Why Coynis Miller could choose Auburn, Alabama or Florida (SECCountry)

Why Coynis Miller will pick Florida, Alabama or Auburn
Big news hit Tuesday when 4-star defensive tackle Coynis Miller announced his decision to commit to Alabama, Auburn or Florida on Oct. 14. All three programs feels as though they’re in serious contention for the 300-pound defensive tackle from Birmingham, Ala.
The SEC Country team broke down why Miller is likely to pick each of the schools they cover.

Florida reporter Zach Abolverdi: “The Gators have recently had some success on the recruiting trail in Alabama, signing four prospects from the state in the last two recruiting cycles. A pair of those players, sophomore running back Lamical Perine and freshman receiver Kadarius Toney, have huge roles this season. Their presence and production on the team should help Florida’s chances with Miller, who named Florida his No. 1 school in August after visiting the school for the first time. He sees an opportunity for early playing time with coaches who aren’t afraid to play underclassmen. The Gators are still searching for a defensive tackle in the Class of 2018 and Miller may be their best bet at a quality prospect. Pulling him out of that state won’t be easy with Alabama and Auburn both being finalists, but Florida has a legitimate shot. I don’t think the Gators lead by a large margin, but right now Miller says they’re the team to beat.”
Still pissed we didn't take Toney. Dude has been awesome for UF. Yes I love Malik Willis but would have been nice to find a way to get that good of an athlete on campus as well

Alabama reporter Chris Kirschner: “While Coynis says Florida leads, I’ve always thought that he would choose either Alabama or Auburn when he committed. Miller has told SEC Country that Alabama was the school that was recruiting him the hardest. The Tide need several interior defensive linemen in this class, and Miller is near the top of the team’s wish list. Miller visited Tuscaloosa for Alabama’s game against Fresno State and will return this Saturday for the team’s game against Ole Miss. In recruiting, the phrase ‘follow the visits’ is important. He will have gone to two out of three home games now. That’s significant. This weekend will give the coaching staff a big chance to lock in his commitment just two weeks before he announces, and I think the coaching staff can get it done.”

Auburn reporter Benjamin Wolk: “Relationships are everything in recruiting, and at Auburn, Coynis Miller has many. It started with the Tigers being the first Power 5 team to offer back in June 2016 when Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner was recruiting now-Tigers defensive lineman TD Moultry. As other programs have caught on, Garner and Auburn have always been there. Garner is one of the most proven closers on the recruiting trail, and he’s never an easy position coach to turn down — especially for someone like Miller, who has been so close to Garner for two full recruiting cycles. On top of that, Miller’s former high school teammate Moultry ended up at Auburn. Moultry isn’t the type to tell Miller what’s in his own best interests, but the connection won’t hurt. Neither will the fact that Miller’s high school coach, Tim Vakakes — someone Miller respects and trusts dearly — is an Auburn grad. Last but not least, Miller has a long-standing friendship with Auburn running back commit Asa Martin dating back to his time in Decatur, Ala., before moving to Birmingham, and Miller seems to like the Tigers’ chances of landing their top defensive prospect remaining. In the end, Miller’s many connections to Auburn will be too tough to overlook.”
If he visits for Ole Miss in 2 weeks I think we get him, if not then I am gonna say Bama

Justyn Ross and Andres Fox will also be at Bama game... Not really sure whose coming to AU this weekend. Hopefully Fields...

Andres Fox. WTF. What a big effing disappointment.

Would Oladele have more upside than Fox?

That's a tough one. Both have similar frames and both need to develop. I personally am probably a bit higher on Fox than Oladele but admittedly have not seen a ton of film on Oladele. In a perfect world you get both and don't have to worry about it
It's important AU gets one of those 2 though. Looking better for Oladele than Fox right now but we will see. Need to get both on campus soon

So apparently UGA is making a real push for Channing Tindall. We really need to get him on campus again. Also sounds like Dawgs are keeping tabs on Michael Harris though not sure how hard they are pushing
Bottom line is we really need to beat those dudes this year

Hopefully Fields...
If we miss on JF I'm good with getting Gatewood and Nix. I saw that first game with JG an he looked AWESOME!

Yes. If he shows up it means he's at least still listening to us. I think it's pretty clear that UGA is in the driver's seat and it's going to take a lot for that to change but anytime you get a kid on campus you got a shot. Best case is he shows up and AU beats the brakes off State with Stidham throwing for 300+ yds and some TDs. But we can't have nice things....

Gatewood has as high of a ceiling as any QB in this class. We are starting to really see that potential this season now that he's gotten more work as a QB and got actual QB coaching over the summer. STill has a ways to go but he's got a bright future
I also am really high on Nix as well. With Stidham probably coming back at this point, adding Gatewood next year and Nix in 2019 really sets things up nicely at QB
But UGA getting Fields would really suck. Would help them load up in this class and in next year's but also I think Fields wins a title before he leaves wherever he goes...

Offered Matthew Hill last night as well.

Fromm can't leave after his sophomore year. He is a true freshman and can't go out until his high school class is three clear of graduation. Which even further strengthens your argument. Why would ANY QB want to play for Jim Chaney and stand it that line and wait.

Fromm is true freshman. Will be there at least 2 more years. They are selling him on idea that they will packages specifically for him no matter the starter and then he will take over after that
Also Smart is doing a much better job of selling these GA kids on staying home and repping the state than Richt could. In all honesty this year has that 2008 Bama feel to it for the Dawgs. Really hoping things derail soon because they are picking up some big time momentum on trail

The reason he hasn't already commmitted is Fromm. The more Fromm plays and wins the more entrenched he's going to be. Fields doesn't want to go sit for 2-3 years being a situational player. Hopefully his head wins out over where his heart is right now.

Same could be said about us. JS has two more years.

I don't even know that Fromm has the measurables to be a high NFL pick no matter how good he is in college. I see him being there 4 years just like Murray.

Yea it's only a matter of time before they took advantage of the God awful east. It's going to make them look a lot better than they really are but perception matters of course.

How freaking lucky can you get to be able to sell MSU as a "big game" when in reality they are nothing special as football team.
Frick it, like you said earlier not much we can do about it at this point besides beat them on the field. I doubt anyone else on their regular season schedule has much of a chance.

I agree we could probably reasonably sell Stidham being gone a year earlier than Fromm plus Stidham is going to have to win a big game or two to become irreplaceable.
Homer glasses off FSU is by far the most logical fit for Fields off all his finalists at this point.

That's how I have always felt as well. The Francois injury might change things some but it's clear that playing for Jimbo increases your value in the NFL draft even if it's maybe undeserved
