Guess what? If we DID arrange for payment....GOOD!
That's how the game is played, bishes! UGA fans have to know they didn't land all of those studs in the '18 class w/o some shady stuff happening. So, we outplayed them on this one.

KN put up an insider this morning. Quick summary
- Starts off by basically scolding AU fans for already worrying about Pappoe flipping. Says yes he will continue to take visits & will probably have an OV to UGA but points out that Pappoe has been committed to AU for 3 months already & has taken numerous visits over that period of time (including to Athens) but is still solid. Also points out that Pappoe wanting to recruit for AU & fact that his relationship with T-WILL only get stronger are big reasons why Pappoe will stick. As of right now, AU is confident they hang onto Pappoe
- 4* ATH Jashawn Sheffield looked ready to commit Wednesday but that's on hold. His mom wants another face-to-face with AU staff before giving the ok. Apparently last weekend was her first visit to AU so she wants to make extra sure before he pulls the trigger. KN says Sheffield called Gus Tuesday night to tell him & Gus took the news well. That return visit could happen as early as this weekend. He's still a major AU lean
- KN says talked with AU commit in recent days who chats a lot with 4* OG Keiondre Jones. Apparently Jones talks mostly about AU with other commit & not really much about rest of his top teams. KN says that may or may not mean anything. Jones has visited AU 4 times this year which does mean something & shows AU is a top contender
- Points out that a number of other outlets (Rivals) have listed Oklahoma as the team most likely to flip 5* WR Jadon Haselwood. KN says that yes Sooners are a threat but don't sleep on AU. He's taken 2 known visits to the Plains in the past 5 months. Also both he & his mom speak often with AU coaching staff. Says flip won't be easy but AU has as good a shot as OK at doing it
- AU will continue to recruit 4* OT Wanya Morris. Feeling is he still has a ton of interest in AU

Some not so great news. TX mod CB'd Cain to Longhorns & Emery to LSU. Says thought Cain was trending LSU but sounds like Emery is gonna commit soon to LSU & Cain doesn't want to be apart of a 3 back class. Now TX surging for Cain
Those are obviously AU's top 2 RB targets... However, another name to watch is 4* Mark Antony-Richards. Could play RB, WR or S at next level. KN said earlier this week Tigers probably #2 right now behind MIA. Plans to visit in June

Grayson blue-chippers announce for four different schools (247)
Lulz at Wiltfong already talking about jumping Bama commit over AU commit
quote:
Four of the nation’s top prospects, from the same school, decided to make their college decision at the same time on Tuesday, making for an exciting day at Loganville (Ga.) Grayson High.
It was also a big day for a few of college football’s biggest programs.
The industry-generated 247Sports Composite’s No. 1 ranked outside linebacker Owen Pappoe picked Auburn in a recruitment that at different points saw Clemson, Florida State and Georgia considered the leader.
Prior to announcing Pappoe, who is the most athletic prospect in the country, told 247Sports he’s been committed for three months.
Alabama beat out Miami and LSU for the No. 6 weak-side defensive end Kevin Harris, who has the traits to be fantastic JACK backer in the Crimson Tide’s defense. His verbal pushes this 2019 class up one spot to No. 1 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
Tennessee held off Auburn for the country’s No. 7 offensive tackle Wanya Morris.
Texas beat Notre Dame among others for Top247 cornerback Kenyatta Watson II who ranks as the country’s No. 18 player at his position.
Let’s first give kudos to the strength and conditioning program over at Grayson. These are four of the nation’s most prolific athletes.
As already mentioned, the 6-foot 1/2, 209-pound Pappoe sits at No. 1 in the Nike Football Sparq Rating with the highest score ever recorded, a 147.12, which included a 4.47 40-yard dash, a 4.00 shuttle, 45-foot powerball toss and a 40-inch vertical leap. Sitting at No. 6 overall and No. 1 among cornerbacks is the 6-foot-1, 172-pound Watson who ran 4.5, with a 4.12 shuttle and a 45-2 inch vertical which ranks No. 1 in the country. Harris has the third highest score among the defensive linemen including a 4.76 40-yard dash, a 4.28 shuttle and a 38-5 inch vertical leap. No offensive lineman has tested better to date than Morris who ran a 5.04 40-yard dash with a 4.5 shuttle and 41-foot power ball toss. These prospects all have a high ceiling.
As it stands right now, Pappoe is the nonpareil of the group. Ranked as the nation’s No. 8 recruit regardless of position, Gus Malzahn and company will count on him in year one as the three starting linebackers will exhaust their eligibility at season’s end. Pegged to play the Money backer position int he Tigers defense where he’ll be asked to play in space drawing assignments like covering the tight end, Pappoe could certainly play in the box as a MIKE as well.
The short-area burst is what makes Pappoe unique, he's a striker, shows ability to get off blocks and make plays against the run, and he's smooth changing direction. Pappoe is also an impact player on special teams.
With Pappoe in the fold, Auburn moves from No. 25 to No. 19 in the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Harris isn’t the one that is ranked the highest when said and done. Another that makes things happen on special teams, Harris is dynamic and relentless as a pass rusher, physical when he’s around the football, from the strong hands to the speed to power, he has what you’re looking for. Alabama’s track record with five-star recruits makes Harris an even more exciting get, and he’s one that on the camp circuit this spring has put himself in the discussion for that designation.
Tennessee may have needed Morris more than Auburn needed Pappoe. They are a huge question mark at the point of attack and guys like Morris are tough to find with the frame and ability to move his feet. It wouldn’t be surprising if we hear his name called in the first or second round down the road. In Grayson’s offense, Morris shows his versatility as an offensive tackle from the drive run blocking, pass protection (light on his feet, sets himself quickly) to getting out and running and putting a hat on someone in the screen game. He won’t be a one-trick pony when he arrives in Knoxville. Teamed with offensive guard Jackson Lampley, that’s a nice duo on the offensive line for Jeremy Pruitt and company early in the 2019 cycle. Morris is someone you can build around on the offensive line and as the new Vols staff aims to grow their program from the line of scrimmage out, they do so moving forward with one of their top targets regardless of position in the fold.
If you’re the Longhorns staff, you’re happy about the length and change of direction ability Watson brings to the secondary. The fluid movement skills, the speed. Texas signed arguably the top defensive back class in the country in 2018 and Watson will go toe to toe athletically with those guys as he works to push his way into what should be a competitive competition for game-day reps.

