KN put up an insider last night. Here's summary

- A&M grad transfer plans to take all 5 OVs before deciding. He visited Arizona this past weekend who is a real threat considering Sumlin is coaching there now. However, KN has heard Harvey wants to stay in the SEC. Has also visited AU & SCAR

- AU will explore grad transfer market for an OL tho they will only take someone if they feel he is a good fit & could help immediately. Don't want just another body. KN says that AU apparently has targeted some guys but he doesn't have the names yet

- The date for Pappoe & Wanya Morris's commitment changed again. Now it's May 1st. Reason for it bouncing all over the place is they are trying to accommodate local tv & 247. As of now, KN still thinks it's AU for Pappoe & TEN for Morris. But still a few weeks to go so things could change

- Apparently after reading KN's "dream class" edition last week, 4* ATH Mark-Antony Richard gave KN a hard time for not including him on the list. KN responded that it was supposed to be for realistic recruits which Richards responded by saying he plans to visit AU again June 16. His brother plays for Miami & the Canes are considered the overwhelming favorite but his family likes AU & they are familiar with AU staff from Ahmmon Richards recruitment. If he were not to pick MIA it would probably be AU or UF. Tigers like him at WR

- AU will be one of the stops for the IMG college bus tour probably in May. 4* RB Noah Cain will be apart of that group (also 4* LB Mikel Jones)

Pappoe told Barton Simmons he already knows he's going to commit to & that it's "very clear". He didn't say who was his leader tho (that's a chance has been public in past about UGA being ahead). AU is selling need hard to Pappoe & he's listening. Also is close with Travis Williams but says that it's not just T-WILL that talks to him regularly. Marcus Woodson, Kodi Burns & Gus Malzahn also communicate regularly with Pappoe. He also likes fact he feels like he's a good fit in our scheme after sitting down with Kevin Steele & T-WILL. He's not sure yet if he will visit AU again before making decision.

Visiting Penn State and Texas (IIRC) these next 2 weekends on OVs. So he might not get back to Auburn or UGA before deciding. I think Keef said that there's a chance he and Morris sneak in one last visit.

WARNING - this next article comes from uber UGA homer Jeff Sentell. However, he had a long interview with Pappoe that I thought was interesting. Have to take with grain of salt tho because dude doesn't even try & hide his bias in reporting

5-star LB Owen Pappoe on his upcoming decision: ‘I do not have a leader’ (SECCountry)
quote:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Owen Pappoe had his prom Saturday night, but he said he got more sleep than any of his three Grayson teammates.

Pretty hard to imagine what he would do if he had a long night of rest. Pappoe set a Nike Opening regional record with his football rating of 147.12 at Rocky River High on Sunday morning.

He’s now making his commitment on May 1 instead of May 5, but you might have read that on the site already.

Here’s what you might not have laid eyes on yet:

- He has no leader between Auburn, UGA or any other school. “I really have an idea of who it is going to be,” Pappoe said. “But I am going to make sure that I visit two specific schools back to back. I am not going to say who they are, but I will make sure that I will visit them back-to-back and I will make my decision based off of them.”
- If you trade in that sort of thing, he wore a UGA backpack and a UGA zip-up windbreaker on Sunday. He also competed with a pair of LSU gloves on.
While we are on the subject of LSU, he said that those SEC West Tigers are now his No. 3 team.
- His visit plans do not include G-Day. He will be at Penn State on an official visit this weekend and then Texas the following weekend for an official. He will take two more officials in the fall.
- Auburn and Georgia will not get official visits, but they will both likely receive another additional visit prior to his May 1 decision.
- The 6-foot-1 Pappoe weighed in at 209 pounds. His testing numbers: 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash; 45 feet power ball toss; 4.0-second short shuttle; 40-inch vertical.
- Pappoe said that UGA 5-star commits Nolan Smith and Jadon Hasewlood continue to “hammer” him about playing in Athens. He said they come at him harder than the UGA coaches do. The Bulldogs staff has more of a laid-back approach … well, until recently.
- When he makes his decision on May 1, it will not shut down his recruiting. He will still likely take other visits.
- He said he didn’t actually train specifically for any of the Opening events on Sunday. “No lie,” Pappoe said. “I didn’t train for this at all. I actually shocked myself doing this. It is a blessing.”

