Auburn is evaluating the standout QB at Wetumpka as an athlete, which probably means defensive back. No offer yet from the Tigers. He visited earlier this year.
Think he ends up at Tennessee

Auburn offered this long cornerback two weeks ago. The Tigers need corners so he's one to watch. The board, however, still is taking shape.
Might end up the #2 CB in the state before it's over. Need one of him & Christian Williams

He also did one for state of GA that I will post later

What Auburn’s inclusion in cornerback Devin Bush’s top 5 means (SECCountry)
quote:
What Auburn’s inclusion in corner’s top 5 means
Auburn is going all out for some of the nation’s top cornerbacks in the 2019 class. The Tigers only took two true cornerbacks — Christian Tutt and Roger McCreary — last cycle, so it’s an area of emphasis this time around. Auburn will use the recruiting tag team of defensive backs coaches Greg Brown and Marcus Woodson to evaluate and recruit the best cornerback targets across the Southeast.
Devin Bush was at or near the top of that list even before Brown or Woodson joined the staff.
Auburn offered Bush last spring at a junior day. A year later, Bush returned for another Auburn junior day.
When Bush attended the Plains last spring, the 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback from New Orleans picked up his first college offer from the Tigers. Georgia, LSU, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Florida State, Clemson and others have followed suit in the year after his initial offer.
Auburn has kept a special place in Bush’s heart, one person close to Bush made clear. It showed during the weekend when Bush, who most consider a heavy LSU lean, released his top 5. His favorites are LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Clemson.
Bush’s most recent trip to the Plains included a weekend-long visit with several members of his family. The visit came exactly one year following the previous junior day and offer. Bush, ranked the No. 15 cornerback in the country in the 247Sports composite would like to make a decision prior to his senior season.
Confidence is much higher in LSU than anywhere else, however. The hometown effect will do that. But Auburn feels in contention enough to make a major run at Bush.

How Calvin Anderson’s decision shapes Auburn’s plans
It didn’t come as a major surprise, but Rice grad transfer tackle Calvin Anderson chose Texas over Auburn, Michigan and Oklahoma on Saturday.
Anderson claimed from the beginning that proximity to home wouldn’t factor into his decision. Nonetheless, none of the trio of our-of-state schools had enough to pull the 6-5, 301-pound tackle out of the Lone Star State. Anderson told SEC Country that one of the biggest factors leading to his decision was, indeed, offensive line coach Herb Hand.
Anderson developed a relationship with Hand when Hand was still coaching at Auburn. After the move, having Hand — the first coach to go see Anderson in Houston after his transfer announcement — in Austin became too much for Anderson to turn down despite the hard push from Auburn and others.
Anderson’s decision won’t affect the Tigers’ 2019 offensive line plans whatsoever. Auburn will have to go all-out for its tackle targets, which is what it plans to do with top-100 targets such as Wanya Morris and Xavier Truss.
Auburn also has the capability to pursue other grad transfer options. The Tigers can make one of two decisions:
1. Ride with Prince Tega Wanogho at left tackle and Calvin Ashley at right tackle.
2. Search for other left tackle grad transfer candidates.
Wanogho and Ashley have received high grades in the first half of spring practices. Both have been receptive to offensive line coach J.B. Grimes’ teaching methods. As Auburn gets into more full-contact spring practices, Gus Malzahn, Chip Lindsey and Grimes will have a better idea of their need to find other grad transfer possibilities.
Two names to keep in mind for the potential future tackle searches: Stanford’s Casey Tucker and Ohio State’s Kevin Feder.
Both have announced their intent to grad transfer, though it’s quite possible other names emerge if Auburn decides definitively to pursue other tackles.
It's probably a good sign with we don't go after any other grad transfers. Would mean JB's happy with Tega/Ashley

Future Auburn speedster Anthony Schwartz does it again
I’m running out of words to describe Anthony Schwartz’s track accomplishments.
The well-documented future Auburn speedster has developed quite a reputation for himself away from the gridiron. He’ll be a deep threat for the Tigers for years to come, but the things Schwartz achieves on the track are even more jaw-dropping.
Schwartz has been a star in outdoor track and field meets. This weekend, he took part in his first indoor meet and the results mimicked what he’s done on the outdoor circuit.
Schwartz competed in the 60-meter dash and ran a time of 6.59 seconds. How good is that for a first-time competitor? Well, it happens to be the second-best time ever among high school sprinters, just .02 seconds behind the all-time leader.
If history is any indication, that’s a number Schwartz will break in short order.

