Auburn WR signee Anthony Schwartz wins Florida state 100-meter title in record time (SECCountry)
quote:
Anthony Schwartz’s speed never ceases to amaze.
The Auburn wide receiver signee has long held the title of “fastest high schooler in the nation,” thanks to countless youth records. He’s long been considered the alpha dog among South Florida’s lightning fast track athletes. Schwartz winning a 100-meter dash shouldn’t surprise anyone.
He still found a way to do that Saturday.
The obvious: Schwartz finished first to win the Florida High School Athletic Association 100-meter state championship. The surprise: Schwartz set a new personal record of 10.07 seconds — a .06-second improvement on his previous best.
Schwartz’s time broke his own previously held youth state and national record in the 100.
Here is Schwartz’s winning run.

If you blinked and missed it, you can check out the slow-motion version below.

Schwartz’s high school teammate and Georgia cornerback signee Tyson Campbell finished second. Auburn running back signee Shaun Shivers placed third in the race. Campbell and Shivers both finished with times of 10.38. Race officials had to go to thousandths of a second to separate the two in the race. Campbell beat out Shivers by .002 seconds.

BREAKING: Tight end Tyler Fromm, brother of Georgia quarterback, commits to Auburn (SECCountry)
quote:
AUBURN, Ala. — The stakes just got a little higher for the Fromm family in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.
Tyler Fromm, the younger brother of Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm, committed to Auburn on Saturday while on a visit with his mother and father. It was Fromm’s fifth known visit in a two-month span, which should’ve given a solid idea of where the Warner Robins (Ga.) tight end was leaning.
Fromm’s commitment makes him the seventh member of Auburn’s 2019 class and the third pledge since Monday. With Fromm’s commitment, the Tigers move up five spots to No. 16 in the 247Sports composite team rankings. Auburn beat out Florida and South Carolina for Fromm’s services.
“Auburn’s definitely family oriented. That made me feel like a priority. Offensively, I just feel like I can fit in,” Fromm said. “The past few weeks, I’ve just been thinking about it a lot. I’ve been looking at the pros and cons and what I’d get out of it after school ends and football ends.”
Fromm did his due diligence before making this decision.
He’d been to Auburn a handful of times this spring. On each occasion, Auburn’s offensive staff made it clear they wanted him to jump on board sooner rather than later. He told them after the spring game he “wanted to wait it out” a few weeks longer to make sure he knew what his choice would be.
As it turned out, that wait didn’t last much longer.
Fromm is the first tight end to commit in Auburn’s 2019 class, but he’s likely not the last. The Tigers wanted to add two tight ends since the beginning of the cycle. Fromm has that process halfway finished with a few other targets such as Luke Deal and Sean Brown ready to make May decisions, as well.
Fromm caught 43 passes for 529 yards and 5 touchdowns during his junior season at Warner Robins High School.
As for the interesting family connection, his brother Jake didn’t receive advance notice of the new rivalry.
“I haven’t talked to Jake yet,” Tyler laughed. “But he’s going to be proud of me. He wants me to go somewhere I can make an impact. He’s going to be proud of me.”

It's crazy how top heavy Alabama has become. I know we've never been a very deep state as far as talent goes, but it seems like the past few years there has a been a huge drop from the top 7 or 8 to the rest.

