I also would not be surprised to see Colby Wooden get a bump to a 4* before it's over. I'm pretty confident AU will sign a top 10 class. Top 5 will require flipping a 5* from elsewhere or some other big ranking bumps
Should note I didn't include guys like 5* Nakobe Dean, 4* Nathan Pickering, 4* Jaylen McCollough, 4* Adonis Otey, 4* Christian Williams & some others that could take OVs this fall as well

This is kinda always what happens. Late spring after Big Cat, we put together a solid foundation for our class and have top 5 potential.
Then mid to late summer, we get no one and get irritable. Class usually stalls and drops to lower top 20 in August though we all know it will end top 10ish.
Season kicks off, some of our top targets that are highly rated visit. Jordan Hare (though old and not all that pretty) puts on a show greater than any other stadium in the country with an unmatched game day atmosphere.
We end up getting a lot of our priority targets once they experience a game at JH vs wherever else they are considering, and we jump from around 18 to 8 to close things out.
Rinse and repeat.

This is the biggest thing to me. AU already has 3 top 50 players committed this class and chances are we are gonna add 2 more of our top D targets next week. No idea how anybody would not be optimistic about this class. Still has a chance to be Malzahn's best

There isn't a ton to complain about with Gus on recruiting. He has always done well. He excels at recruiting for his system as well.

Per Jason Caldwell, communication between AU & Clay Webb has really picked up in recent weeks. Bigger news, this uptick was initiated by Webb, meaning he's reaching out to AU a lot more. Expect to see him on campus a bunch this fall

I think AU 247 & Scout are close to merging so him & Caldwell are exchanging info more
FWIW Caldwell hints that Grimes is playing a big role in AU's efforts in recruiting Webb. He was the first coach to offer Webb back in 8th grade

Once again, I don't follow recruiting as much. But how does this kid not see the Oline depth chart,and not want to come and start probably day 1 at Auburn instead of riding the bench somewhere else?

Yeah and hopefully our lack of a center will be appealing to Webb. He would start day 1 with little to no competition.
