The only time this thread isn't a clusterfrick is in January right before NSD when we think we have a shot, and in the summer when we think we are going to get the best class ever.

We've had some nice February's before. Really depends on NSD.

My favorite times on here are when we are full meltdown mode though. It's pretty hilarious.

That was when we missed on literally everybody except Avery Young who we didn't really expect to get.

It was awful and glorious at the same time.

NSD usually is rough around here. Don't forget NSD 2011 was both TV commits CyKo not sending in his NLI and Brent Calloway going with peaches to the beach

We went from disappointed about BC to ecstatic about CyKo to confused/depressed. We also lost Marcus Roberson

From top of my head

Ronald Darby
Eddie Goldman
Leonard Williams
Kwon Alexander
Stephon Diggs
Jordan Moore (the night before)

We missed on other big guys we had "real shots" at

5* Arik Armstead (Oregon)
4* Graham Schuler (Legacy- Stanford)
4* Francis Kallon (GTech)
4* Menelik Watson (FSU)

Guys we had debatable shot at
4* Deon Bush (Miami - no flip)
5* Jameis Winston (homers claim we were #2 )

Completely forgot all about him. That was an odd recruitment for sure

Good friend from AU went to same HS as Williams. Said everyone from the area knew he was a lock to Auburn. I don't care how awesome SoCal is, we screwed up his recruitment to let them snake in and steal him.

I met him at 1716 when he tried talking to my girlfriend and her friends. Zeke Pike drunkenly walks up and tries to wingman him by telling her "He's my new offensive tackle. Best in the entire country." Armstead told every team he was a defense only player

ETA: Armstead's brother was legit. Talked with him and he is a chill dude.

being the playcalling genius he was thought to be instead of leaving it to Lashlee.

Lashlee was calling plays in the uga game, then Gus took over about midway thru the first half.

Fwiw I have a nephew who is an Assistant Coach (WR's) at a D1 school in the Mountain West Conference currently (working his way up through the ranks). Without going into deep detail he told me one time that There is a lot more depth and layers to being a HC than most fans can realize. He didn't say this in a condescending way at all and there was a lot more to our conversation.

Yep. Especially at Auburn. To say there are a lot of hands in the cookie jar is an understatement

There are quite a few that are none too shy to instruct our HC how to do things.

A little late for that. We have discussed everything but recruiting.
