I'm still trying to figure out how we missed on Langham.. don't we have enough recruiting geographical problems to be missing out on an AU fan?
Few things
1.) Didn't start landing major offers until after senior year and early signing period. His tape is solid but he's not elite. However with a limited pool his value increased
2.) AU missing on OTs has opened up an extra spot. Original goal was 2 OTs but now we just desperate for one. Means we got an extra spot for another position like DT
3.) Andres Fox was higher on our board and a confirmed silent commit until he got into Stanford. We had our top DTs on board so no need to recruit others
It sucks we got in so late but I think he's a solid not great option honestly. Would love to sign him but not like he was a can't miss prospect. He's an example of some prospects that will benefit by waiting instead of signing early. Same thing happened with Taiyon Palmer

LOL. He's 250 pounds. You really don't think Auburn can tack 40-50 pounds on a kid in 2 years?
Sure you can make a kid fat, that doesn't mean they can play DT. Of the top 20 tackles in this class one weighs 263 the next lowest is 277 and most are 285+

Yeah, AU sucks at getting good DEs. Antonio Coleman, Corey Lemonier, Dee Ford, Carl Lawson, Jeff Holland. Just pure suck.
Your first four were not recruited by this staff. Lawson is one and Holland grew into one but our philosophy on the DL def seems to be getting big dudes that can move around and play different positions but we aren't recruiting/landing many true edge rushing DEs at the moment. That seems to be the Buck function.

I mean that's exactly what we are doing. We run a hybrid 4-3/3-4 system that utlizes a strong side end & a Buck linebacker. Those are 2 different skillsets. Garner also likes to recruit guys that can play a multitude of positions so he can give lots of different looks with same personnel. Guys like Nick Coe, Marlon Davidson & Andrew Williams lined up all over the place
We are still recruiting true rush ends (Big Kay Bryant, Caleb Tannor) but also linebackers we think can grown into ends (TD Moultry, Richard Jibunor). Not sure why that's a bad thing. Our DL has been outstanding the past 2 seasons using this philosophy
Plus Malik Langham is not a true rush end neither was Andres Fox. Both are SDE that will probably grow into DTs. Tannor/Jibunor are the pass rushers in this class

quote:Umm. Near the exact same height, weight, & frame as A-Will was out of high school. What do ya know...A-Will is playing, that's right, DT at AU. Too bad Rodney does not have a clue what he wants from DLs or where to put them...Oh wait. He does.
Because he's way too small.

So some University of Miami fan just posted the following on the SEC Recruiting Board:
"Auburn rivals update says Walker informed then he's leaning elsewhere, likely to VOLS"
Can anyone confirm or deny? What is the source of this?

1. Learn what a melt is
2. I never said anything bad about our DL recruiting, I've defended it against Brannigan and anyone else for years now. I'm just saying we don't put a lot of Arden Key type speed edge rushers on the end of our defensive line.
3. Andres Fox does not have the frame for a SEC level DT sorry if that's got you ruffled

Tannor/Jibunor are the pass rushers in this class
Ok, but until like a week ago when we were missing on lots of other top targets it wasn't even known if Tannor was a take so it's not like he was a top priority.

Fox was the priority over Tannor. And KK just said himself that Fox wasn’t explosive to him.

Right, which is why I said he seems like a fit for us.

Fox was a fit. For anybody to say otherwise is sour grapes.
I got a message from a friend subscribed to a paysite that O is having an in home visit with Chase to try and convince him not to visit Auburn.

I assumed coach O would do that.
