One of these days people will have thick enough skin to both give Gus his due and his criticism. Right now when he is such an easy comparison to Harsin no Auburn fan wants to say, “ well no Gus had this good quality” or “at least we were in this position, because right now they support their current coach which hasn’t done anything right. It wasn’t all rosy in the land of milk and honey with Gus and he deserved enough criticism for dismissal but just like Gus, Harsin will need a “love me board”- military phrase for a board in their man-cave (probably) where former soldiers put their earned medals and accolades and friends can say “those are yours.” Well Gus looks a lot more endowed right now. What I say will come soon my grass hopper.

We like the spread and playing to your offensive strengths.

We dont like the same play ran over and over that you and Gus ran in peewee games.

Weird a National championship and another appearance. Strange these multimillion dollar coaches couldn’t figure out how to stop an offense from pee wee football.

But what do I know

Also 3 on 3 drills the OL/DL. M’ba looks the part but was getting abused in the few clips I saw.

Probably won’t see him much early like Pegues last year maybe he makes a move to getting better at the point of attack by mid season

I couldn’t see the number but one of the DL got absolutely demolished in that drill got caught up in a doubled team and pancaked about 15 yards down the field

Except they did, Gus's offense was great until the rules changes slowed it down. After 2014 Gus's offense was outdated and everyone knew what was happening. How many games did the announcers, opposing coaches and players know the play before the ball was snapped. Gus also got away from a DT QB which helps a run based offense.

I will give Gus his credit but his offense is now as dated as the wishbone.

Oh I wonder how we made it back to the SEC championship. And how we dog walk most of the middle of the pack SEC teams.

Really only losing to UGA that’s the one that burns…. Beat Bama every other year. Same with LSU.

You will learn. I know I know just give Harsin 5 years and he’s gonna beat someone.

I was never on the fire Gus train, ever. I believed in him more than most, but your memory isn't correct.

We certainly didn't beat Bama and LSU "every other year."

Malzahn leaves Auburn with 3-5 records against Alabama and LSU, and a 2-7 record against Georgia.
Fairly certain that we didn't play multiple games a year vs anyone but GA.

I guess you're talking about Ole Miss & Arkansas? 7-1 is our record with both, which could be "dog walk."

MS ST, we were 5-3, with some squeakers, so not "dog walking."

USCe, we were 1-1, which they were not "middle of the pack SEC" either.

TN, 2-1. One of the most frustrating and humiliating games I ever attended at Jordan-Hare was when TN knew every offensive snap and were shouting to their defense before every snap. No dogs being walked there.

aTm, another 5-3. Which doesn't rank as a "dog walk" in my book. They were clearly beatable nearly every match up. We lost some that we shouldn't have.

Kentucky, Vandy, Mizzou together totals 5-0. I guess someone could claim that that's "dog walking?" But I could clearly point out that those teams aren't usually "middle of the pack SEC."

I would claim "dog walking" from Georgia, LSU, Bama, & FL to us. Those are our traditional "rivals." 8-18 is our record among those opponents, which subjectively feels like a "dog walk" to me.

I never called for Gus's head, thought he ran a clean program. Despite his dismal record versus what mattered, I still wanted to give him another chance. Maybe I sympathize with the abused spouse thing, IDK. But looking back, I know he didn't "dog walk" anyone that mattered to me and he had some opportunities to build off of success rarely seen at Auburn. He didn't.

No need for revisionist history.

Agree records against rivals was not good. You could argue outside of 2017 (and Gus blew the SECCG) that he needed a fluke play to beat our rivals.

The Prayer in Jordan Hare was a fluke play.

Kick Six was not a fluke and wasn't required to win.

Let me put it this way. Even tho UGA kicked our arse regularly that was it. We held our own against 2 teams having the greatest runs of their program’s history in alabama and LSU. Granted we blew some games against both. When Gus was shown the door the conference layout was
1. Bama
2. LSU
3. AU/UGA (with the momentum in UGA’s favor but they hadn’t had the highs we had)
5. UF
6. aTm
So on and so on.

And I’m not here saying we should have kept Gus any longer but the we couldn’t develop we couldn’t coach our strength program was bad blah blah blah. Just isn’t true.

I hope Harsin wins and wins big. I just don’t see it and it has nothing do with his coaching ability. Seems like a very good X’s and O’s Coach.

Slacker you kind of proved my point for me with the records you laid out.

The uga game is the outlier in His tenure.

Bama and LSU best run in their respective programs history at the same time.

Gonna take a massive massive rebuild at this point to get back where we were much less getting to where we want to go. I get the inconsistency complaint but that is Auburn history. That is who we are. 1 down year 6-6, followed by a couple 7-5 or 9-3’s, then and 11 win season. Rinse and repeat.

Awful, his Death Valley performances were impressively bad. He was slowly driving the program into the ground with his shite o line, wr, and d line recruiting anyway.
