I love how it’s been nothing but a lot of positivity being pumped by our recruiting beat writers but at the last hour things seem to be going sour

Don't think we have any backups for OL. We'll probably just send Dilly and a bag man to the transfer portal and tell them they can't come back without an OT

KN was pretty transparent about the likelihood of Henry choosing FSU and we’ve discussed it a good bit in this thread the past few days. The Rivals dudes jumping on Jeff Lee’s intel was surprising considering Lee’s track record on bold predictions
I think we’re in the same spot with everyone else. Have to keep in mind that nearly 11 EST this is all just guesswork. Recruits aren’t out giving night time interviews

I personally don’t feel like we HAVE to take more OL in this class. Reality is that the folks we really needed have already signed elsewhere and Bell or Henry would be nice but won’t help much to fortify the unit. I do like that Bell has projectability at C.
The reality that hasn’t set in here yet is that ‘20 is going to be tougher to recruit due to our traditional recruiting region being slightly thinner at OT.

With that said, I think Henry to FSU is pretty likely. AU guys have been banking on the Kamaar Bell/Ira Henry package deal that only became a thing like 2-3 weeks ago. Henry called FSU his dream offer. Still a chance this goes AU's way but tea leaves don't look good
I personally think all the Pickens stuff is just smoke and that he will show up with an AU hat tomorrow and there will be no drama. I'm also an optimist

Tomorrow will be entertaining either way. With at least 6 decisions AU is supposed to have a good shot at there will be plenty of chances to melt & celebrate

If we only sign 2 high school OL this class our high school OL recruiting for the past 4 full classes will be an unmitigated disaster. 8 high school OL in that time is unacceptable. To para-quote Lord Vader, "Our failure will be complete."

Yeesh. Glad I didn’t follow that closely this year. Funny that we sold our OL situation as being a dumpster fire, and are going to lose out on the two guys we were after at the end because it’s not enough of a dumpster fire.

It will be tough to go down from here but I’ll go ahead and repeat myself: recruiting ‘20 OL won’t be any easier. Thinner group than usual and especially in our usual territories. Dillingham is going to earn every penny of his salary recruiting the west and Midwest for big bodies.

Losing Henry and Bell might be the last straw for Grimes. He can be the best coach in the world but if he doesn’t have the guys to coach it doesn’t matter. And in our league you can’t be good at just one half of your job.
