We needed this badly.

He'll start day 1 with Tre Williams leaving the other spot open for competition between D. Williams Jeff Holland and others.

So Kevin Steele and Travis Williams deserve at least partial credit for this, right?

There are going to be a lot of people rooting for Robert Leff to get the position. That is significant

Gus knows he's coaching for his job, I can't imagine he's going to put a tackle out there that can't block just to make someone happy. Could be wrong though, who knows what goes on in our AD.

IF it has an effect, I don't think it will be a direct effect like that. A ton of people won't by shy of reminding Gus/staff about Leff's positives and downplaying the negative.

It is common for the hardworking Senior who is a good kid to win out over the more talented but unknown underclassman. How do you think Jake Holland started in 2012/2013?

Are we recruiting him at QB, or are we recruiting him at "QB" much like we did with Jason Smith?

Oh, and mawning.

sort of OT post, but to the pseudo scouts who like to watch recruit film, who is the 1 recruit you vehemently liked and just KNEW was going to be a 5* caliber player despite not being ranked as such? And I'm talking all time.

Mine was Tre Mason. Back when I REALLY used to be into watching the videos and breaking them down (the good ole days on TheRinger) I absolutely, 100% knew that Mason was going to put up numbers similar to Dexter McCluster. The one thing I underestimated was how much muscle Mason was able to pack on. I thought he'd end up with a McCluster type of size but he bulked up big time. But that was my best "hit" I'd say.

I am smart enough to know I don't know anything about evaluating talent. The only film I watch is of DL/LB/S as they crush scrawny 15YO dreams and players who juke white kids out of their jocks

I distinctly remember watching Coates' film and thinking "If this guy is a 3*, someone needs to pass the good stuff my way"

I remember thinking that Mark Ingram was going to do really well at Alabama.

Kind of off subject, but as a Chiefs fan, I was pissed when they drafted Glenn Dorsey. I was sure he was going to be a bust in the NFL.
