FWIW I tweeted Barton Simmons about Bo Nix's 247 ranking & he said Bo would move up. I also tweeted Luginbil & Gerry Hamilton on what the chances were George Pickens will move into the top 75 of ESPN's next rankings & Hamilton said solid chance.

Dunmore committed to Penn State FWIW

Is it wrong that I get a tingling sensation whenever I watch Nix throwing a football?

FWIW just saw that a week or so ago 4* LB Kalen Deloach told Rivals he plans to be at AU's recruiting event on July 28th. Him & Pappoe would be a hell of a lot of speed at LB

KN put a nice VIP article on what he saw & learned from The Opening yesterday. Here's summary
- KN does think Pappoe was talking about recruits attending The Opening (I was wrong) & if that's the case most likely guys are 4* WR Jalen Curry, 4* Buck Derick Hall & 5* WR Jadon Haselwood. KN thinks he's talking about Hall & Curry. Pappoe apparently thinks AU will get 5-6 more commits between now & end of August
- Nix had a strong week & KN thinks it will earn him a bump in the rankings. He was one of the few QBs not afraid to take shots and was only QB to take every snap for his team. KN thinks chance fatigue set in on that final game but overall he was one of, if not the top QB of the weekend. Other recruits noticed Nix's performance including Noah Cain
- Pickens could be closing in on a 5th star after a huge weekend. HE actually had more receptions & TDs than Haselwood. KN says he might have highest upside of any WR. Big news for AU was Pickens recruited hard for the Tigers over the weekend
- KN continues to reiterated flipping Haselwood won't be easy but apparently Tigers really feel like they have a shot. It hasn't hurt that Haselwood has played a bunch with Nix & Pickens recently. He likes them & makes AU more appealing. As long as he keeps visiting AU has a shot but UGA won't let him go easily
- AU still appears the team to beat for Jalen Curry. He was on same team as other AU commits & roomed with Pickens. Hopes to be back on campus July 28th & chance he could leave committed to AU. Nix has apparently been working Curry hard for awhile
- AU/LSU emerging as the top teams for Noah Cain. LSU might have the slight edge but Cain needs to see how they do on the field this year. That early AU/LSU game could loom large. Source told KN that AU hopes to know Cain's decision by mid fall so if they need to move elsewhere they have plenty of time
- Derick Hall named AU his leader this weekend but don't count MSST out just yet. However, Hall is apparently already working on a commitment video & given AU has the lead right now that's a good sign. Chance his decision comes this month or early August. #1 reason AU team to beat is Malzahn. Gus has been involved personally in his recruitment & it's blown away Hall & his family
- Wanya Morris has AU #2 right now & wants to take an OV to AU but KN cautions that Morris appears pretty solid to Tennesse right now. He does expect Morris to visit for some games this fall & that Pappoe/Clark will stay in his ear. Apparently Morris is also friends with 5* CB Andrew Booth & 4* OG Keiondre Jones so AU is hopeful that landing those guys could help AU even more in flipping Morris.
- AU is trying to make a move for 5* DT Travon Walker & 4* LB Rian Davis but both look to be headed to UGA right now. AU is really hoping they can get Walker back on campus for July 28th. Davis would probably still take an OV to AU even if committed to UGA but right now both look very doubtful to end up Tigers
- Clay Webb isn't giving much away about his recruitment (wouldn't even say if Bama/AU will get OVs) but if there's one thing going AU's way right now it's Gus. Apparently Webb is for closer to Malzahn than any other head coach. Apparently Webb really only has a relationship with Gus when it comes to head coaches. He's not committing to December
- Cam Newton showing up at The Opening did nothing but help AU's cause. Newton wasn't recruiting for AU but fact he showed up to support his 7v7 guys (Nix, Pickens, Haselwood) spoke volumes about how much he cares for his players. Everybody there knows Cam & loves him. They also all know he played for Auburn....

Saw TT's post on SECRB. Here's article on QB Cord Sandberg who played for the Phillies for a few years & is looking to get back in football. Says AU has offered him a scholarship
This baseball player is retiring to play college football. How it might impact QBs in SEC
Guessing AU doesn't wanna carry only 3 QBs next year & a guy like this probably doesn't really scare anyone off. Will be interesting to see if he visits July 28th

Coming out of high school, Cord Sandberg had the option to play professional baseball or college football. Sandberg, the dual-threat quarterback on Manatee High's last state football title in 2011, pursued baseball in the Philadelphia Phillies organization over playing at Mississippi State when he graduated in 2013.
On Wednesday, Sandberg, 23, publicly announced his baseball dream was ending so he could chase his football dream.
"I felt it was time to go to college, get an education and at the same time play a little football and pursue that dream," Sandberg told the Bradenton Herald after six seasons with the Phillies, where he reached as high as Double-A. "... And if for some reason I never start a college football game ever, I can at 28 be like, 'OK, I gave it all I had to both, but now I have a four-year degree and I can move on with the next part of my life.'"
Sandberg said he knew after five or six seasons, he'd have to make a decision about football. And he said he was the fourth outfielder in Double-A before injuries gave him some playing time this year.
"I was kind of just the same player that I had kind of been," Sandberg said. "A solid, just average Double-A guy hitting .240 or whatever it was and a handful of homers."
So Sandberg began thinking, talking with his family and praying hard on what to do. A bus trip from New Hampshire back to Reading, Pennsylvania, for a nine-game homestand a couple weeks ago was when Sandberg made his decision.
"I just didn't feel like wasting any more time," he said. "I truly felt that at this time next year, I would be in the same position. I was ready to move on."
Cardinal Mooney assistant coach Chris Conboy, who was an assistant at Manatee when Sandberg played, connected Sandberg with some of the college coaches he previously talked with during his initial recruitment out of Manatee High.
Sandberg said he's talked with four schools so far: Florida, LSU, Auburn and UCF. Dan Mullen, the head coach with the Gators, recruited Sandberg, who drew comparisons to Tim Tebow for his playing style in high school, when he was at Mississippi State. Sandberg was a four-star prospect and the No. 33 overall ranked player in Florida coming out of high school, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Mullen was the Gators' offensive coordinator during Tebow's time in Gainesville.
Both Florida and LSU are preferred walk-on situations, while Auburn and UCF are offering full-ride scholarships.
"My main goal is going for the place with the best situation," Sandberg said. "With my Phillies contract that I had, I do have some money for schooling through the Phillies. So, if for some reason I decided to go a place that was a walk-on situation for maybe a year or two, the Phillies would be able to pay my tuition and books and all that stuff. I'd be able to make that work until I was on scholarship, if I felt that was the right situation."
Sandberg said he'll take some official visits in late July and wants to be enrolled at a campus before classes begin in late August.
There are also no favorites to land Sandberg. It's still early in the process, he said.

I'm really enjoying watching Yancy Porter over at Ole Miss 247 basically think everybody is eventually gonna flip to the Rebels. Tidbit from him today after they missed on another elite instate DL (Byron Young)

quote:
Back to Byron, he has been in contact with Ole Miss three times since he committed to Alabama.
Dannis Jackson and Jaren Handy remain in daily contact with Ole Miss. This is a marathon and not a sprint.
Folks, Ole Miss is going to have to show that they are a team on the rise this season to close on several of these guys. That is what it’s going to come down too. We know that Ole Miss’ hands are tied while other schools are not. They have to offset that by winning games.