Honestly thought Emery was heading out of state & liked our chances but doesn't seem to be heading that way. Still think Cain is very much in play but ya it's irritating we seem to always be chasing backs
I like Derrian Brown who is high on AU (recently offered by Bama) but was really hoping we could land one top 100 back this year. Still early tho

My favorite response from the UGA recruiting thread from an obvious graduate from the Harvard of the South:
Edit: Dammit, I see we all homed in on the same idiot.

It's beyond me why kids even consider Auburn. Podunk town, average degree and etc. I just have no idea what Auburn offers that a better school with a stronger degree could do. Even if committed to Vandy, it would make sense to me but Auburn? They don't excel at either football or academics.

5-star LB Owen Pappoe commits to Auburn over Georgia (SECCountry)
quote:
ATLANTA — Auburn made a 5-star splash in the 2019 recruiting cycle.
On Tuesday, 5-star linebacker Owen Pappoe generated a nationwide buzz throughout the recruiting world when he committed to Auburn over Georgia, Tennessee and others. Pappoe is the first composite 5-star prospect to commit to the Tigers since Calvin Ashley in May 2015.
Pappoe’s commitment is the sixth public pledge for the Tigers in the 2019 class, and the second in as many days.
The nation’s No. 8 overall prospect surprised many with his late move toward Auburn. It’s a testament to the recruiting work done by Tigers linebackers coach Travis Williams.
“My relationship with coach T-Will is probably the best of any coach I’ve been recruited by since eighth grade. I could see myself coming in here and playing early, too. That’s a really big factor for me,” Pappoe said. “Him and my position coach in high school now, they’re the same people. They always keep it real with you, high-energy guys, run around with you in practice on the field. That’s the kind of coach I want to be coached by.”
Pappoe’s commitment moves Auburn up to No. 19 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. There likely are more moves to be made this week that could jump that ranking up even further.
Pappoe ranks as the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker and No. 2 overall prospect in Georgia. While he’s listed as an outside linebacker, Pappoe has the versatility to play multiple linebacker spots in Kevin Steele’s defense. Pappoe’s ability to play inside linebacker or outside linebacker, rush the passer or drop back in coverage make him the hot commodity he has been in the 2019 class.
Auburn linebackers Deshaun Davis, Montavius Atkinson and Darrell Williams will depart the team after the 2018 season. Pappoe has a realistic shot to step into Williams’ linebacker room on Day 1 and start for the Tigers.

No. 1 recruiting target for Owen Pappoe, Jakai Clark might surprise you — or it might be obvious (SECCountry)
quote:
The No. 1 recruiting target for Owen Pappoe and Jakai Clark might surprise you.
Then again, it might not.
Auburn’s two commits from Grayson High in Loganville, Ga., are set to be vocal leaders of the 2019 class. They have several prospects in mind whom they’d like to see join them on the Plains. But when you ask 5-star linebacker Owen Pappoe who his No. 1 recruiting priority is, he gives an answer quite close to home.
“I’m going to try my hardest to get Wanya to flip. I’m going to be in his ear every day,” Pappoe said of high school teammate Wanya Morris, who announced his choice of Tennessee late Tuesday afternoon. “I was this close, this close [the last couple of days], but he felt Tennessee was going to be the best choice for him. But that’s not going to stop me from being in his ear.”
Clark and Morris are close. He said he’d known for a few days that his close friend on the offensive line would choose the Volunteers over the Tigers. That’s not going to deter him from trying to get Morris to flip his commitment.
He even gave Morris a tongue-in-cheek ultimatum.
“It’s the same thing [as Pappoe]. I’ve been trying, and I’m going to keep trying,” Clark said. “I want him to go wherever he’s happy. If we see him on the field, we’re still going to beat him, but I want to see him happy.”

Harris, Morris, Pappoe and Watson commit ... Who's solid, who's not? (Rivals)
quote:
NOT DONE YET
The excitement around Pappoe may die down right now, but we don’t expect him to ride off quietly into the sunset and sign with Auburn without a few visits and rumors circulating.
Pappoe has two official visits remaining and he has told Rivals that he plans to use both. We expect one to go to Auburn, but what about the fifth? Will it go to Georgia? Could Tennessee, the school that finished third and picked up a commitment from his teammate get it?
You can bet Pappoe will spend time on campuses in the next six months that are not located in Auburn (Ala.), so things will not die down here until he puts the pen to the paper. Schools will not give up on Pappoe until they have to and that won’t be until December. You can bet Gus Malzahn and Kirby Smart’s battle here has just begun.

Worth Watching
Morris falls into this category too. He could go to the one below or even the one above as well. He admits he is tired of the process and he may only go to Knoxville from here on out, but Auburn is not going to go away. Morris has three official visits remaining, including one to Auburn if he chooses to take it. He was scheduled to take his visit to Auburn last weekend, but he didn’t, and that may be better for Auburn if they can get him on campus in the fall. Tennessee did a great job closing here the last few weeks, but it is hard to see this one being completely over with at this time.
Hopefully get him to OV in the fall to watch us destroy Tennessee
