Was that really Cecil? Isn't it in Auburn's best interests to keep Cecil away from Auburn football as far as possible?

Speaking of Blaise Taylor I just recently remembered he was the CB that got molested by Kyle Davis on that badass one-handed catch and it made me happy
Also didn't we end up offering Echols-Luper real late, close to signing day, but he stuck with TCU anyway for playing time reasons?

I thought he went to TCU because of the track program. I may be thinking of somebody else though.

Sure as hell looks just like him. If it ain't then Cecil has a secret twin and God would have to be cruel to put two guys that ugly that close on the planet.

I would think so, but if it was really a problem then I'm sure the compliance department would say no. Or at least not allow photographic evidence to get out

I guess I dont get the point. If Cams brother is not talented enough to play a position for us, why would we give him a scholarship? No matter who his brother is.
Does the kid have D1 talent?
And if playing for Auburn was the be-all-end-all for Cam's brother and we weren't offering a scholly, I'm sure it wouldn't be beyond Cam's means to cut a check for tuition and living expenses for Lil Bro.

Pretty sure I remember the NCAA coming out and 100% clearing Auburn in that, even to the point of releasing a public letter on the matter.
So, no, there's no damn reason in the world why Cecil Newton shouldn't be welcome at Auburn University, arse.
P.S. Its stupidity like your statement above that has people continuing to wonder about your loyalties between Auburn and your ALMA MATER.

Jordan Moore did. But Echols-Luper also ran track at TCU so maybe that was apart of his decision too.

They may have cleared Auburn but did they clear Cecil from the reports of shopping his son around?

I'm not an insider and I don't know the details. It was just merely an inquiry. Nobody should ever question my loyalty. You consider me a troll but I am not diligent enough to hide my loyalties for over 4,000 posts. If that was the case, I would end up being bored really quick.

That's a name haven't heard in forever. Was pissed we missed on him but don't think he did much at TCU

Do you remember Miss State or UF doing any NCAA time over Cam Newton?
No?
Do I have to connect every dot for you?

Not in football. They actually ended up switching him to offense. But he was a Big 12 champion hurdler and transferred to LSU where he was an All-SEC track star

From my memory, there was a loophole being exploited which cleared Auburn but not Cecil.
You sure are hyper-sensitive on this subject.

Pro-tip: The NCAA can only take action against its member institutions or athletes participating as a part of one of their member institutions, not private citizens.
If no actions were taken against its member institutions or athletes participating as a part of one of their member institutions?...
Lets see if you are smart enough to take my leading statement to its proper conclusion.
P.S. Stupidity makes me hyper-sensitive.

Pretty sure Cecil got busted. We were able to use the defense of "Neither Auburn nor Cam knew anything about it"
Or at least that's my understanding of it

None of that has to do with saying it's probably not a good idea having Cecil around the program

This has been my understanding for about six years now. Would love to know if I'm wrong or if the old fart is just making an arse out of himself.

I'm pretty sure if it was any problem at all that our hyper-sensitive NCAA associate AD would have never allowed it.
So considering the fact that Cecil Newton is around the program and there are pictures to prove it, what does that tell you?
I can lead your arse to the water, but its up to you to drink it.
Feel free, however, to get as dehydrated as you like with your buddy jangalang.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Auburn kept quarterback Cam Newton eligible by successfully arguing to the NCAA that a former Mississippi State player did not act as an agent during his recruitment by that school.
Auburn released documents related to the NCAA's investigation into the recruiting allegations surrounding Newton, the Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 NFL draft pick, on Friday in response to an open records request by The Associated Press.
The documents indicate Newton's father, Cecil Newton, and ex-Mississippi State player Kenny Rogers sought from $120,000 to $180,000 for the quarterback to sign with the Bulldogs out of junior college but didn't ask any other school for money.
The water you are leading us to smells like manure. Don't understand why Cecil is cleared now but he obviously wasn't then...

The NCAA reinstated Newton after a one-day suspension by Auburn last week, ruling that neither the player nor Auburn knew of his father's attempts to get money.
Newton told ESPN on Thursday that he hadn't directly asked his father what transpired between him and Mississippi State, but "at the end of the day I can look him in the eye and know he has my best interests at heart." Newton said it wasn't for him to say if his father had done anything wrong, but he knows his father is there for him. "My love for him is unconditional," Cam Newton said. "This type of situation can split a family but it makes us stronger."
The NCAA and state officials continue to investigate the payment scheme, trying to determine who knew what and if laws were broken. Two lawyers from the Mississippi secretary of state's office met with Kenny Rogers -- the former Mississippi State player involved with Cecil Newton in the pay-for-play plan -- and his attorney for more than four hours on Thursday afternoon in Waukegan, Ill.
Beatbammer, tell me how Cecil was innocent or how it's a good idea that' this guy is hanging around our recruits. And get mouth frothing mad about it too.
And lastly, please explain why he is with shenker, not Markavious Bryant.

Guys, I am fine with some light convo between recruiting topics, but you guys are getting in the weeds. Please start an OT topic for these topics.
