is required going into next season, and can bring that to practice. Mitchell and Okeke won't be expected to be starters the minute they step on campus, so Pearl can make them earn their minutes.

I think the matchup vs Bama will be very interesting.

They run a similar type lineup as we do when we have Purifoy. The difference is that they don't have a Wiley that can just enforce their will inside

Hopefully we can push the tempo and make them take shots from the perimeter. With that said, watch them hit everything.

They are very turnover prone, I think pushing the tempo should be a priority. They will struggle a lot on the road vs a team who does as well as we do on forcing turnovers

Pearl said on WJOX earlier that he could return. Then you have the 247 idiots' article on it: "Could Purifoy will return versus Alabama?"

From everything I've heard, he is sitting this one out. If he does end up playing, he probably won't be on the court > 5-10m

Where/when did you hear that? Last I heard is that he went through practice yesterday and looked good doing so. Not saying you are wrong because that could have re-aggravated his ankle just curious because I've been busy all day today and may have missed it.

Saw on twitter that he was telling students after the LSU game that he'd be playing Saturday. Hopefully, he's ready if he plays and not rushing back.

Let's see how long this OU/ISU game goes over. Probably 15 minutes at least.

Game is still at a pickem. Hard to believe no one is taking Auburn at home.
