Is the Briarwood kid the only QB we are really going for this round. I think to get him we have to win 8 games and I don’t see that happening. We need a QB every cycle.

Doesn't matter Geriner will have the job at minimum for the 2 years after this year.

Prior to the last few months, Auburn was connected to several guys like Dylan Lonergan and Avery Johnson. Nothing about them lately. This weekend will be Brock Glenn’s 2nd visit to Auburn. He was at the MSU game last fall

Auburn hasn’t offered him yet. He’s probably down the list some but I’m wondering if Davis bolting was the last straw for some of those other guys. Most were offered by Bobo

Injuries and transfer portal. You better bring a QB in every class

At least 1 a year. Gonna need 2 some years

Our QB room is strange right now, though

Finley - JR
Calzada - SO
Ashford - rFR
Geriner - FR

The strange part is that Finley, Calzada, and Ashford can’t really transfer now. They’d have to sit since they’ve transferred already. They’re pretty much locked in. Auburn takes a guy this year but they can gamble some on a guy that they want to develop it Vizzina doesn’t work out.

Might have missed some of these in all the “least entertaining” debate, but several guys will be back for a visit tomorrow that have visited recently:

Jeremiah Cobb
Karmello English
Dee Layton
Terrance Love
Kelton Smith
Vysen Lang

I think we need two QBs this cycle. Finley will transfer in the fall. That leaves a QB room of three.

(Edit) Finley will transfer when Calzone is QB1.

We’re definitely taking 1 HS guy. As I just mentioned, Finley has used his free pass transfer. He could still move but it won’t be easy for him. Same situation for Ashford and Calzada

If Calzada wins the job, they’d still be 4 deep heading into fall 2023 if everyone stays and we pick up a HS kid. I imagine Auburn would have an opportunity to add a transfer again or double up in the ‘24 class as Calzada and Ashford enter their final years of eligibility

I really don’t see Auburn taking 2 guys this cycle out of HS.

Touché. We just need 5 in the QB room however it manifests IMO.

They can still grad transfer, correct?

Correct. And Finley is an extremely smart dude.

Grad transfer is a good point. Not sure Finley is there as a junior, though, but he was an early enrollee. So it’s possible he’s close

Otherwise they’d just have to sit a year. Finley has used 2 years of eligibility already and has used his free transfer. If he doesn’t play much in 2022 he could reasonably make a move since he’s got a redshirt year in his pocket and I’m assuming he’s got some Covid eligibility too. It’s just not as easy for him to move now outside of the grad transfer potential.

He’s the most likely to go. But even assuming he transfers and Calzada starts I don’t see Auburn taking more than 1 HS guy. Maybe a portal QB with Alabama/Georgia ties looking to get closer to home

4* OT Sham Umarov texted KN to tell him his visit is going really well.

Sounds like 4* S Terrance Love is still on commit watch. He took a 2 day trip

And additionally, Auburn has now offered 3* QB Brock Glenn. I talked about him previously

Parents and this recruit are going to the baseball game now, according to KN. I think he’s likely to jump on board sooner than later
