KN has a chat going that has a few interesting nuggets in it if you want to sum them Paw.
Eh nothing too big in there
- KN does not think Olaijah Griffin will visit next weekend
- Thinks AU will take Caleb Tannor but also thinks AU could get Caleb Johnson if they wanted (FWIW KN seems to love Johnson)
- Unlikely to get OV from Malik Langham tho AU hoping for an unofficial
- Not sure AU knows if Fuqua will grashirt or not but KN speculated he thinks he will
- Apparently AU being tight lipped on actual spots left so it can't be used against them. KN still thinks it will 25-26 (tho I am not sure if Carlito Gonzalez signing with Memphis will allow AU to back count one, would be nice if we could)
- Doesn't have much info on 2019 guys yet but does think AU is a bigger player for Clay Webb than ppl think
KN also posted that Gus went to visit one of the top 2020 prospect DL McKinnley Jackson. He's an LSU commit but obviously 2020 signing day is long way away. Also says even tho there are some reports Joiner will OV to OM apparently Joiner told KN he not taking any visits

I don't know if it's the early signing period or just a weak finish for us but not this year's traditional SD looks like it's gonna be pretty lame.

Doesn't surprise me at all that Tenn is getting a visit from Campbell.. I think Quay Walker ends up signing with them too. Those 2 along with JJ Peterson would be a great pulls for Pruitt and give him a nice base to start rebuilding with.
As for us, Gouraige is the only must take imo. Any other open spots should just be for best available at this point... My guess is Anderson then Tannor. If Tannor doesn't have the grades I think they go with Johnson. I think that's it for us at CB this year, sadly.

I think early signing period will be the more wild one moving forward. Agreed that this signing day doesn't feel as exciting as others
Still holding out hope we get some excitement via any of Quay Walker/Justyn Ross/JaMarr Chase/Richard Gouraige. If we get Gouraige to visit next weekend think we got a shot at the late steal
But outside of that it will probably be a tame year which in some ways is good because means got most of what we need on board already. Outside of OT class is pretty solid

Ya the Walker/Peterson combo is a hell of a LB core to start building with in Knoxville. My posibarner heart still wants to believe we can work some magic on Walker

I think AU gets one of Calvin Anderson/Richard Gouraige. I am really hoping we get Tannor in this class. I have some concerns about Jibunor getting big enough to play the Buck so Tannor is nice insurance. I would love to land Chase purely for the LSU melt

I would take Chase in a second, but we have tons of WR and a lot of them are still waiting for their chance to even see the field (McClain and Iggy).. Plus with who we are bringing in and I think we are set at WR. Even going into next year I think we only need to take 2 at the most(exception for an elite talent).
If we only get 1 of Anderson/Gouraige then I say load up on the DL. I don't have many worries about Jubinor bulking up, but it would give us tons on depth and we need it with Marlon and Derrick having a chance to go pro next year.

Boom! Quay Walker made it to AU!

How did his trip to uga go last week. Wasn’t that a big hurdle to get him on campus after that
Posted on 1/26/18 at 6:06 pm to attalla
He visited Bama instead. Going to UGA next weekend. UF was the threat to steal this week's visit

Dawg fans melting cuz some UNC contributor on Scout accusing them of paying Fields around 7 figures to sign. Dude isnt backing down either

It’s obvious something fishy is going on there and they know it. UGA fans are saying that KS is bringing the dirty cheating he learned from Saban.

Since I am still hyped over this LSU beatdown gonna catch up on some SECCountry articles
Auburn, Gus Malzahn goes in-home with in-state defensive lineman in hopes of securing late visit (SECCountry)

Auburn joined this recruitment late, and the Tigers are trying to play catchup.
Malik Langham, the 4-star defensive lineman from North Alabama, has been one of the more up-and-comer recruits at the end of this cycle. You name the school, and Langham has probably picked up an offer.
Auburn was the most recent to offer — and will likely be the last given the timing between now and National Signing Day.
Sources close to Langham have said it’ll be tough for the Tigers to get involved in this one because of their tardiness to the defensive lineman’s recruitment. Langham has always had strong interest in Auburn, but the offer came so late he’d already set up his five official visits elsewhere, including to Alabama. That means, if Langham visits Auburn, it will have to be on an unofficial trip.
That isn’t stopping Gus Malzahn & Co. from giving it a go.
Auburn’s coach — along with defensive line coach Rodney Garner and area recruiter Tim Horton — had an in-home visit Wednesday with Langham. Not many details have surfaced from that trip other than Langham, who is always smiling, seemed to enjoy himself in the company of the Auburn coaches.
There has been chatter the Tigers are recruiting Langham as an offensive lineman. In the past, a few sources have told me that’s the position they thought most schools would recruit him to play. However, that tune has changed over the last few months. Langham closed his senior season strong, and at least through recruitment, programs want Langham as a defensive lineman — Auburn included. Hence why Garner was a part of the recruiting trip.
Auburn has an outside chance, while Alabama is the favorite. But if the Crimson Tide have to go a different direction, the Tigers could be a beneficiary.
First, Auburn will have to get Langham to visit.