5-star CB Andrew Booth calls Auburn ‘definitely’ contender after return visit (SECCountry)
KN still seems to think AU is sitting #2 behind Clemson FYI but obvious we are threat in this race
quote:
AUBURN, Ala. — For a 5-star prospect, Andrew Booth sure knows how to fly under the radar.
The Archer (Ga.) cornerback doesn’t attend many national camps in search of recruiting service attention. He won’t pride himself on his performances at any of those events, if he happens to attend. Booth understands football is an 11-on-11 sport, and it’s in that arena that his football success truly matters.
Booth’s mentality is a big reason why he has emerged as the nation’s No. 1 cornerback.
It’s that mindset that has Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee fighting for Booth’s commitment.
“College coaches just like my swag, just how I play the position,” Booth said. “I don’t play it like any other corner. We play different. I step out different. I’m not afraid of anybody, but God, of course. It’s that confidence I step out with every night. They like my personality, my physicality, how I play the DB position, my football smarts.”
When it comes to Booth’s recruitment, he doesn’t make much known publicly.
He estimated he’d been to Auburn three or four times this spring, but outside of one Twitter post — which he published a month later — Booth hasn’t said much about his Plains visits. For that reason, Auburn has been spun as a team on the outside for the 5-star cornerback, with teams such as Clemson and Florida State ahead of the Tigers.
Booth said that’s not the case at all.
“Auburn is definitely involved. It’s definitely relationships, the family feel. You know, every year, they’re going to be in the talk for championships,” Booth said. “Auburn is definitely one of the tops.”
The Auburn visit came at a particularly interesting time given the buzz earlier in the week.
Five-star linebacker Owen Pappoe committed to the Tigers at the beginning of the week. Pappoe and Booth have a close friendship, and Pappoe made it clear already that Booth will be one of his top recruiting targets. It took less than a week for the Tigers to get Booth and his entire family on campus for a visit.
Here’s Booth interpretation of how Pappoe’s commitment helps the Tigers for him.
“It helps, but at the end of the day, we’re two different guys,” Booth said. “But you know, his position helps my position, and I help his. At the end of the day, it comes down to what’s best for me. He told me to do what’s best for you, but you know what it is.”
Booth would like to have a college decision before the start of his senior season. That decision could be made next week. Or it could be a week before the season. The latter is slightly more likely, but Booth is unpredictable and admitted he didn’t even know he was going on his Auburn visit until 1 a.m. the day before, so anything is possible.
He plans to make it back to Auburn for Big Cat Weekend on June 2.
“It was beautiful. I liked it a lot. Relationships were definitely built,” Booth said. “I got to watch film. I got to chop it a lot with coaches, everybody.”
KN still seems to think AU is sitting #2 behind Clemson FYI but obvious we are threat in this race

TE commits to Auburn (Rivals)
quote:
AUBURN | Warner Robins (Ga.) tight end Tyler Fromm has committed to Auburn.
Fromm, the younger brother of UGA quarterback Jake Fromm, committed to the Tigers after visiting again on Saturday.
“Auburn is family oriented and made me feel like a priority,” Tyler Fromm said. “Offensively, I feel like I can fit in and be used in different ways.”
Fromm’s visit Saturday was his fourth to Auburn. He made his decision to commit midway through the visit after meeting with Gus Malzahn.
“Coach Malzahn went over some stuff about how the offense would use the tight end like (Philip) Lutzenkirchen and (C.J.) Uzomah,” Fromm said. “I just feel like I can fit in and make an impact.”
Fromm said he chose Auburn over Florida and South Carolina. His brother, Jake, will be happy about the news.
“He’ll be proud of me,” Tyler Fromm said. “He wants me to go somewhere I can play and make an impact.”
Tyler Fromm is scheduled to graduate in December and enroll at Auburn in January. He is the seventh commitment in the Tigers’ 2019 class and fourth from Georgia.

Auburn 'definitely' in mix for No. 5 CB (Rivals)
quote:
AUBURN | Archer (Lawrenceville, Ga.) cornerback Andrew Booth would like to make a commitment soon and one school under strong consideration to receive it is Auburn.
Booth, whom Rivals ranks the No. 5 cornerback in the 2019 class, visited the Tigers again on Saturday along with several family members.
“Auburn is definitely involved (with me),” Booth said. “Definitely one of my top (schools).”
Booth and family met with several Auburn coaches during the visit, including coach Gus Malzahn, defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson, defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and area recruiter Travis Williams.
“It was my third or fourth visit and it was beautiful,” Booth said. “I liked it a lot. I got to watch film. I got to chop it up a lot with the coaches. Relationships were definitely built stronger with everybody: Woodson, T-Will, Coach Steele, the head coach, everybody. They like my personality, my physicality and how I play the DB position. They like my football smarts and how great of an athlete I am.”
Booth has developed strong bonds with the coaches, particularly Woodson, who is in his first year at Auburn.
“Coach Woodson has that swag,” Booth said. “He has the swag that we (DBs) got. That’s just how he coaches and how he recruits.”
Booth said Woodson is only one reason he is high on Auburn.
“The relationships and the family feel,” Booth said. “And every year they are going to be in the talk for championships.”
It also doesn’t hurt Auburn’s chances with Booth that it received a commitment last week from Owen Pappoe, who is ranked the No. 1 outside linebacker in the class and is a close friend .
“It helps,” Booth said. “But at the end of the day we are two different guys and it will be what’s best for me.”
Booth lists Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee as his top schools. A commitment could come anytime before the fall.
“I want to have (a commitment) before the season,” Booth said. “It could be right before (the season) or anytime (before it).”
Booth plans to return to Auburn in June.
“I’m going to try and make it back June 2,” he said.
Rivals ranks Booth, who is 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, the No. 5 overall player in Georgia and No. 30 in the Rivals100.