That about covers the stuff for those with the five seconds of attention span to spare regarding the decision from the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker and the No. 7 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings.

“I have said that Georgia is my top school,” Pappoe said. “They are. People say that Auburn is coming into the picture. (Pauses). I guess so.”

We will dive a little deeper into this decision from here on in.

Seems like he's saying some different things to different sites or at least they are emphasizing different things from his comments

Owen Pappoe: The decision in his own words

As stated earlier, he told DawgNation on Sunday that he currently has no public leader. That has changed over the last month. What happened there? How did Auburn catch the home state Bulldogs?

He said his three-day unofficial visit over the last month mattered. That’s because every time he had been to Auburn before, it had been for a game or a camp. The personal attention and extended 1-on-1 time from that trek really made an impression.

“I really do have interest in Auburn,” Pappoe said.

But he also wondered why the internet would run wild with Crystal Ball picks and speculation that he was now trending toward Auburn. He didn’t see where all the “he’s now going to Auburn” stuff came about.

Why choose Georgia?

“Just stay home and play with my brothers,” Pappoe said, noting that attention from Haselwood and Smith.

Why choose Auburn?

“Just to see how the recruiting class there goes,” Pappoe said. “Whenever I go, I want to play with some dogs, too.”

When he decides, he feels he will “be pretty solid with the school he picks” on May 1.

He also had a thought to help frame up those analyst Crystal Balls and rumors.

“I just look at it like this: If you don’t hear from the man then don’t believe it,” he said. “It is just rumors.”

This is a close decision, but he will not allow anyone to paint him as having a hard decision with this. That’s a mature statement. That’s because if anyone is prepared to weather a tough college decision, it is Pappoe.

He has been getting major college offers since before his freshman year. Pappoe has been heavily recruited since his freshman season. He also has a cadre of good mentors and coaches to lean on around Grayson High School.

There was a time when he was supposed to (air quotes are maybe necessary here) choose Clemson. Then Florida State. Then Georgia.

“You can’t make it hard on yourself,” Pappoe said. “A lot of people make it harder on themselves because they are listening to the fans. They build up a good relationship with the coach. Now they are listening to the coach and it’s, no, don’t go there now. You just can’t make it hard on yourself.”

How did the UGA coaches respond to the Auburn chatter?

Pappoe gave a very honest answer to how the Bulldogs responded to all the rumors about him trending to Auburn.

“I was like, ‘Coach just let the media be the media’ and I just told them if you don’t hear something coming from me then don’t listen to it,” Pappoe said.

Inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann reached out. So did defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. Pappoe then noted that every program has graduate assistants and staffers that follow the Twitter grapevines.

“They were basically like, ‘We are hearing this, what is up?’ and just talk about it,” Pappoe said.

The 5-star LB did just that.

“I was just like ‘Coach, this is the media and you know how it is going’ with me,” he said. “They didn’t really take it too seriously.”

What is the truest thing he can say right now about his decision?

“I’ve been getting offers since the eighth grade,” Pappoe said. “I’ve put a lot of thought into it and I believe whatever decision that I make is going to be the right one for me.”

We already discussed Pappoe’s wardrobe choices on Sunday. He also wore a mostly red-and-black tuxedo to his prom on Saturday night. Are there any conspiracy theories to sort through there?

“No comment,” he said.

What can the Bulldogs do to seal up his decision?

“They don’t have to do anything special,” Pappoe said. “[The way] how they have been recruiting me this far is really good.”

And Auburn?

“I just want to make sure I play with some dogs,” Pappoe said. “I want to see how their recruiting class goes.”

That’s an important point. Auburn is trending heavily with 4-star defensive back Jashawn Sheffield from South Georgia. His Grayson teammate Wanya Morris is down to Auburn and Tennessee.

There is the recent Auburn commitment Jakai Clark. Clark is another Grayson teammate.

That said, the Tigers have three commitments for 2019. Georgia has three 5-star commitments in that same cycle.

He said the Grayson school community all feels like he will choose the Bulldogs.

