4* Buck Derick Hall - Massive frame, really good athlete. Will need some coaching but super high upside. He's the prototype for Buck prospects IMO
3* Buck/DE Colby Wooden - Could be a day 1 impact player. Sounds like we are recruiting at Buck but I think he grows into a SDE. Not as great an athlete as Hall but probably more developed
4* DE Charles Moore - Only has sophomore tape because missed junior year with ACL so interested to see what he looks like this year. Looked explosive two years ago & dominant in short spaces. Could see him grow into a DT but his future is probably at SDE. See some Marlon Davidson in his game
4* DE/DT Justin Eboigbe - Probably my favorite DL target behind Pickering. Very raw but reminds me a ton of Nick Coe coming out of high school. Freak athlete with a chance to be dominant at really any position at next level
4* DT Jaren Handy - I think he's a DT all the way. Massive dude with a ton of potential but raw imo. Tends to play standing straight up which is something Garner will hammer him about. But he's quick & powerful
That is an elite haul on the DL. Would go a LONG way in replenishing what we'll likely lose in the draft and to graduation after this season.

The crazy thing is it's realistic. I think AU might be the leader for 5 of those guys right now. Jamond Gordon is an interesting wildcard. I wouldn't take him over any of those guys unless we are taking 6 but he seems like someone heavy on AU. I think best case scenario is we flip Moore & Gordon takes his spot in MSST class

Also 4* DT Jaelin Humpheries committed to UF today. Was a target at one point but AU had since moved on according to KN

Thanks Paw, you answered my exact question regarding Jamond Gordon. And you summary of the other players sorts it out.
I really like the fact we are taking some athletic guys that will put on weight and slide into tackle, versus fellas that are well over 300 lbs as a junior in high school.
You are so right, its amazing we are so high on all these targets. Looking very, very good.

The TN Commit from Mobile is he more of a backup plan? Solid to Tn? I do like that our defensive recruiting hasn’t seemed to fall off with muschamp gone

Not sure on him. He's a space eater. Solid prospect but hoping we get Handy/Eboigbe over him. Frankly I like Patrick Lucas from Wetumpka more than Cox but we will see

Garner does work for sure. Positive thing for me is starting to see LB/DB recruiting getting to next level. Last year's DB class is one of the best I can remember with Monday/Sherwood/Tutt. This year's could be even better

Been telling you cats for months, baby! Unreal hire! He’s a TWill type hire. He was def off the radar of the general public, but you spend any amount of time around the guy, and you know real quick like that he’s got “it”.

Pretty big recruiting news from KN tonight. 5* LB Nakobe Dean has set an OV to AU for June 22nd. He's OVing to Bama weekend before. Bama/UGA considered top teams right now. Dean wants to major in engineering & apparently that's gonna play a big role in his recruitment

I thought there was no chance till now. Fact we getting OV is big. Turning into a Bama/UGA battle but who knows, one trip to Dye's cabin & things can change

Same. I still don't feel confident about it in the least, but maybe Pappoe can get him on board, too.

Honestly with Cam driving 5*s to Dye's cabin not sure how we will ever miss on another recruit

Thank goodness Kirby is above all the negative recruiting or he could really hurt us...

quote:FWIW Momma Dean was either not happy w/ AU's academic presentation the last time they were there months ago or we didn't focus enough on it then. Given her comments the past few weeks it's easy to guess that's why they have only been here once this year so far. Gotta knock the academic presentation out of the park in that OV.

If engineering is really what Dean’s interest is, AU is heads above UGA and Bama. UGA just started the major and Bama is not an engineering school. But I agree; the coaches better knock it out of the park with the academic presentation.

Versatile athlete Zion Puckett calls Auburn his No. 1 school after Big Cat (SECCountry)
quote:
AUBURN, Ala. — On Zion Puckett’s fourth trip to Auburn, the Tigers made their move.
The Spalding, Ga., athlete had been to Auburn a few times before. His Friday-to-Sunday trip for Big Cat Weekend provided a new type of opportunity to interact with fellow recruits and Auburn coaches. After a meeting with Gus Malzahn to end his trip, Puckett declared the Tigers as the leader in his recruitment, which includes competition such as Ohio State, Alabama and Tennessee.
“Right now, Auburn stands very high. I just got done talking to coach Malzahn, and I believe they’re No. 1,” Puckett said. “The thing that was different about this was, throughout the weekend with Big Cat, I got the chance to be around the top recruits and just be able to bond with all the coaches. What sticks out for Auburn is I feel like this is a good fit for me.”
Puckett placed Alabama at No. 2. Tennessee and Ohio State are others to watch. He’ll visit Tennessee on June 22.
When Puckett wasn’t with Auburn coaches or other recruits, he spent time with offensive lineman Brodarious Hamm, a former Spalding (Ga.) teammate. The multi-night stay gave Puckett the opportunity to experience life similar an Auburn student-athlete.
Puckett is listed as a 4-star wide receiver, the 223rd-ranked player in the country.
Most schools are recruiting him differently than that, however. They all like him on the offensive side, but he has a strong defensive back skill set, as well. Auburn spoke with Puckett on his visit more about defensive fit than offensive fit and told him his versatility would give the Tigers the ability to play at cornerback, safety or nickel.
“Right now, it’s still athlete, but I’m mainly focusing on defense. It’s really nothing different [than other schools]. Everyone has done the same thing about being an athlete, wanting me to play both sides,” Puckett said. “I prefer to play whatever is good for the team, whatever helps the team.”
Puckett doesn’t plan to make a decision until midway through his senior season. He will graduate in December and enroll early at his school of choice.

