FIRST TAKE: WOODY WOMMACK, SOUTHEAST RECRUITING ANALYST
“I had a chance to see PIckens and Haselwood compete as teammates at the IMG 7-on-7 national championships and I have to say I left there wondering if Pickens might be the best wide receiver in the country. Haselwood was struggling with some nagging injuries, opening the door for Pickens to take center stage and he didn't disappoint. With Haselwood out of the action, Pickens was the focal point of opposing defenses and he still found a way to light it up and make big play after big play.
"Pickens’ size, speed, play-making ability and relentless competitiveness remind me of the best wide receivers I've seen since I've been doing this job. By the time the season is played and we get to the All-American games there is going to be quite the debate for the No. 1 wide receiver spot and Pickens will be in the discussion.”

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, NATIONAL RECRUITING DIRECTOR
“Pickens has a great catch radius, he snatches the ball out of the air and he has an attitude about him where he plays like one of the best receivers in the country. Is he the best receiver in this class, better than Wease or Haselwood? It still might be too early to tell.
“One reason why we give the edge to Haselwood and Wease is because we’ve seen them everywhere. We saw both at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge and they’ve been at numerous events this offseason. Pickens doesn’t do as many events, and so we just haven’t seen him as much as the other guys. He probably won’t put up huge numbers at Hoover this season because of its offense, but I’m excited to see him during the all-star events to really determine who is the best receiver in this class.”

New Rivals250 rankings: By the numbers (Rivals)

All-star camp season is over and the 2018 season is right around the corner. The latest update to the Rivals250 took into account everything that has happened between now and mid-June. Take a closer look at how these couple months changed the Rivals250 in this edition of By The Numbers.

SOUTHEAST STILL DOMINATING THE RIVALS250
California has the most prospects in the Rivals250 but the Southeast region is dominating all the other regions when it comes to representation in the Rivals250. In fact, the Southeast region, with their 87 prospects in the Rivals250 has more than the West (48) and Mid-Atlantic (38) combined. The Southeast doesn't just have a lot of players in the Rivals250, they have the most highly rated prospects. Of the top 50 prospects in the Rivals250, 44-percent of them are from the Southeast.

SEVEN PLAYERS JUMP MORE THAN 100 SPOTS
Despite there not being a major reshuffling of the Rivals250, there were still some big movers including seven players that moved up at least 100 spots. West Virginia linebacker commit Lee Kpogba was the biggest riser, moving up 137 spots from No. 246 to No. 109.
Three of the other six players that moved up more than 100 spots are from the Mid-South region and the other three are from the Southeast. Oklahoma commit Stacey Wilkins (No. 191 to No. 56), Clemson commit Bryton Constantin (No. 225 to No. 92) and Texas A&M commit Dylan Wright (No. 228 to No. 119) are the three from the Mid-South while Tyrique Stevenson (No. 175 to No. 39), Florida commit Tyron Hopper (No. 245 to No. 111) and Zion Puckett (No. 233 to No. 114) are the three from the Southeast. It should also be noted that South Carolina commit Joseph Anderson moved up 94 spots from No. 231 to No. 137.

Rivals.com 2019 Position Rankings update: Offensive Line
(Rivals)

Some big-name offensive linemen came off the board since we last updated rankings in June. No five-stars came off the board, but numerous four-stars put their names on commitment lists and there is another set to commit in the coming weeks.

TEAMS TO WATCH: ALABAMA, AUBURN, FLORIDA STATE, TENNESSEE, USC
Darnell Wright is the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country and he remains uncommitted. This could come down to an SEC battle between Alabama and Tennessee, but you can’t count Ohio State out either.
Clay Webb and Evan Neal are also high on Alabama, so the Crimson Tide could have a very exciting finish in 2019 if the chips fall right.
Auburn has Will Putnam, a four-star offensive guard out of Florida scheduled for an official visit Sept. 15 and the Tigers have been trending. Keep an eye on Florida State as well.
Other than Putnam, the Seminoles are very much involved with Deyavie Hammond, an in-state four-star target at IMG Academy.
USC has a need up front and the Trojans are in the thick of things with numerous top targets out west. Troy Fautanu, Sean Rhyan and Enokk Vimahi are three top keep an eye on in the coming months.

We gettin another stud today
My discussions on SECRB with Dawg fans got me playing with class calculator to see what a top 5 class might look like for AU. Based off recent history need 285+ points to land there
So assuming we land the following prospects we lead for
4* DB Zion Puckett
4* Buck Derick Hall
4* WR Jalen Curry --> I know it's not known if he's a sure bet but for this thought exercise let's roll with it
Then let's say we pull off two flips that KN is implying in
4* LB Tyron Hopper
3* DT LeDarrius Cox
That puts AU at 266.86 pts with 5 commits to go. My guess is those final spots would got to a RB, 2 OL, DB, DB or LB . So let's say AU hits on some of their top remaining targets
4* RB Noah Cain
4* OL William Putnam
3* OG Kamaar Bell
4* CB Cam'Ron Kelly
3* CB Nehemiah Pritchett
That would be a class score of 284.22. Good for about 7th in the past 2 classes. So probably to reach top 5 status AU needs another top 100 guy to replace someone like Bell or Pritchett
TLDR - AU can absolutely land a top 5 class but it won't be easy. Need T-WILL to do work at LB & pull off a surprise somewhere

Perusing LSU crootin board an apparently JUCO OT Badara Traore is really struggling. Was a guy i was bummed AU missed on. Might have worked out letting us snag Driscoll

All we gotta do is flip Wanya and Booth

Flip any of Wanya, Haselwood or Booth then we probably end in the top 5
or if we pull of Clay Webb shocker

It'll also help if Nix/Pickens get bumps in 247 and Espn ratings. Also isn't it likely that Gordon and Wooden will receive bumps at some point?

That would be awesome but I wonder if we would take a guy we need like 3* OG Bell over a top 250 WR for example.
Maybe we just stop recruiting OTs all together and take a bunch of OGs and TEs

JLee says Puckett's coach nixed the jumbotron commitment idea. So expect it sometime this afternoon
It's also JLee so halftime thing could still happen

Hey Paw. Who did Devin Bush decommit from? I see where he Decommitted on Twitter but I haven’t seen anybody say who ihe was committed to.
Posted on 8/17/18 at 12:05 pm to ellitor
He was't committed anywhere
But it was suspected he was close to pulling the trigger for the Vols. I think his message is that he's taking a step back and is open to listening to new offers. FWIW Tennessee seems poised to land Jaydon Hill so they might no longer have a spot either.
Basically he announced his decommitment from approaching a commitment

He's falling on a lot of boards I think. LSU didn't take him, Clemson passed after landing Booth & now Tennessee might too. I could see UF landing him but KN made it sound like if AU wanted him they could probably make a push.
