Four-star 2020 Auburn commit and Andy Boykin is sticking to his commitment, but will not turn any potential suitors away either.
"I told coach Garner I'm not going to turn any school down because you never know what's going to happen," Boykin said. "We'll just see what happens, but right now I'm still 100 percent Auburn."
I'll start worrying about him after we sign our top 5 2019 class

Auburn exceeds expectations for 4-star Maryland safety Nick Cross (AL.com)
quote:
Nick Cross hadn't visited Auburn prior to Big Cat Weekend, but the Maryland safety's official visit exceeded his expectations
"It was a memorable experience," Cross said of Auburn's Big Cat Weekend. "It definitely raised the chances (of committing to Auburn). It was good. It exceeded my expectations of what it would be. Auburn definitely has a shot."
Cross, a four-star safety out of powerhouse DeMatha Catholic, has also taken an official visit to Florida, plans to take officials to Alabama and Florida State in the coming weeks and might consider other schools he doesn't take official visits to.
He said there's a chance he'll come back to the Plains again before choosing where to commit and Auburn is "definitely up there" with his top schools.
Auburn safeties coach Greg Brown is Cross' primary recruiter and when he offered the chance to take an official visit to the SEC West, Cross wanted to see it for himself.
"Coach Brown and the staff expressed great interest in me. I'm a kid up North; you don't see them come up North too often," Cross said. "It was good. They offered me an official, I wanted to take it and test out the environment."
Ultimately the 6-foot, 208-pound Cross, who can play deep safety as well as Nickel, would like to make his college decision before his senior season.
Cross said the message from Auburn's coaching staff is to take the time he needs to decide.
"I want to get it out the way before the season just to be able to focus on the season," Cross said. "Whenever I feel comfortable making my decision, I'll make my decision."

Auburn 'No. 1' for 4-star athlete Zion Puckett (AL.com)
quote:
After his latest visit to the Plains, Zion Puckett says Auburn is at the top of his list of potential destinations for college.
The four-star athlete out of Spalding (Ga.) took his third trip to Auburn for Big Cat Weekend.
"Where it stands with Auburn is very high, I just got done talking with coach (Gus) Malzahn. I believe they are No. 1 for my priority," Puckett said. "No. 2, I would say right now would be Alabama.
"What sticks out from Auburn is I feel like this is a good fit for me."
Puckett spent some time with former high school teammate Brodarious Hamm, but Auburn is mainly recruiting him as a defensive back, primarily at corner. Though he's listed as a receiver by most recruiting services, Puckett will play on either side of the ball.
"Right now, it's still athlete but I'm mainly focusing on defense," he said. "I prefer to play is really anything that's good for the team, that'll help the team out."
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect is not planning to make his commitment until the "middle" of his senior season and has an unofficial visit planned for Tennessee later this month and Ohio State is also in the mix.
Puckett is planning to come back to Auburn again and intends to graduate in December and be an early enrollee.

Some juicy nuggets in KN's insider this morning. Here's recap
- Coaching staff feels like this might have been AU's best BCW under Malzahn. No commits but staff feel like in position to land some big ones down the road. Having former players Cam Newton, Montravius Adams, Ronnie Brown, Chris Davis and Carlos Rogers was a huge hit, especially with family members. All spent time speaking with families of recruits & talking about impact AU had on them. Adams apparently spent a long time talking to 4* Buck Derick Hall & his family on what AU, Garner specifically, meant to him. Apparently Gus has put more energy & focus into this recruiting class than any in the past. Obviously real success measurement comes in commitments down the road but staff feel really strongly they nailed event this year
- Getting 2 UGA commits on campus was big. Oklahoma has been the main team mentioned as threat to flip him but KN says they might be fading. Instead it's AU & MIA making the strongest push. AU loves fact they keep getting Haselwood on campus & source told KN "It's not like AU had to beg him to come". Haselwood came with 10 family members & has apparently told some privately he really likes idea of playing with George Pickens. Still long ways to go tho
- As for Marshall, KN says it's getting real. some close to AU & outside of AU (including Bama's Hank South) do not believe Marshall signs with UGA. In fact, many seem to think a decommit is coming soon. KN says don't write off UGA yet. He's going to visit Bama today, Tennessee soon then will get back to Athens. Always chance falls back in love with UGA on return trip. But AU has made a big move with T-WILL leading the charge along with Pappoe. The big key for AU is to get one of Marshall's parent on campus for summer visit. Growing confidence for AU that they got a good shot at landing him
- 2 guys that left AU really impressed were 4* ATH Zion Puckett & 3* DE Colby Wooden. Puckett called AU his leader while Wooden maintains top 2 of AU/CLEM tho many think AU is now ahead. A source told KN that AU staff view Puckett as "a freak" & he's a top priority. AU wants him at DB & he plans to OV in fall. Chance he pulls trigger before then tho. Wooden just feels at home at AU & plans to commit in August. AU looking good for both
- 4* OG Keiondre Jones was last to arrive & first to leave. But KN says don't worry about that, staff feel even better about Jones than they did before event. He's made 5 known visits to AU this year with a 6th coming soon which will be an OV. AU/UF Battle with AU liking their chances
- AU very much in it for 4* OG William Putnam. AU/FSU are his top 2 & plans to commit this summer. He plans to return one more time before making decision. Putnam is very close with FSU OL coach but is a strong culture fit at AU. KN believes AU is in it but probably need another visit to seal the deal. Tim Horton & JB Grimes are leads on his recruitment
- 5* CB Andrew Booth had a good visit. Wasn't that long ago all of KN's sources were saying Booth was "all Clemson". That's changed & Booth is going back & forth between AU & CLEM. Landing Wooden, his teammate, would help AU. He plans to commit this summer. Pappoe thinks AU pulls it off

