KN has an update on that former minor leaguer turned QB prospect Cord Sandberg. Apparently AU is currently his leader, helped a lot by fact we offered him a full ride while both LSU & UF are only offering PWO spots right now. He signed to play with Mullen out of high school at MSU & sounds like Mullen wants him again but question is whether they will offer a full ride or not. Sandberg will probably take 2 official visits during last week of July, one to AU & I am guessing other ends up UF. Wants to enroll at school of choice this August. Staff does not believe it will affect Bo Nix, he's rock solid

Random other updates. Very interested to see whats about to happen with 5* DT Travon WAlker & 4* OT Warren McClendon. AU wants to be involved with both but are longshots. Turned into heated UGA/SCAR battles. UGA insiders think both land with Dawgs, SCAR insiders are saying Cocks. Would be huge wins for Muschamp if we swipes those away, specifically Walker. For as well as UGA has been recruiting they have continually whiffed at DL recently

4-star ATH still has AU on top, official visit set (Rivals)
quote:

Four-star athlete Zion Puckett named Auburn his leader after attending Big Cat in June.

A month later, nothing has changed.

“Auburn is still on top,” Puckett said. “Auburn is a good environment for me. It fits me and what I’m trying to accomplish.”

Puckett, from Spalding in Griffin, Ga., has remained in contact with Auburn since Big Cat. He speaks regularly with defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson, as well as coach Gus Malzahn.

“I talked to Coach Malzahn on the fourth of July and I talked to Coach Woodson (Sunday),” Puckett said. “I really like Coach Woodson. I can talk to him about anything.”

Puckett, although he is high on Auburn, doesn’t plan to make a commitment until the fall. He has five official visits he’d like to take before making his decision. One of the visits is already set.

“I have my official visit to Auburn set for Oct. 12, the weekend of the Tennessee game,” Puckett said. “I’ll also take official visits to Tennessee, Ohio State, Alabama and South Carolina.”

Puckett also will take an unofficial visit to Tennessee July 28.

Rivals ranks Puckett, who is six feet tall and weighs 195 pounds, the No. 18 athlete in the 2019 class and No. 233 in the Rivals250.

KN has said before that AU views Puckett as the same level of prospect as Andrew Booth

Secondary could be a lot of fun very soon. Let's say AU does land Booth & Puckett. Could see a starting secondary of Simpson/Booth at CB, Puckett at Nickel & Sherwood/Monday at safety

FYI 4* LB Kane Patterson committing today, has an AU offer & dad is an alum but looks like he's headed to OHST. Don't think AU ever made him a huge priority

If there's one coach I trust in recruiting, it's T-Will. But...

Honestly I have no idea what happens at LB. Marshall seems to be firm again with UGA but we will see if he makes it to campus in last week of July. Kalen Deloach plans to take an OV to AU but says that FSU/MICH are teams recruiting him the hardest. Donte Starks is already committed to LSU tho if their season bottoms out could be a flip candidate. AU hasn't made any instate guys a priority really. Ge'Mon Eaford plans to commit at end of August & last I saw named AU his leader

But gotta think T-WILL will get some studs with Pappoe

FWIW Keith also said UF may not have room to offer Cord a full ride.

3* DT Patrick Lucas committing today. Most likely will be to OM. Has an AU offer but hasn't been a high priority. Probably a down the line type of guy

PREVIEW: MEN’S 100M – IAAF WORLD U20 CHAMPIONSHIPS TAMPERE 2018
quote:

The race to become the fastest teenager in the world looks like it will come down to a clash between two sprint superpowers: South Africa and the United States.

The favourite, albeit only a slight one, is Anthony Schwartz, a 17-year-old who claimed the US U20 title in 10.23 last month to secure his place in Tampere along with compatriot Eric Harrison, who was second in 10.26.

Schwartz is the world U20 leader courtesy of his 10.09 clocking in Albuquerque last month and if he can reproduce that form in Tampere, it’s highly likely he will follow in the footsteps of Noah Lyles, the 2016 champion, and send the gold medal back to USA.

However, South African duo Thando Dlodlo and Thembo Monareng should prove worthy opponents. Dlodlo is the second fastest U20 in the world this year, courtesy of his 10.11 clocking at altitude in Pretoria back in March. Given the early timing of the South African track season, he has not raced since April, but will be in the shake-up for gold if he has maintained his form.

Monareng was African U20 champion last year and he clocked a swift 10.18 in Pretoria earlier this year, while he proved he’s in shape to challenge for a medal in Tampere with a 10.23 clocking in La Chaux-de-Fonds last week.

It will come as no surprise though if Australia’s Jake Doran manages to upset them all. The 17-year-old arrives in sparkling form after setting an Oceanian U20 100m record of 10.15 in Finland in recent days on the eve of the deadline to qualify for Tampere.

Enoch Adegoke of Nigeria is the fifth athlete in the field with a best under 10.20, the 18-year-old clocking a PB of 10.19 at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year where he finished seventh in the 100m final.

The Asian challenge is led by Indonesia’s Lalu Muhammad Zohri and Japan’s Daisuke Miyamoto, who have clocked 10.25 and 10.26 respectively this year. The European challenge is led by Sweden’s Henrik Larsson, who’ll be hoping to strike by netting himself a spot in the final, though he may need to reproduce his best of 10.28 to do so.

Jamaican duo Michael Bentley and Michael Stephens should also be in the reckoning after going 1-2 at their recent U20 championships in 10.30 and 10.35 respectively.

Excited to see him play but honestly dude should really focus on track. He has olympic talent
