It seems that a lot still have Purifoy at the 4, but I thought one advantage of adding Wiley was we could move him to his more natural position of the 3.
Purifoy's natural position in Bruce's offense is the 4

but what is keeping Spencer from playing the 4?
His game isn't like Purifoy's

I think you're giving up a lot of offense there and not gaining much of anything else. Spencer is a pretty weak rebounder if you look at stats per 40 minutes. It looks like McLemore is probably better at four if you wanted to move Purifoy, but I don't think that's ideal.

Not sure why everyone is obsessed with moving Purifoy to the 3
Purifoy is a stretch 4 in our system. It is perfect for him.

I think it's a little too small of a sample size to look at those numbers yet. Harper had a great first few games, and I think that's buoying his numbers. It also may have given him some false confidence. Again, just my perspective.

We're getting killed on the glass. Adding another big guy should help.

No it isn't, 10 games is 33% of the regular season. Fact is that Harper is 4th out of 5 in our starting lineup in shots per minute. Given that he is #2 in offensive efficiency, we should be asking him to shoot a lot more.
You don't have to like him, just know that you are basing that on your own bias and not objective fact

So you want to throw out Ronnie Johnson who is the same height?
Harper is averaging ~2.5 rebounds per game. FOr a PG that is plenty. How about you start woring about the center position which averages only 8 RPG.

Yes sir. I'll focus my worry elsewhere. That's why I said play Purifoy at the 3, with Smith at the 4.
Again, I'm not saying bench Harper, or really even reduce his playing time. I'm saying run him with a different group. Maximize his offensive efficiency when he's not surrounded by superior scorers. I'd rather have a distributor with Wiley, Purifoy, and Heron. You do see what I'm saying, right?

So you want to make us worse at both offense and rebounding?
Purifoy/Heron lead our team in rebounding from the 3/4

You do realize that Harper is the best PG distributor on the team right?
Ya I'd love Steve Nash to be our PG but he isn't on our roster.

In summary two things
Height does not make you a better rebounder. Moving Laron/Spencer to 4 won't change them being shitastic rebounders
Jared Harper is the best PG distributor on our team.l by the numbers. Your argument makes no sense because of that

The problem is he isn't playing like a 4 he's playing like a 2 or 3.
Pearl needs to put his arse on the block and have him flashing to the high post and elbow. He should be a nightmare doing that and occasionally popping out for 3s. The 1st game he was running the baseline and flashing in and out at the high post. I liked that a lot more. We didn't get him the ball enough so I guess Pearl ditched it.
Right now he's hovering outside the 3 point line handing the ball way to much and not helping us on the boards (Like he should be)
Not complaining because he's doing so well I'm just making the point that if Pearl continues to play him like this then he needs to move to 3 and we need another guy at 4 to play inside with Wiley.

A stretch 4 plays on the perimeter and supposed to be play offense like a SG/SF. That is the point. Purifoy averages 40% 3PT and 18ppg, 6RPG and ~3apg. He is playing his role just fine year 1

Pearl's offense does not run the 4 out of the high post
That would be like asking Gus to run more pro style sets under center
quote:
and not helping us on the boards
He is #2 on the team in rebounds and has lead our team in rebounds more often than not
For everyone who clearly doesn't understand Purifoy's role, take a look at Bruce's offensive diagrams for different sets
BRUCE'S 4 IS NOT A POST PLAYER ON OFFENSE

For the record, I see why ya'll want it. Purifoy would be great in a Chris Webber type high post passer role combined with 3PT shooting
Right now though, our offense can't even run through Bruce's fundamental offense smoothly. We can't add such a dramatic departure/wrinkle until our guys get the basic stuff

Sigh, I guess there's no point in continuing the conversation if you can't see my point of view.
Harper is better suited to creating his own shots from the perimeter. I'd rather see him as the scoring leader of the 2nd group (maximizing his abilities) than being forced into a distributor role with so many good scorers. I agree that he's the best PG. But, I'd rather see someone like Johnson, who doesn't have the scoring ability, take on a distributor role with the 1st group.
I know there's a lot of cross over, and Harper will still play with that group, but it gives us a better scorer off the bench.
Either way, I'm gonna move on from this discussion and hope we have a better one next time. ;)

They scored 73 or 74 on Witchita State (One of the best defensive teams in the country).
Prepare your anuS.
I'm hoping to keep them under 90