Elite 11 Finals: Weekend top performers (247)
quote:
LOS ANGELES -- The third and final day of the Elite 11 Finals wrapped up from Redondo (Calif.) Union High School in Southern California with the 7-on-7 portion of the event.
Twenty-four of the nation’s top quarterbacks were in the Southland this weekend in hopes of being one of the 12 signal callers invited to The Opening Finals in Dallas, where the prestigious competition takes place June 29 through July 3.
Sunday was the passing competition against a live 7-on-7 defense, where all 24 participants had 15 minutes to orchestrate their offense and attempt as many 40-yard drives as possible.
The following rankings take the 7-on-7 portion into account, but also factors in Saturday's pro-day workout that was scored on a point system for accuracy, delivery and timing, and also how each quarterback fared Friday through a variety of drills and footwork stations. This list of 12 is based solely on the three-day performance from the weekend -- it's not necessarily a list of our 12 best college prospects.
Here is 247Sports' look at the top performers from all three days at the Elite 11 Finals.

NO. 3 BO NIX, PINSON (ALA.) PINSON VALLEY
No. 3 Bo Nix, Pinson (Ala.) Pinson Valley. Committed to Auburn. Nix is one of the most college-ready quarterbacks in this group. He’s a smart, accurate quarterback who throws with touch and has better arm strength than given credit for. He made some strong throws into the wind Sunday that were very impressive and has an advanced feel for the position and reading a defense.

FWIW JLee says 4* LB Donte Starks didn't make it to BCW because he couldn't work transportation out with his family.

I won't include Nathan Pickering because he's only visited once but he would be at the top of my list if he makes it back to campus
4* Buck Derick Hall - Massive frame, really good athlete. Will need some coaching but super high upside. He's the prototype for Buck prospects IMO
3* Buck/DE Colby Wooden - Could be a day 1 impact player. Sounds like we are recruiting at Buck but I think he grows into a SDE. Not as great an athlete as Hall but probably more developed
4* DE Charles Moore - Only has sophomore tape because missed junior year with ACL so interested to see what he looks like this year. Looked explosive two years ago & dominant in short spaces. Could see him grow into a DT but his future is probably at SDE. See some Marlon Davidson in his game
4* DE/DT Justin Eboigbe - Probably my favorite DL target behind Pickering. Very raw but reminds me a ton of Nick Coe coming out of high school. Freak athlete with a chance to be dominant at really any position at next level
4* DT Jaren Handy - I think he's a DT all the way. Massive dude with a ton of potential but raw imo. Tends to play standing straight up which is something Garner will hammer him about. But he's quick & powerful
My amateur picks

Moore: Auburn 'even, tit for tat' with Mississippi State (Rivals)
quote:
AUBURN | Four-star defensive end Charles Moore is committed to Mississippi State, but don’t count out Auburn.
Moore isn’t. Not after a four-day visit for Big Cat.
“Auburn is right there even, tit for tat with Mississippi State,” Moore said. “Just the family atmosphere (at Auburn), the beautiful campus and it is laid back. I like it.”
Moore, from Louisville, Miss., arrived in Auburn on Friday and stayed until Monday. Several family members, including his father, who is working in nearby Opelika, joined Moore in Auburn.
Moore spent a lot of time during his visit with Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner. The two have developed a strong bond, one that grew stronger over the weekend. Garner is a big reason Moore has interest in Auburn. So are the other coaches, including area recruiter Marcus Woodson.
“All the coaches, not just Coach Garner, all the coaches,” Moore said. “It seems like everybody is together here. When you have that type of chemistry, I feel like you can win a lot of football games if the work is put in.”
Moore plans to return to Auburn at least once more. He doesn’t mind making the 4.5-hour drive from Louisville. Distance from home will not be a big factor when making his college choice.
“Traveling is not a big deal,” Moore said. “I can go as far as Oregon and be comfortable with it. I’m a traveling guy; I like to travel. Getting me out of Mississippi won’t be a big issue.”
Moore also is considering LSU, Tennessee and Georgia, among others, but his focus at this time is on two schools.
“As of right now, Auburn and Mississippi State are my top two,” he said.
Rivals ranks Moore the No. 17 strongside defensive end in the 2019 class and No. 6 overall recruit in Mississippi.

Big Cat big hit for Wooden (Rivals)
quote:
AUBURN | Big Cat was a big hit for Colby Wooden.
The defensive end from Archer (Lawrenceville, Ga.) was one of 31 top recruits in Auburn on Saturday for the Tigers’ premiere recruiting event.
“It was great. I loved it,” Wooden said. “We played Family Feud, had a scavenger hunt, ate a bunch of food and I did the pie-eating contest. Of course, I lost being the skinny kid.”
Wooden’s parents and younger brother joined him in Auburn. They arrived Saturday and stayed until Sunday. It was Wooden’s second overnight visit to Auburn – the first coming in April.
Wooden entered Big Cat already high on Auburn and continued to be after his exit.
“Auburn stands very high on my list,” Wooden said. “I really enjoy it here. I love the family atmosphere, the coaches. I’m like a second son to the coaches. I just love the place, the facilities, how the coaches interact with the players and how they have fun. It’s just a cool environment.”
Wooden lists Auburn and Clemson as his top two schools. A commitment to one of them could happen this summer.
“I’ll probably make my decision in August,” he said.
Wooden plans to return to Auburn before making his decision.
“I’ll definitely be back,” Wooden said.