Auburn is ‘definitely a big factor’ for IMG running back Noah Cain; more RB updates (SECCountry)

Auburn ‘definitely a big factor’ for IMG running back
Noah Cain’s list of offers, visits and schools he’s interested in is seemingly endless.
It’s why he doesn’t like naming his favorite programs for fear of accidentally leaving one out. But perhaps more than anything, the lengthy list of schools prioritizing him makes it challenging to differentiate each program from the next.
As Cain works toward an end-of-summer top-5 list, the criteria he’ll use to separate his favorites is fairly simple.
“It’s really about the vibe. A lot of schools have the flashy things, the uniforms. Sometimes it’s about the coaches, but coaches leave every year,” Cain said. “So really it’s the vibe I get from the campus and the people around me. If I don’t get that genuine vibe from the people around me, that’s what I really care about.”
Auburn need not worry on that front.
In fact, the word “genuine” is one of the most common buzzwords Cain used to describe Auburn during our interview. He felt the Big Cat Weekend experience allowed him to see coaches such as Gus Malzahn and Tim Horton in a different light than he’s been able to view other staffs recruiting him.
“It’s just a real genuine vibe. You really don’t get that at every school. The coaching staff, you got to see them as people with their families, kids. It’s really about them family guys and not being two-faced when you get on campus,” Cain said. “I got that vibe from Coach Horton and Coach Malzahn. They’re family dudes. They’re just trying to be the best and do everything the right way.”
Malzahn and Horton are the coaches Cain hears from most often, but it’s not exclusive to those two. Cain said someone from the coaching staff — maybe it’ll be Greg Brown or Larry Porter — will reach out to him on a daily basis. The staff-wide interest proves to him how highly the Tigers are prioritizing him.
While schools such as LSU, Ohio State and Texas are mentioned more often, Cain made it clear that Auburn is firmly in the discussion.
“Auburn’s definitely a big factor in my recruitment. I talk to somebody from the staff every day of the week. They make me a priority. They make me feel at home. When I came back up here, I really wanted to see if I could see myself being here, envision myself doing it. I really can see myself being here,” Cain said.
“I don’t really care about flashiness, or anything like that. It’s about system fit for me. Auburn isn’t a flashy school. They’re about business. I’m about the same thing.”
Cain plans to narrow his list to five by the end of the summer. He’ll use the fall to take official visits and make a commitment decision in December.

South Florida RB cherishes first Auburn experience
Coming into his first Auburn visit, Kenny McIntosh had an idea of what to expect.
The South Florida running back had communicated heavily with area recruiter Larry Porter throughout the spring. But it was a 2018 signee who put him on to Auburn well before that, even though he hadn’t visited.
McIntosh and Auburn running back Shaun Shivers spoke about the Tigers well before McIntosh’s first visit.
“I’ve been talking to Worm a little bit. He’s been telling me things. That’s my guy, so we’ve been talking a little bit,” McIntosh said. “He tells me how he fits in with the players and how he vibes with them. He was telling me I needed to come up to see how they are, how they’re cool.
“Loved it. The atmosphere is great. I’ll definitely be back, probably for a game or something like that.”
Prior to Big Cat Weekend, McIntosh’s primary staff relationship was with Porter. McIntosh’s father and Porter had a relationship prior to Porter’s move to Auburn, so that has helped the Tigers’ cause.
Porter won’t be the lone coach at work after Big Cat Weekend, however. McIntosh met with running backs coach Tim Horton and the two hit it off.
“Not only are they winning Heismans — and that’s one of my goals — but I love the running backs coach,” McIntosh said. “He’s going to turn me into a really great running back.”
Auburn wasn’t the only trip he made over the course of the weekend.
McIntosh stopped at Alabama before Auburn and went to Georgia after Big Cat Weekend. Those three teams join Oklahoma and Miami as the schools most likely to land McIntosh’s services.

2-way athlete Tye Edwards prefers to play RB
Tye Edwards is a wanted commodity by Auburn coaches on both sides of the ball.
Tigers linebackers coach Tye Edwards sees the 3-star prospect from St. Augustine, Fla., as a fast, big body who would be a perfect fit for his linebacker room. Running backs coach Tim Horton shares similar feelings about Edwards at running back, especially with the loss of a big body such as Kamryn Pettway.
After Edwards’ Big Cat Weekend visit, it appears that Horton is more likely to win that battle.
“They offered as an athlete, but I think they want it mostly at running back because, to be honest, I don’t really like linebacker,” Edwards said. “I want to play running back, and they want me at running back.”
Edwards was at Auburn for the first time over the weekend with high school teammate Kenny Logan. The Tigers hit a home run with the first impression.
“I liked it. They’ve got a nice campus. It’s beautiful. The same running style they’ve got is what we run [in high school]. That gives them a good advantage over other teams,” Edwards said. “Big move. They’re trying to get me. They don’t have any big backs anymore because one just moved on. I’m trying to be the next to step up to that plate.”
