Does he really? Or is that just what they want us to believe?

We'll find out how good Garner is when these 3* Dts we're signing hit the field

Sorry, I'm new to the cynical/Nega world. Just throwing stuff out there until I get a better feel for it.

Something interesting: New former OSU signee says he will be attending AU. He is a CB who the OSU staff would not clear for practice due to a knee injury. He never practiced and if he is given a full release by OSU he will have 4 years eligibility left.
Former 4-star was recruited by Trob at Florida, certainly can't be a bad thing. Possibly a replacement for Joe Turner? From what I've been reading, I think he is eligible to play this year as long as he is physically ready to go.

After a controversial departure, Ohio State early enrollee Jamel Dean tweets that he'll be playing at Auburn. Though he'll have four years of eligibility after never having played a down at OSU, he'll need a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible immediately due to having enrolled early. The Buckeyes and Dean parted ways after OSU's medical staff refused to clear Dean for participation this winter due to lingering complications from a knee injury. Dean's camp remained adamant his own third party medical evaluations had cleared him for participation.

Per NCAA rules, Dean would have to sit out his first year in Auburn as a transfer, but the Tigers can submit a waiver for him to be eligible right away given the circumstances. From what 247Sports has been told, Dean's knee could likely need the upcoming season to fully heal anyway, so sitting out a year could potentially be in the Florida-native's benefit. Dean played at Cocoa High School in the Orlando area prior to arriving in Columbus. He was a football and track star there, but a torn ACL his junior year and a torn meniscus during his senior season have left his future playing career in question. "He's going to do great," Cocoa assistant Tyrone Giscomb told 247Sports of Dean's new landing spot. "I appreciate all of the coaches at Ohio State looking out for him while he was there."

quote:He has to sit a year. tOSU releasing him means he only has to sit 1 year instead of 2. The only transfers immediately eligible are grad transfers. NCAA recently did away with all other immediate eligible transfers, see Khari Harding w/ Tulsa. Also for those wondering about class #s. If JD is on scholly @ AU before January he counts in the class that just signed. He would have to walk on for 2 years before he does not count to a class & only counts to the 85 when on scholly.

Travaris was his recruiter at Florida. Good pick-up

It is a position of need... Does that change the ranking?

Dont get too excited. tOSU dropped him because it looks like a bomb went off inside his knee.

Nope, wrong, etc. You know the drill

Andrews said he would be fine, he didn't say he would be able to play like a 4* athlete. I'd be shocked to see a full recovery coming off a meniscus transplant. That's not something you bounce back from

There's a theory going around that the actual reason tOSU let him go was because they were & are over the 85 roster limit so Urban used a "medical excuse" to let him go getting them closer to the 85 limit. I would not put that past Urban at all.

That would be great news if that's the case.

quote:from 9th to 8th on the composite. Nothing on Rivals, Scout, & 247. Very possible on ESPN. They had him highest by far @ 128 overall 4* & we were right behind tOSU. There is no way to know though since ESPN does not give out their formula. Looking at the classes in front of AU though my guess would be from 7th to 4th or 5th. None of these sites will likely make the changes though.
Does that change the ranking?
