4* OT Stanton Ramil made it to Auburn today. Spent most of his time with Harsin.

Clemente posted an article about Ja'keem Jackson's visit:

He watched film with Coach Etheridge and feels like he'd fit great here and he's planning on returning later this month and for Big Cat on July 30th. Coach Bellantoni and Harsin both have been involved in his recruitment as well and he said that if the "main man" likes you like that to call and text that's a good feeling. Says he likes everything about Auburn the campus, academics, resources, development of players, etc.

He has a commitment date of October 22nd

I just wonder how realistic it is to offer kids at this point.

I get some like Zalance Heard, the OT from LA. He went to school with Encye Sledge, and Zalance says they talk almost every day and Encye loves Auburn. So Encye puts a bug in the ear of the coaches and tells them we might have a chance, give it a shot. We offered last week.

This kid is ranked above Bo Hughley (and we know all the hype around him).

Other schools have been recruiting this kid for donkey years, and we might, might, get a visit from Heard.

So how realistic is it to be offering kids on the west coast or southwest that we saw recent tape on and have little prior relationship?

Not saying we shouldnt, but I would think at this point we should really have narrowed the board down so the coaches can make meaningful contact on a regular basis.

With a few exceptions, like the aforementioned, we should be putting hay in the barn and ease up on chasing the rainbows, lest we have a few close to home say we werent paying enough attention and look elsewhere.

Sometimes guys pop up the summer before their senior year at these camps and you pursue. Happens during the season as well. Quite a few of our 2021 class guys were late offers and each staff tends to do this.

Zalance Heard actually makes way less sense to me because you know they knew about this kid last season

The pursuit of western US recruits by the AU staff isn’t a good signal. If they cannot make inroads that pay dividends within the SE this staff is as good as done.

I tend to agree but they’re fairly uncommon, honestly. I looked a while back but the offers extended by this staff were 90ish percent from Alabama, UGA, and FL. Sometimes kids from out west come to our camps and earn offers that way. But outside guys like Clemons and Agbo last year and Robinson II this year, our staff hasn’t devoted much effort outside the usual footprint.

Caleb Jones posted a list of names that are at the 7 on 7 camp today:

2023 4* DT Markis Deal from Garland, TX

2024 4* QB Makari McClellan from Pinson

2023 4* WR William Fowles from Miami

2025 RB Jordon Davison from Santa Ana, CA

2024 4* CB A'Mon Lane from Alabaster

2025 WR Marcus Harris from Santa Ana, CA

Both Harris and Davison received offers

We offered two more CA prospects in 2024 DB Kingston Lopa and 2025 ATH Philip Bell, both of them are from Sacramento.

247 has Lopa listed as a LB and a 3*. On3 has him as an LB too. Idk if Caleb Jones made a typo when he wrote DB or he's both.

He lists himself as a DB/S on his Twitter so idk why 247/On3 have him as a LB

One of the top tackles in the country... what you mean it doesn't make sense to wait until halfway through the recruiting year to offer a top guy? One from Louisiana where its always hard to pull guys from.. so much so they you usually have to be in early and work them hard the whole process? You don't think that's a good strategy? lol.

I kind of agree about the 2 most recent WR offers.. Neither one of those guys stood out to me. Malachi Riley's measurables are way different depending on which site you look at, but besides that when I watched his film I didn't see any top end speed at all. Decent in short areas, good hands, but no big plays.

That was my point Jonsey, we knew about this kid for quite some time, he has been well known performer for a while, and offer last week, so what kind of chance do we have offering kids we just saw tape on, and live in Cali etc. Check the latest offers, we are still offering kids in places where we have no chance of success, why bother.

And while Im in my Jang mode, these kids from Cali etc, attending our camps. The reason they are there is probably because Bama and Georgia camps were full so he hopes he can ball out at ours and get noticed by the aforementioned once we "find" them.

He was at the same OT7 event that ‘23 WR JaKobi Lane was at. Same one that Cam’s team participated in.

No offense but this theory, while an above average melt, ignores most available information about camps. They’re generally open registration and kids typically travel with friends, teams, and 7v7 squads. Almost all of the out of state visitors are on tours of camps in a given week so they actually are more likely to visit Auburn because they’re also going to UGA and Bama’s camps in the same week (along with other schools, just using your example).

It’s typically the local kids that go to Auburn camps looking to get noticed elsewhere. Take JC Hart from Loachapoka for example. A teacher paid his registration fee and he showed up, won a defensive MVP award and ran a sub 4.4 40 and got a Mizzou offer the next day.

I think we all agree that spending significant effort recruiting west coast kids to Auburn isn’t a worthwhile pursuit. The good news is that the staff generally doesn’t spend much time doing it so I’m not really certain what the complaints are about 90% of the effort is going into 3 states. That’s higher than most schools if you take a look at where our SECw competition recruits from

Last thing on the west coast offers — Clemente confirmed that there’s a big group of ‘24 and ‘25 kids from CA at a 7v7 camp today and they’re getting offered.

So, yeah, coaches aren’t really doing any extensive evals and flying out there. They’re just handing out unofficial offers to top athletes from CA that are on a camp tour

Clemente posted a Recruiting confidential so here's a rundown:

Karmello English has an OV set for June 20 and ending the 22nd.

JC Hart is close to receiving an offer.

On Reuben Bain he says since Miami hired his HS coach as a support staffer Miami is ineligible to recruit him for 2 years per NCAA rules, but Miami is recruiting him regardless and we're locked in a battle with them for him.

Auburn can't figure out how he'd be eligible at Miami within the next two years it's a situation where they're not counting on Miami being ruled ineligible, but if they are then we stand at the top for him and regardless Bellantoni and Auburn have been doing a great job recruiting him and like where they stand.

During OVs one of the biggest things Auburn's done is have deans and academic advisors of the different schools recruits are interested in meet with recruits or come along for a lunch/dinner during the visit.

A lot of recruits are genuinely interested in academics and want to make sure Auburn can set them up for a good life after football.
That'll continue this weekend when Connor Lew visits he wants to be a pilot so Brahms will be his player host and will meet with people at the flight school to see what it'd be like if he signed with Auburn.

That could be a major factor in his recruitment. He said that the small things add up and Auburn's doing them right.
