I was quoted as saying that he is the most talented Auburn wide receiver we have had in a while.

So you saw that ridiculous one handed TD fade reception on his HS highlight film too?

@ArmyAllAmerican and Auburn WR signee @Young_Slay2 ran 10.54 100 meters on Saturday at AA Sectionals. This is not even fair at his size.

Bad wording on my part. Sammie was injured his freshman year, redshirted, didn't do much his freshman year, then exploded his redshirt sophomore year (junior in my eyes).

Tony Stevens- If he developed like coaches claim
FWIW I have not seen this. They have said he has a lot of potential but also still harp on his inconsistency. I'm leaning to TS ended up on the Deangelo Benton side of a disappointing AU career at this point.

Im glad you're around Ellitor, because I cant keep up with all this nonsense. I really start to care when they sign the LOI.

There has been discussion that he started to turn a corner this year I believe. Not that he is "there" but he isn't what he was before

Stevens has huge potential and while he may have been "third," that is because both Duke/Coates should be and should have been RD1 guys.

He's right. Back when I was way more into trying to watch every video of these guys available, Stevens was my #3 WR in the country in his class and a 5*. He had an AJ Green Jr. look to him out of HS. He plucked the ball on jump balls and used his body exceptionally well for a HS kid. BUT, he hasn't gotten any better it appears (at least he hasn't SHOWN that yet anywhere other than practice).

Again, the thing we've really been missing is consistency from our WR2/3. Coates and Louis were inconsistent, Bray just okay, then our other slot guys were underclassmen and just average.

That is one comment I'll have to disagree with you on. I think Bray was an absolutely fantastic WR that was horribly underutilized, unless Sammie or Duke were out of the game. He did have a few bad drops, but by no means would I consider him to have bad hands. He was an elite "make you miss" guy and I really hate that we didn't use him more. Think he ends up a guy that sticks on an NFL roster.

Yep. Would have been an absolute nightmare to defend in an Oregon type O where they use their WRs much better in space than we do.

Broussard was back on campus this weekend. He has set the time for his announcement Thursday at 10:00 am at his school.

Slayton is a freak. A 10.56 200m at his size is sick! If Craig-Myers sticks, and Stove commits BCW, we could have the best group of WR ever at AU.

#1 Juco WR Taj Williams may join that list as well.

You were right about one thing and will never let it go or any of us forget.

Yeah, not to take anything away from you TT but you weren't close to the only one saying that and it wasn't exactly a reach.

It's no secret that until recently AU has had a crappy history with WRs and anybody paying attention knew Sammie was a freak athlete.
He was a 3* because he was raw at the position

-He came from tiny 2A Leroy HS where his toughest competition was a white 5'7" 150 pound DT from Plainview HS
-He played baseball year round. Most top football prospects play football year round going to camps and playing 7 on 7. Because of this he was way behind in coaching and scouting exposure and that's what it takes to be highly ranked out of a small school
-Same as now his main concern out of HS was his hands.

All this saying that despite his 3* ranking nobody thought he was some scrub. He was still a highly regarded prospect and expected to be a very good WR after he had some time to be coached up, which is exactly how his career played out.

John Broussard intel per Keith Niebuhr:

Mississippi State is legit threat
LSU apparently isn't a factor and hasn't pushed
Has been to Auburn 5 times this spring
Went to Mississippi State for their Spring Game
Keith Niebuhr still predicting him to Auburn
