think your problem is similar to mine. I need real data to believe something, not feelz like most people on here.

Data? Has Malzahn nothing for us to go on? Is this the first recruiting season we have seen recruits commit to other schools? Has Auburn finished out of the top 10 since Gus has been HC? Is Auburn not in a position to do something big this season, again? Is the recruiting season over? Randy said he deals in reality and the reality is we have talent to win games at Auburn and compete for the SEC. Randy complains repeatedly like a bitch as if none of the previous years count for anything.

You had data to go by to gauge your opinion and if in fact you did question Ellis early on you got it right, and a lot of us did not. There is a bit of difference here in the two situations. No doubt it is disappointing to see players "WE" really like and feel would be a good fit go elsewhere. No doubt we get our arse kicked in some of these head to head recruiting battles. It has been said on here plenty of times and it is more of reality that many choose to ignore due to our success. Here it is.

We are not a flagship school like UGA, Bama, LSU, Florida, and yes even TN. You know how I know this? 2 SEC championships, 2 NC appearances with 1 BCS trophy in 5 years, and we are losing coveted players to our rivals. Knowing that, I believe our coaching staff is doing pretty damn good overall, and that is the reality of Auburn recruiting.

With that said it is a message board and the reality is we can't stop people from their opinions whether we agree or disagree, and no matter how inaccurate or how accurate it may be. I wouldn't have said anything if he didn't use the weak line " I deal in reality". In this instance that was bullshite so I responded. I don't dislike Randy nor do I totally dismiss everything he shares. In fact he offers solid opinions and info, but sometimes his message gets lost in all that whining.

We are not a flagship school

This is what people don't get. We haven't had consecutive 10 win seasons in decades, We haven't had consecutive SEC championship appearances, we have fired two coaches in les than 7 years, we have uncertainty with DStaff staying at AU if we do well.

So to add the fact that we don't have built in recruiting advantages like being the "state school" for recruits, we shouldn't expect to be top 3 in recruiting

I'm not taking up for anyone, but the reason I left the sunshine pumping AU Family site is because people could express their opinion (good or bad) on here. Let him say his concerns, up or down vote (or do nothing), and move on.

It is just that Randy/Meta etc keep beating a dead horse complaining about the beat writers making excuses for the coaches. Of course they are bias/make excuses. These writers are completely dependent on the coaches/AD/staff for info and their jobs. You think Keith or JLee are going to put out a hit piece on Rodney Garner and how he strikes out on every major prospect past two years?

We get it, a lot of times we straight up missed. Some of those times it was because we screwed the pooch. That just is what Auburn has always done though so we don't need to bring it up everytime some kid we lead for doesn't like us anymore

***ETA Only one beat writer is bold and brave enough to straight talk the masses and he exclusively post here #KeefDaTruthTeller

This board is nothing like AUF. It may look like it at times, but not close. Randy doesn't get banned for his views, and I like that.

Question? So let him express himself, which I am in full agreement with, but others can't express themselves or address his opinion because it may appear like sunshine pumping?

Nice

What I mean by that is I don't write off every recruit we lose to the fact they didn't fit our scheme, or we had someone higher on the board, or they all the sudden developed a character issue etc...

In this case it also applies to the fact that our recruiting class is a massive letdown right now compared to where we all thought it was going to be in 2016.

Like I said, there is still time and hopefully a big season will help things but if you aren't concerned about our recruiting right now I stand by my statement your head is deep in the SAND.

This we all agree on I believe.

You ought to try the sand, getting a little in your ear is a nuisance, but not bad.

All the concern you or anyone else can muster will not change a damn thing in Auburn recruiting. So stay on the concern train bruh and enjoy the ride. BooooHooo Choo Choo!!!

Like I said earlier, Melt On Randy.

I've always viewed it as some kids we aren't as fully invested in as others.

For example, I'm sure we would have taken Preston Williams the WR last year if he wanted to commit even with his personality issues/academic risks. When he shows up wearing UTk stuff and doing bad things, our staff was fine cutting ties. Doesn't mean we wouldn't have taken him, just that we had no problems moving on and avoiding a headache too

Same idea can be applied to scheme fit stuff too. Imagine Jake Bentley ends up being a 5* pro style QB avg mobility and we had a Nick Marshall clone coming through the cycle too. If we struck out on Bentley somehow but got Marshall 2.0, we may have missed talent wise but it becomes a wash scheme wise.

I imagine we would always prefer the talented guy etc, but if we get a guy who fits our scheme as a 2nd option it probably is close to a wash if they aren't a scrub

Can we go ahead and get our 3* JUCO DT's to commit yet? I'm getting tired of this trying to still recruit HS DT crap.

If we recruit so terribly, why is it so much fun to lurk the competition's boards on NSD?

Every team misses on some guys.