quote:In theory yes but the 25 rule has been in place for a while now. Teams including AU have used it nearly each year to get GTs they think will be starters their 1 year at the new school.
With the current situation that's hard to disagree with. But at some point with the 25 scholarship rule in place it's not good to have to use one on a player for one year. It's easier to swallow when the player you use it on is a Productive starter, that's for sure
Posted on 3/12/18 at 11:42 am to TigerPaw1
quote:Not necessarily. Could mean of the GTs the staff knows about, they may not see any that would clearly win a starting job.
It's probably a good sign with we don't go after any other grad transfers. Would mean JB's happy with Tega/Ashley

I was disappointed we didn't land Anderson - the dude really seems sharp. He handled the whole GT process very well and sounded exceptionally intelligent in interviews. Good luck to the kid.

I think we absolutely have to take a grand transfer at T. Our depth behind the starters is horrible. I thought we would be OK there until I saw the 2 deep, but we are one injury at T form having a bad season. Tell them they will get an opportunity to start, but at worst we need depth there.

We had a bad season at LT last year. Does not stop some here from fapping it to Gus winning 71% of his games last season.

The reason our OL recruiting was a let down was because Hand left.
Not true, we weren't getting Anderson or the kid who's brother played for SC regardless. Hand missed on Gouragie, Barnes, Trey Hill.
We weren't on Barnes until late but led for Gouragie IIRC. Seems like Hand put everything he had into Dylan Wynom early and never let go

If Hand didn't leave, we were getting Gouraige, apparently. So, yeah AA7 is kinda right

Since Paw hasn't posted in a bit I'll post a free article on 4* OL target Keiondre Jones
quote:
Keiondre Jone has been going through the recruiting process since he was a freshman, so he has seen a lot of schools, met a lot of coaches and developed a lot of relationships.
The 6-foot-3, 318 pound offensive guard out of Hoganville (Ga.) Callaway is eyeing a decision before his senior year, so he is not too far from giving that one school the call many are fighting for.
There is a new school in the mix for the No. 8-ranked offensive guard. Mississippi State had Jones on campus recently and the Bulldogs have secured an official visit from the four-star prospect.
Other spring official visits are likely to be scheduled in the coming weeks and he gives the latest.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: "There is still a good bit of schools I am considering," said Jones. "Auburn has made a move, but I do not really have a leader yet. Certain schools are coming at me really hard, so I am still trying to look at as many as I can. I still have a lot to see before I am ready to make a decision."
FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT: "I have an official visit to set up with Mississippi State for April 20-22. I already had a connection with coach [Marcus] Johnson from when he was at Duke, so when he joined the new staff there, I decided to give them a look. I went over there a few weeks ago and I enjoyed it a lot. I like coach Joe Moorhead a lot and we have had some good talks. I like the new coaching staff, they made me feel at home and I believe coach Moorhead can win there."
TIGERS' MAKING A MOVE: "It is all about that home feel for me at Auburn. Auburn is like family over there and they have really made a big push for me lately. I was over there two weeks in a row and it just feels good to be there. I feel they can help me not only with football, but life after football too. I am getting to know coach [JB] Grimes right now and he is cool, but I am already close with coach [Rodney] Garner and I know others on the staff too."
GIVING THE GATORS A LOOK: "I am going down to Florida next weekend and see how it is. I have been talking to coach [John] Hevesy and he really just wants me to give them a chance. He wants me to visit, check things out and see how I like it. My cousin Emory Jones is there now, so that helps them some. Emory has told me that he really likes it there and that he can tell the people there really care about their guys. I have been down there before, but the staff is new, so I just need to check it out again to see how I like it."
GAMECOCKS ON HIS MIND: "South Carolina plays big-time football and their coaches know how to coach their guys up. They are on me hard and they are telling me I could be a big part of this class for them. I talk to coach [Eric] Wolford a lot and we have a great relationship. He is a great coach and I think he could really help me."
DECISION TIMELINE: "I want to be committed by my senior year, so I would like to take as many official visits in the spring as I can. I want to be done before my senior year, and when I commit, I want to shut everything down. I want to end it. I do not want to take other visits and stuff like that. I just want to commit and be done with it."
RIVALS REACTION: The main schools in the mix right now appear to be Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, South Carolina and maybe Clemson. He is very familiar with Clemson, but he did not mention them when talking potential spring official visits. Texas is another school Jones is in regular contact with, but the Longhorns are definitely on the outside at this time. Auburn has been the school trending behind the scenes and when asked about that, Jones did they have "snuck" in there and made a move with him. He wants to be completely finished with the recruiting process by late July, so these next few months are huge for this Rivals 250 offensive lineman.
