I like the guy and like his story but he is a terrible play-by-play guy. Absolutely terrible. His voice is annoying and he is not a good football announcer. He is decent at basketball but not good enough to keep that gig. He does not sound like a big-time play-by-play guy. He sounds like a high school announcer.

How many people listen to the radio play by play? Can’t be that many?
I do like having a good one for sound bites from replays and highlights, but I imagine the majority of people listen to the tv commentators or are in the stadium.

I think repurposing clips and hyping plays with our play-by-play guy is an important piece of our social media marketing as a program. His voice is terrible for that. It’s thin, and has no gravitas at all. His phrases seem forced. Just not a “big time” SEC voice. So many better choice out there.

More than you think.
For years, I sync'ed the AU network audio with the TV feed. It was pretty easy when I had cable/dtv, with YouTubeTV, it's harder but not impossible. Was never able to get it sync'ed for the AAM game.
Andy would be better if he slowed down. Way too many mistakes that could be fixed by just slowing down. To me, it sounds like he tries to fill every millisecond and it's just not necessary. Also, he steps on the color guys way too much, especially Sonny.
Down and distance is another problem. Don't know if that's because of the radio booth location but it would be better if he called the game off a video feed.
Fyffe is a legend. Always looked forward to his calls. Going to be hard to top him.

the late great Jack Cristil, longtime MSU play by play guy, used to keep an egg timer in the booth - every time it ran out, if he was in between plays he’d give the score, the quarter and the time left, and the down/distance/LOS

I usually mute the TV and listen to the radio.
I don't have a problem with Andy though. I think he's much stronger as a baseball announcer than other sports, and he's obviously not Rod, but I don't think he does that bad of a job. And I'm actually really enjoying Jason Campbell as a color guy so far.

Auburn has been blessed in recent memory with the late Jim Fyffe and Rod Bramblett.
Andy is capable for other sports, but in all honesty, he lacks that game day persona for Auburn Football. It's more a compliment to those who came before than any criticism against Andy.
