-Four-star defensive end Nathan Pickering, Seminary: Pickering says a lot of good things about Auburn, but has only visited the Tigers once and it seems like he may be leaning elsewhere at this time. Keep an eye on Alabama, LSU and the in-state schools. The good news for Auburn: He hopes to visit again at some point.

-Five-star linebacker Nakobe Dean, Horn Lake: Dean has no official leader but said he mostly likely will end up in the SEC. Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State and Ole Miss are in the mix with the Tigers. Possibly Stanford, too. He’s a straight-A student. Georgia may be a sleeper here. Auburn secondary coach Marcus Woodson not only is recruiting Dean, but his mother. Sources tell us she has a big role in this recruitment.

-Three-star cornerback Raydarious Jones, Horn Lake: Jones is wide open right now but is high on Auburn. His chances of ending up with the Tigers will be greatly determined by how hard Auburn recruits him. With two corners already committed, spots are at a premium. That could push him elsewhere.

-Four-star defensive back Brandon Turnage of Oxford Lafayette: The Alabama commit visited Auburn earlier this year and could return. Right now, he's talking up the Tide a good bit. But if something should happen with that commitment, Auburn potentially could become a factor. Also keep an eye on Ole Miss.

Who said it was easy? That is what works even with some deficiencies at OL.

Sure and I don't think anyone would argue recruiting the Deshaun Watsons & Justin Fields of the world is what Auburn should do. But banking on landing guys like that isn't a sound recruiting strategy. So do you then go to that next tier of dual threat QBs hoping you hit on another Nick Marshall/Lamar Jackson or do you stay open to the idea of recruiting a top pro style guy like Jarrett Stidham/Bo Nix?

(Yes I'm aware Stidham was listed as dual threat but I think we can all agree he's not the dual threat ya'll are talking about )

FYI KN says he thinks AU's best shot with those MS kids right now is Derick Hall & Jaren Handy. I would be perfectly happy with that hall especially if we can pull Justin Eboigbe & Colby Wooden out of GA as well

I’ve been team true dual threat QB since our misadventures in 2011. I can’t believe that anyone who has watched GUS at AU since 2009 would argue that his offense isn’t better with a true running QB. This isn’t saying Gus can be successful with ANY running QB (like just putting in a fast guy), he obviously needs a guy that can pass fairly well, especially a deep ball. It should also be clarified a running QB shouldn’t be a guy that is mobile enough to avoid sacks and occasionally pick up a first down, but should be a guy that is capable of running numerous set plays well.

I ain’t sayin’ Gus’ offense isn’t or can’t be very good with a guy like Stidham, but a Marshall guy is how we can win a championship.

Talking about what type of QB should be recruited is not appropriate conversation in the recruiting thread?

Noob

Recruiting threads used to have a lot more flare ups than this. Stop being a puss.

Wrong on all fronts. Not a noob. And they aren’t discussing what type of a QB should be recruited. We have our QB recruit - Bo, and he’s been mentioned maybe twice. It’s about Gus’ offense. And it’s two positions that neither party is going to change so why the frick do we need 5 pages of the back and forth?

And I’d love to see a RECRUITing flare up there butch, but this isn’t one. Just overkill diatribes.

Nick Marshall/Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson would have wrecked shite at Auburn. Nick Marshall did wreck shite and accomplished the stats I said was needed.

I would take Marshall and Jackson all day long.

The fact we signed a guy that is considered an athlete on 247 ought to tell you what Malzahn thinks about this discussion.

There were 13 DT QB's 4 star or higher in 2018
and 11 Pro style at 4 star or higher. So why is everyone saying it isn't easy getting a top DT yet not a word about easy or hard when it comes to Pro style? As if the Stidhams are in abundance.

I do agree with you that his conversation has gone on far enough and that is is pretty much in the wrong place but you can say the above about any conversation here.

Its sorta recruiting related. Not like we started a tequila conversation or I started talking about the new boat I am about to purchase.

It's hard to find a championship calibre QB period. Pro style or dual threat. It's even harder if you cut the talent pool in half out the gate. That's my point. Recruit all 24 guys. If you end up with 2 that want to jump on board and one is mobile then take the mobile guy. But don't refuse to offer/recruit pro style guys as well

2019 Skeeter ZX250. My local dealer I work with changed to Skeeter a few years back.

I have been in a Triton since 1996. I have had 8 new ones and won 2 more. To be honest, there is probably not a person on earth who has fished more days out of a Triton. I bought the 5th boat they ever built and have been with them since. For most of those years, I fished 230-250 days per year. Really hate to change.

The defense carried us last year in a bunch of games. Not true in 2010 and 2013

In conf we scored:

51 v Mizz
49 v MSU
44 v Ole Miss
23 v LSU
52 v Ark
42 v TAMU
40 v UGA
26 v Bama

Just under 41 ppg. I'm sorry but that isn't the defense carrying the team. We had one of the most explosive and unpredictable offenses in the country for most of the season last year. That wasn't a traditional Gus offense either. You could see a lot of Lindsey influence in the play designs.

The defense either carried us or held tight until the offenses got going in several games-Clemson, UGA, Bama, and countless others.

Not much different than 2010 and 2013.

Obviously the 2017 defense was better than '10 and '13, but you don't win big without at LEAST an opportunistic defense or one that can hold their own a few times per game.

Interesting tidbit from Rusty on 247 today when talking about UGA's 2017 class. Says Andrew Booth is turning into an AU/CLEM battle. I say that's interesting because UGA 247 mods have been pushing UGA as the #2 team for awhile now so for them to start talking about AU as the real threat that's a real positive sign for AU
