Really excited about this kid. He is just a football player, pure and simple.
He loves contact, and that is why I think he winds up at Safety. Plus, we need bodies there. Kolbi reminds me of Atkinson, but taller, with a great nose for the ball.

Scout sent an alert about a recruit. Someone commit?

We landed a basketball commit in JUCO Malik Dunbar. Don't think any football guys committed

Still sounds like AU/LSU battle for Fehoko. He is announcing on Twitter tomorrow at 3 pm CT. I think LSU is gonna be the pick based on way he talks publicly about them but KN seems to think AU very much still in race and it's too close to call right now

Decision Day: Auburn target Breiden Fehoko to announce decision (AL.com)
My bet is LSU but would be nice to land this guy

Today's the big day for Breiden Fehoko.
The former Texas Tech defensive lineman has decided to transfer and is expected to announce his new commitment Monday.
Fehoko's finalists are Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss. He took official visits to all four schools, wrapping things up last weekend in Athens, Ga.
"Really, I just needed to see how I fit in," Fehoko told 247Sports. "I did not need to see a recruiting spiel, I just wanted to see how I could make their program better and how they would help me reach my ultimate goal of making it to the NFL. I wanted to see how I would be developed - I played in the Big 12 and wanted to play in the SEC. This redshirt year will be big for me before the 2018 season so I just want to see how much development I would get as a player. That is really what factors my decision."
Auburn was the first school to host Fehoko for an official visit in March. He said he was "speechless" by what he saw on the Plains.
"First and foremost, I enjoyed the hospitality," he said at the time. "Second, I really enjoyed how everybody was really transparent and just real honest about seeing me play here and how they can better my skill set and how they develop me as a football player. ... I asked a dozen questions, and coach (Rodney) Garner having the track record he has makes it a lot easier."
Fehoko will be forced to sit out the 2017 season due to the NCAA transfer policy and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
As a freshman and sophomore at Texas Tech, he started all 25 games for Red Raiders and had 38 tackles, including 7.5 for loss and two sacks.
At Farrington High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, Fehoko was ranked as a four-star prospect and the nation's No. 50 overall recruit in the 2015 recruiting class by the 247Sports Composite.
My bet is LSU but would be nice to land this guy

Texas Tech defense has AIDS worse than any program in America, don't want anything to do with anyone or anything that has ever had to do with defense there the last few years.

Would have been a bonus for sure but hopefully now we will offer 4* kid out of Montgomery, Alfred Thomas. I want Thomas and Miller at DT this cycle
Posted on 4/17/17 at 1:38 pm to TigerPaw1
Hopefully already on that. Let's get some 4 stars rolling in baby!

So what you're saying is that LSU is in more desperate need of quality DL than we are?

Damn, Savage, AIDS doesn't begin to describe it.

I think the interest is just in tapping his potential but I don't consider it a miss. I like the DTs we've signed.

I should have clarified it was like the 80s version of AIDS.

Recently offered Tampa DB to visit Tigers 'soon' (247)
Really like his film. Would love to get this kid
quote:
Back when he was an assistant at Missouri, Greg Brown got to know a defensive back from Tampa Jesuit (Fla.). The player’s name: Kendrick Torain.
Last week, the two got reacquainted. It started with a phone call. Then, a couple days later, Auburn, where Brown is now secondary coach, offered.
“I think Coach Brown is a good coach,” Torain said. “He knows what he is talking about. Before he was at Auburn, he was at Missouri. I was already on his radar.”
Torain is unrated by 247Sports at this time, but claims 20-plus offers. He recently visited Georgia.
Although he has no official leaders, when asked which teams stood out Torain replied, “Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee and North Carolina.” He holds offers from each.
Most schools likely are intrigued by Torain’s size. He’s 6-feet-2, 200 pounds and can play corner or safety. Auburn “probably” wants him at safety, but Torain prefers corner because “I’ve just been playing it my whole life.”
“Coach Brown said he liked the way I played,” Torain said. “He likes that I’m a long defensive back with a big frame.”
Torain had four interceptions in 2017 for a Jesuit team that reached the state semifinals.
For now, Torain has “medium” interest in Auburn.
“It’s a big program,” he said. “I’ve heard a lot of good things about them. I’ll know more when I go up there. I’m trying to visit. I’m not sure exactly when the date will be, but I know I’m going up there soon.”
Also, Torain expects Brown to visit him soon. Jesuit begins spring practice April 24.
As for a commitment timetable, Torain said it’s 50-50 he could do something before his senior season begins.
Really like his film. Would love to get this kid

Tigers have big edge with 4-star safety (247)
quote:
Some recruits don't like to tip their hand too much. Quindarious Monday isn't one of them. Ask him who leads and he doesn't hesitate to answer. It's Auburn -- and by a lot. The reason? "Auburn is showing the most love," he said. Monday, a 4-star safey from Carver High, favors the Tigers over Florida and Florida State at the moment. His recruitment isn't over -- but Auburn is in great shape to land his commitment at this time. Here's a quick update from Monday. We'll have a more comprehensive report later in the week.