Roster boost coming in May (Rivals)
quote:
MONTGOMERY | Auburn’s roster is expected to receive a boost in three more weeks with a big group of signees set to enroll.
Gus Malzahn is confident all but one of Auburn’s remaining 16 signees will join the team on May 27.
“We're expecting all of our signees,” Malzahn said. “Arryn Siposs is the only one that will probably end up in the second summer session. The rest of the guys, we feel like, have a high likelihood of being there the first session.”
Siposs, the punter signee from Australia, is expected to arrive in Auburn before the start of the second summer mini-semester on June 25.
Malzahn and his staff signed 24 players in a class rated No. 12 nationally by Rivals.com. Malzahn has had just two non-qualifiers in his previous five classes and both of them came last year.
“Just overall I look at this class and they’re very athletic with a lot of character. The academics was very important to them,” Malzahn said. "I’ll just say our staff did a super job developing relationships, identifying talented kids that have great character and so we got guys that can really come in here and help us right off the bat. I’m extremely excited to have this class signed and here.”
The 15 players expected to enroll at the end of May include running backs Shaun Shivers and Harold Joiner, wide receivers Anthony Schwartz, Matthew Hill and Seth Williams, offensive linemen Jalil Irvin and Kameron Stutts, defensive linemen Coyniss Miller, Kayode Oladele, Caleb Johnson and Richard Jibunor, linebackers Zakoby McClain and Michael Harris and defensive backs Roger McCreary and Kolbi Fuqua.
The roster should be further upgraded with the addition of UMass grad transfer Jack Driscoll, who is expected to enroll later this month. Driscoll, who has two years of eligibility remaining, will compete for the starting right tackle position during fall camp.
Auburn’s eight other signees enrolled in January.

KN had a recruiting insider up yesterday morning & last night. Here's summary
- After talking with some sources, KN is pretty sure Fromm's commitment won't have an impact on Luke Deal. He's set to commit May 25th & it's thought to be an AU/MICH/ND battle. AU likes where they sit right & some think Tigers might be team to beat. AU still continues to recruit 3* TE Sean Brown as well but Tennessee is probably the team to beat (I personally want Deal over all these guys)
- KN says he's been told AU has a legitimate shot at landing 5* CB Andrew Booth. However, they are probably not the favorite right now, CLEM probably still in 1st. AU is trending up tho & getting him back for BCW would be big
- Feeling is AU is in it more for 4* CB Tyrique Stevenson than may believe. He's visited AU twice this year & could be back later this summer. KN says give credit to Larry Porter & Marcus Woodson in this that recruitment
- KN believes Kevin Steele is AU's most underrated recruiter. Recruits tell him all the time how easy it is to talk with Steele
- It's currently an AU/MSST battle for Buck target 4* Derick Hall. OM is solidly in the next tier. Bama might be close to offering. Hall has been to AU 3 times & wants to return for BCW (FWIW he's said multiple times that he really wants an UGA offer so that's something to watch too)
- 4* DL Nathan Pickering has only visited AU once this year but hopes to get back to campus soon. Possibly for BCW tho says 2 other of his top schools have something going on that weekend so not 100% sure yet if he will make it. Bama/LSU/MSST are 3 schools recruiting hardest. Steele & Garner visited practice recently (FWIW I think we are a longshot right now especially if he elects to miss BCW)

I like the way Keith is approaching his reporting on Booth. When we start trending, yet he plays his cards close to his vest, we tend to have positive outcomes. He hasn’t CB’d him to AU, but if Booth shows up for BCW, I won’t be surprised if we see him make that play. He is money, and the Gwinnett County kids lack of UGA love coupled with Travis Williams being the area recruiter, it is a good situation for us IMO.

Surely, Booth told Wolk something last weekend though which makes Wolk believe Booth is leaning AU instead of Clemson. Just a guess.

quote:Not necessarily. He's could be making a somewhat early projection hoping it gets him big crystal ball points down the line. While us fans only care about correct % the pickers are awarded points based on how soon they make a projection before the recruit commits.

Not saying you're wrong but I feel like Wolk doesn't usually CB guys to AU just on a whim. Hopefully he heard/knows something. That would be such a huge pickup.