Louisiana DB still plans to officially visit
With Roger McCreary’s commitment to Auburn on Wednesday night, Auburn added another solid defensive backfield piece in the 2018 class.
The 3-star cornerback from Mobile, Ala., is the sixth defensive back — Christian Tutt, Quindarious Monday, Jamien Sherwood, Josh Marsh and Kolbi Fuqua — in Auburn’s class. McCreary becomes the second cornerback in the class, joining Tutt.
With those numbers, you’d think the Tigers would be done recruiting that position group.
That’s not necessarily the case.
Louisiana defensive back Joe Foucha said Thursday morning he still plans to take his official visit to the Auburn. Foucha was scheduled to take an official visit last weekend when the slate was canceled. He went to Arkansas instead who is now trending. Foucha has always wanted to land in Auburn’s class, so it’ll be interesting to see if the numbers crunch allows that to happen.
For now, it’ll be tough to squeeze Foucha into this class given the remaining need at offensive tackle and most of the “best players available” being at wide receiver or linebacker.
My Foucha dream is still alive

Auburn recruiting question of the day: Any surprise big fish left for Tigers? (SECCountry)
It's probably a foolish thought but I feel like if Chase actually visits we might pull of the stunner. Dude has already randomly committed to Kansas & Florida so might not be that crazy
quote:
There are two words/phrases in this question with interpretive meanings: surprise and big fish.
As I often joke in my articles, if you’re reading SEC Country Auburn’s recruiting coverage on a daily basis, there is no such thing as a surprise.
But I understand the premise. As of right now, it looks like Auburn will coast to the finish line with a few non-5-star prospects, such as 3-star cornerback Roger McCreary, who committed to the Tigers on Wednesday. With that in mind, any “big fish” — which also is open to interpretation — should classify as a nice surprise for Auburn this late in the cycle.
For the purpose of this conversation, I’m going to put a label on “big fish.” That label? A top-100 overall prospect.
There are four recruits who fit that bill who still plan to officially visit Auburn:
4-star linebacker Quay Walker (No. 39 overall)
4-star wide receiver Justyn Ross (No. 44)
4-star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase (No. 81)
4-star offensive tackle Richard Gouraige (No. 89)
I think we can all agree those four would be “big fish,” and truthfully, they’d all classify as “surprises” right now.
Auburn has two weeks to make moves with each.
The least likely of the group to commit to Auburn — the one that would be the biggest surprise, I guess — is Chase. The former Kansas and Florida wide receiver commit looks destined to land in LSU’s 2018 class. But he’s not ruling out Auburn. In fact, he told SEC Country his decision will come down to Auburn and LSU. After missing his official visit last week, Chase has rescheduled for Feb. 3. Auburn will get the last shot to make a move.
Walker and Ross have been the two prospects of the group more closely linked to the Tigers. They’re both expected to officially visit this weekend, although Walker is being pressured by Florida to take a visit there this weekend.
If Auburn can get Walker on campus, anything can happen. He’s so familiar with the Tigers that they can’t be ignored in this recruiting chase despite that being the national perception. As for Ross, Auburn will give its last sales pitch against Alabama and Clemson this weekend. The feeling here is that Auburn is playing from behind (even though Ross has never listed his favorites).
Gouraige, at one point, was the most likely “big fish” to join the class, but it wouldn’t have been classified as a “surprise” at the time. Now it would. Auburn still expects to bring Gouraige on an official visit the last weekend of the cycle. The coaching change on the offensive line from Herb Hand to J.B. Grimes — a great switch, in my opinion — didn’t do the Tigers any favors in this specific recruitment. If Gouraige takes that visit, however, anything can happen.
It's probably a foolish thought but I feel like if Chase actually visits we might pull of the stunner. Dude has already randomly committed to Kansas & Florida so might not be that crazy