“Everybody thinks that I am going to go to Georgia,” he said. “I will just let everybody think what they want to think. They will see May 1.”

Hopefully we get Jaylin Simpson & Jashawn Sheffield on board at end of month to help show Pappoe he can play with some "dogs" at AU

Rusty seems irritated over at UGA 247 & posted something last night on Pappoe. Says he's sticking with CB on UGA for now with Pappoe but says he can absolutely change it if he needs to. Emphasizes that he said 2 weeks ago that race had gotten really close & it had. Admits doesn't know where Pappoe is going right now but trusts his sources on this one. Makes a strange comment about he's "took some notes on this one". Calls Pappoe a very bright kid who has dealt with media since 8th grade

Picked up more CBs for Jashawn Sheffield & Jaylin Simpson. All from FSU insiders which was the school they were favoring. Really sounds like Simpson is gonna commit soon

Morris seems to be really good at taking covert visits so wouldn't surprise me tho does concern me he's taking an OV to Tennessee. The posibarner in me says that cuz they are trailing so want to roll out red carpet. Negabarner says it's him locking in his decision. Hopefully get him on campus one more time

As for Pappoe, no matter what he does early May his recruitment won't be over but would sure be a huge boost for us recruiting some other top defensive studs if we could land Pappoe's commitment. Dude is the type of LB talent we have consistently missed on over the years & if we could actually get him on campus that would be huge

I tend to believe what he told Simmons is more reality since BS isn't a team reporter like Sentell.

Not saying you're wrong, but it was written by a homer and it's interesting that he stop quoting Pappoe and started paraphrasing something that could have easily been quoted.

I'm guessing he picks UGA though... based on zero facts. I just refuse to get my hopes up.

Davis was a legacy recruit if I recall so a bit different. Pappoe could end up being more like Nate McBride who genuinely liked AU a lot but was always destined for UGA. I am concerned Pappoe will be more like LSU's recruitment of Adam Anderson. Trends UGA for a long time, has a brief fling with another SEC school who goes all in on getting him & his teammates only for the stud of the group to eventually stick with UGA all along

With that said, I won't mind worrying about Pappoe flipping because it means he's committed to us in the first place

KN put up another insider this morning

- Spring eval period started yesterday & lasts till May 31. Now AU coaching staff can go watch top targets practice & KN says this is typically when the recruiting board really takes shape. A staff can use a combined 168 evaluation days during this period & can visit each school twice. Says expect to see some traveling in coming weeks but most high school teams don't start spring ball until May so that's when things will really ramp up

- 4* LB Donte Starks is considered a major LSU lean but the thought from their camp is the one team that could steal him away is AU. KN said a source told him T-WILL has done a really great job recruiting him. AU has locked in on him as a top target

- KN continues to hear that Bama is team to beat for 5* C Clay Webb. Expect him to keep visiting AU tho but as of now all bammer

- Big weekend is gonna be April 27-29. 4* ATH Jaylin Simpson & 4* ATH Jashawn Sheffield both visit & KN says it's one to watch (Simpson is probably gonna commit & good chance Sheffield joins him)

- That weekend will also be when 4* TE Luke Deal takes his OV & KN has heard there could be some others (I would watch out for someone like Marcus Banks returning, maybe they can convince DeGabriel Floyd to check AU out)

Woah buddy. KN reporting that 4* OT Wanya Morris is now planning on taking an OV to AU April 27-29. That's just a few days before his May 1st announcement & a week after his expected TEN OV

Granted the way OVs right before NSD went doesn't exactly scream AU lock now but with him taking an OV to UT glad to see we might get another

So far that weekend will have unofficial visits by Jaylin Simpson & Jashawn Sheffield. An OVs by Luke Deal & Wanya Morris. Wouldn't be shocked if Pappoe also showed up that weekend if Morris is gonna be there. Good chance Simpson commits & Sheffield joins him as well. Could be a huge weekend leading into a big week

Interested to see if Rusty pulls trigger on a CB pick for Morris. He's starting to get a bit shaky on his UGA CB for Pappoe but I think he's gonna stick with it even if trend points towards AU by announcement because he thinks Pappoe lands there eventually. Just me guessing tho
