KN gave his Kellen Mond update. It seems to come down to this: is he willing to go to college out of state. If he is then he will go to AU. If all the Aggie buddies around them convince him that you don't want your parents traveling so far or if you want to live in Texas you need to go to school in Texas then he goes to A&M. It honestly sounds like they are sold on AU and that the Aggies seem to have a few more questions to answer but that they are thumping location, location. I am hoping that because he is already at IMG Academy the whole rah, rah Texas thing doesn't play.
Kinda cool nugget in that update was that Gus, Lashlee & Burns spent Friday night in the Hotel restaurant just chatting with Mond's dad. Apparently Gus left at 10 but Lashlee & Burns stayed pretty late into the night talking with him. I think there's a solid relationship there let's just hope a week spent back in Texas around all those Aggies doesn't convince them it isn't worth the trips to AU
We should hear something on his decision either way by end of next week

Malcolm Askew insists he’s not going anywhere.
The Auburn commitment is fully expected to sign and play cornerback for the Tigers in 2017, but that doesn’t mean he is completely closing his eyes and ears to other suitors.
“I’ll take some officials just to check out schools I haven’t visited just to compare them to Auburn,” Askew said. “Maybe I might see something different but I’ve talked to the (Auburn) coaching staff; they want me to take those officials, so I’ll take those and see what happens from there.”
Askew, a 4-star athlete out of McAdory (McCalla, Ala.) High, committed to Auburn during his visit on Big Cat Weekend, the first weekend of June and the biggest recruiting date (other than signing day) on Auburn’s calendar. Askew has actively been recruiting others to join him at Auburn, but he will keep his options open in the fall.
His five potential official visits include California, Miami, Oklahoma and TCU. Auburn will also get a visit, he said. Askew’s 7-on-7 team may also be on Florida and Florida State’s campuses this summer, but he’s not taking unofficial visits — other than to Auburn — this summer.
When asked if he could be steered away from Auburn, Askew left his options open but submits he will ultimately be a Tiger.
“On those official visits, if I feel like that’s a place I just fall in love with, those are the schools that have chances,” he said. “I might change those officials, but it will be four schools that will have a chance and that’s it.”
Askew will re-visit Auburn on July 23 for a cookout. He’s focusing on bringing 4-star quarterback Kellen Mond, several receivers, linebacker K.J. Britt and 5-star running back Cam Akers on board.
“We’ll have a picnic and the commits will get over here and (we’ll) try to land some guys and continue to build a class and have a great time,” Askew said.

Camron Johnson got an early look at Auburn and it appears the Tigers have taken a big jump on the receiver’s list.
The four-star receiver out of Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy visited Auburn on Saturday. The class of 2018 prospect has piled up six offers and more are sure to come as he approaches his junior season.
“They’re definitely a school I’m considering high up there,” Johnson said. “Today definitely helped it a lot to see (Auburn).”
Johnson holds offers from Auburn, Illinois, Louisville, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. It appears Clemson could offer soon based on his hopes to possibly visit the Tigers of the ACC this summer.
Auburn offered Johnson in January.
“They definitely have the best dorms I’ve seen,” Johnson said. “The facilities are top notch, of course, and everything being so close together was definitely nice to see.”
Johnson will visit Auburn again for a game in the fall, possibly for the season opener against Clemson. He connected with receivers coach Kodi Burns during his visit to the Plains.
“He definitely related to me a lot,” Johnson said. “He knew what it was like to be a multi-sport athlete, he played at Auburn, so to get some of his insight and some of his advice when it comes to the recruiting process and get to hang out with him was definitely an important experience.”
Johnson said he will likely wait to commit to a school in the summer of 2017.

Also Marcello going through AU's recruiting classes starting from 2012 and reviewing how they hold up. HIs first one is the 2012 class, spoiler alert doesn't hold up very well

2012 recruiting class
Rankings: 11th nationally; 4th SEC
Portfolio: Eight of the 18 players were either booted from Auburn or left the program. That’s a staggering number and one which may help explain the depth issues in 2015 and 2016. The true stars of the class proved to be Louis, McKinzy, Jones, Kozan, Holsey and Young — each with varying degrees of success without a breakout star.
Overall stock: Down

that class overall was bad. I remember that NSD being a shitfest until we salvaged COMPLETE embarassment by landing Avery Young. Other than that it didn't seem like that great of a class.

Definitely seems to be the case. I feel like AU usually has no luck in these situations. Hopefully this time will be different.

2012 sucked. I probably have PTSD from that recruiting class as a matter of fact. So I have prepared for the signing day melts ever since.
So whenever dumbasses do like Wareaglekk and freak out an hour before Nate Craig was supposed to sign, I am already lubed up and resistant to pain.

I hate to use you as an example but the shoe fits and it's the most recent case of people needlessly hyperventilating over nothing.

No duh, I've been dying this for a while. It is as if we were on probation. It is the same we had no depth a DE the last few years.

Welp KN saying that Aggie insiders are starting feel really good that he ends up at A&M. Wondering if that hometown pressure is just too much for us right now. I will say that Aggie insiders in the past seem as reliable as AU insiders which means who knows what he's actually thinking

Whose our backup plan?
4* ATH Tray Bishop
3* QB N'Kosi Perry (Miami Commit)
3* QB Kadarius Toney (Florida Commit)
3* QB Malik Cunningham (Louisville Commit)
My guess is we tell Bishop he will stick at QB instead of the "start at QB, see how it goes" pitch and then hope that Joey Gatewood is everything advertised
