Torrance Gibson texted Keith Niebuhr that he would be in Auburn in a few hours. Spend the night and watch practice. Went by LSU today.

There's not enough room for Torrence on my double bed. He can sleep on the couch by all means though

Someone show him tape of Cam Newton running our O, then going #1 in the draft.

Meh...as a recruiting junkie, I want him, but not as a quarterback.

He is an exceptional athlete that could play just about anywhere, but I would rather he not play quarterback if he comes to Auburn.

I would love to have him at QB. He'd have some time to develop under Malzahn and improve his mechanics and accuracy, and he'd be a perfect fit for our offense.

He'd also be a great athlete at WR if QB didn't work out, but I definitely would give him time at QB

Nick Marshall struggled in the pass game and he is doing just fine. We can deal with Gibson considering his freak athleticism

Nick was also more accurate coming out of high school to this point at 64%. I don't have a dog in the where do we recruit him discussion. My only opinion is if Gus and Rhett want him at QB then that's good enough for me given their ability to develop QBs.

Maybe not, Keith just made a statement in a post that seemed to hint at it. Which is not something he has ever done that I know of.
Keith's post was not hinting at a silent. It was a logical reply to your hopeful posts thinking JC was a silent.

Not that it matters but how is saying I wish he would go ahead a commit, a lead in to this response?

"Nothing says he can't privately commit somewhere and publicly commit at UA Game."

Which would be the first time I have ever seen Keith answer that way after having just interviewed JC and saying we had a sunstantial lead for them.

E, that is the very definition of hinting. My OP never mentioned a silent anything.

Even if he had told him, Keith would never confirm it. That part was my speculation.

If we were in need of a QB to come in and POSSIBLY push for a starting job in yr 1, or even 2, I'd agree. But Gibson could sit and learn and develop for 2-3 years before he'd seriously be pushing for the starting job. So i DEFINITELY want him at QB. I know he's struggled in camps, but in games the dude is a baller.

agree to disagree. You were being hopeful. You were almost fishing for that reply whether you intended to or not. Keith just factually posted that a player could be a silent and go public much much later. It happens sometimes as you know very well. His reply was a logical one. I would have said the exact same thing if I were him even if I don't know if a player is a current silent or not. You even said you know Keith wasn't saying JC was a silent. Guess you did not mean that.

It was the fact HE said it that gave me pause. I would expect that reply from you. Anyway...

Gibson isn't coming in to sit for 2-3 years. He is never going to be a great passer, either. Weak arm, very poor accuracy, bad mechanics.

Gibson's not coming to Auburn. Tyler's a better QB.

They haven't developed one yet. It more or less remains to be seen what they can actually do with a quarterback over some time. Nick is the new project. They have failed (or not had enough time) up to this point.

so a little tidbit from a buddy of mine (works for the govt up in Huntsville) from yesterday:

Talked to the Major here, and his dad was telling him Gus had some banquet/lunch thing today for the high school coaches from around the AU area, and invited most everybody EXCEPT Auburn High School. He was saying it was set up so the new high school coaches we recruited from Byrnes and Homewood could network with some of the current surrounding HS coaches like Opelika, Carver, some Georgia HS, etc.

So I guess this is for the lack of "help" from Auburn HS in getting Foster and Evans.

He's going to sit no matter where he goes. No one will tell him that, but its the truth. He's a sick athlete and has a decent enough arm. Those things you mentioned as his issues all stem from the bad mechanics, which is what coaching is for.