KN put up update on his CB pick for 4* S Quindarious Monday. Says he feels even more confident in that pick from a few weeks ago and think there's a chance he jumps on board after his next visit. Not sure when that visit is but could be Big Cat Weekend. Either way sounds like he is a guy on commit watch right now

Also KN has recruiting insider up this morning. He was on the road yesterday visiting a few of Auburn's top targets
- One of the first stops was Lithonia, GA to see 3* DE Caleb Tannor. Tigers have made him a clear priority with both Travis Williams and Rodney Garner after him. We like him at the Buck spot. He really likes UGA a lot but they want him to camp this summer before making offer commitable, we would take him now. Florida is another team that could get in the hunt. Another thing helping Auburn is his coach once worked with Travis Williams and the two are still pretty close
- Tigers are trending up for 4* S Quindarious Monday and apparently we have a pretty significant lead. Florida and Florida State are in his second group but as of now no one seems to be close to AU mainly because we are recruiting him so hard. His HS coach says it's come down to simple fact that we are recruiting him the hardest of any school and he appreciates it. A team to keep an eye on is Georgia who he's visiting this weekend but barring some major changes the Tigers look like the landing spot and it could happen soon
- It's a 2 team battle for 4* OG Clay Webb. Will probably be the major AU/Bama battle in 2019. Early on we were the team to beat but Bama kicked it up a notch with Saban visiting to see his wrestling match and other stuff like that. He's still high on AU though and Tigers are getting help from former 4* LB KJ Britt who is his teammate. Big problem for AU is he's real close with 4* OT Pierce Quick who seems like a Bama lock. Good news though is Webb will be at UGA's spring game this weekend and not Bama's
- 3* DT Jalen Cunningham does not have an offer from AU but has visited AU recently. KN says kid is all Bama and will probably pull trigger soon. Tigers wanted to evaluate him this spring before offering and apparently some think he might be better as an OG. But basically once Bama offered this race was over
So 4* WR Matthew Hill and 4* S Quindarious Monday could both be jumping on at Big Cat Weekend. That would be a nice boost to class heading into the summer

This is a pretty long article so will break it up but really good read
Long drives, spicy food and lost luggage: What it's like to be an Auburn assistant (AL.com)
Long drives, spicy food and lost luggage: What it's like to be an Auburn assistant (AL.com)
quote:
Tim Horton never gets tired of his job. There's an element to it, even after nearly three decades, that he has come to appreciate.
For college coaches, the annual calendar is cyclical, and it helps keep job duties fresh throughout the year and devoid of monotony.
"The one great thing about our job is about the time you get tired of spring practice, you go spring recruiting," Horton said last month. "About the time you get tired of spring recruiting, you go into the camp season. About the time you're sick of camp, you go to vacation. Then vacation you go to fall camp and then you go to the season."
It's a series of routines, and the seasonal shifts in focus are part of what Horton -- a 28-year coaching veteran -- said keeps the job fun after all this time.
With spring practice now wrapped up for Auburn, and the NCAA evaluation period underway, it's again time for the Tigers' coaching staff to shift their focus toward offseason recruiting -- and plenty of time on the road.
"Your favorite recruiting trip stories are when you get the fish," Horton said. "It's like you go fishing and you go to special spot and it's a special spot because you caught that big bass there. For me, just being able to get that guy, when he tells you, 'Coach, I'm coming,' that's the best kind."
With so many recruits often making their commitments while on campus or on National Signing Day, however, those "big bass" moments are more rare -- leaving coaches with plenty of room for other memories during these road trips that they have come to embrace.

Recruiting trips mean lots of time spent on the open roads of Alabama, Georgia and Florida for Auburn's coaching staff. That is, unless head coach Gus Malzahn is along for the ride, in which case charter planes are the usual form of transportation.
"The one good thing when you go with Gus, most of the time you fly so you get to go back home at night and sleep in your bed," Horton said.
Otherwise, it's hundreds of miles and countless hours spent in the car to visit prospective student-athletes, their schools, coaches and families.
"It's fun," linebacker coach Travis Williams said. "It's fun, and you travel with Coach Malzahn, travel with coach (Rodney) Garner and coach (Kevin) Steele or whoever. Everyone has a different personality. Some people talk in the car. Some people are quiet in the car. Some people are on their phone. Some people, it's just different."
There's an eclectic mix of personalities on Auburn's staff, but unlike the rest of the year when they're on the football field or within Auburn's athletic complex, those personalities are confined to a much tighter space on recruiting trips when packed into a car.
Williams is one of Auburn's more talkative coaches on road trips, claiming he and defensive line coach Rodney Garner are the most boisterous of the bunch when traveling in cars. Williams also prefers to be behind the steering wheel on such trips, a preference he shares with wide receivers coach Kodi Burns.
"Yeah, there's some guys you have to watch when they drive," Burns said. "You're always hitting bumps and making sure they're awake. There are some guys I try not to let drive."
Neither Williams nor Burns would name names of the nefarious drivers on Auburn's staff, but offensive line coach Herb Hand wasn't about to throw stones from his glass house when asked, either.
"I'm not driving Miss Daisy over here," Hand said, referencing the Pulitzer Prize-winning play (and subsequent 1989 movie) of the same name.
Beyond avoiding the more questionable drivers on staff, Burns has another reason for his desire to drive on road trips: control of the in-ride music. When Burns is behind the wheel, there's no struggle for the coveted aux cord.
"I don't want anyone else playing some stuff I don't want to hear," Burns said. "... I kind of run that deal."
At times, the music can drown out the noise in the car; the constant conversation admittedly bothers Burns sometimes, and though road trip music is essential, it's not always necessary.
While the long drives are ideal for staff bonding -- joking around, building more personal ties to each other away from the football field --they can be beneficial in other ways too. The staff often uses the prolonged time on the road for brainstorming sessions.
"Those are the times you really bounce off ideas and just talk about life," Burns said.
Burns sounds like a grouch (cue meta)
