Forgot that was the weird year with UGA UF tied. Good catch

My point was just that the talent those programs had could make arguably bad coaches and even a drug addict have decent seasons

If Kirby Smart is just solid to above average, he should do pretty well

That shite doesn't work in the SEC (see: Auburn/LSU)

LSU is a weird team to rope in. LSU was a cancelled game away from a third 10 win season in 4 years. By Auburn Standards that would be the best 4 year stretch since Pat Dye

Tennessee under Butch Jones is a fun discussion

LSU just out talents their way to 10 wins. Les gets killed when he has to match strategy against a thinking type coach.

Very true, however, the perspective of 10 wins nowadays as opposed to back in the 90s and early 2000s seems a little watered down. I guess from a championship perspective, LSU hasn't been very relevant in the past 5 years or so. At least not moreso than Auburn.

Either way, LSU underachieves just like Auburn seems to.....and Tennessee recently.

Tennessee hasn't underachieved yet. Last year they needed a few pieces and I believe they finally got them. This year they will truly underachieve if they don't make it the SEC championship game.

They were missing more than a few pieces to be championship caliber

RB- While Jalen Hurd was #29 in total yards, he was #155 in Yards/Carry of Qualified Rushers

WR- Their two returning WRs haven't done anything impressive

OL- Solid but no elite draft worthy players at this point in time

Hell we could/should also roll Texas A&M in there. Recruit very well but either run them off and/or underachieved pretty massively.

Tennessee has only recruited very well for two years now. That's it. Did you forget the shite storm that Butch Jones inherited? You're a dumbass if you think one good recruiting class(2015) was enough to consider Tennessee as underachievers for the 2016 season. In 2014, they had the fortieth ranked class.

Wtf are you talking about? Other than Butch's shortened class Tennessee has good recruiting classes.

2009-2015 Tennessee has recruited the following

Top 5: 2
Top 10: 2
Top 20: 2
Top 25: 1

Jones was top 5 recruiting 14 and 15 and inherited multiple top 15 classes

Arguably his best players come from his shortened class with Dobbs, ReevesMaybim and Cam Sutton

Given the state of the East, he definitely inherited enough to win at a better clip than his current win%. The underachieving though isn't necessarily about talent, but about how Butch consistently makes decisions that cost his teams games

2014 vs Mizzou:
2nd down around the goal line and needing all 3 remaining TOs, Butch burns a TO making an onside kick required to have a chance of winning.

2014 vs Florida
2nd down 3 yards to go with the lead around midfield and multiple runs in a row of 4+ yards. Butch okays a passing play that results in a 6 yard sack. Just stupid when you consider UF had a sack/INT/fumble on ~25% of Worley's dropbacks that game (6 sacks, 2INT and a fumble)

2015 vs Florida I don't even know how to explain this train wreck
