Coaching Changes Board is incredible this offseason
From what they're saying on the CCB, LSU's AD made all the assistant coaches sign contract extensions before the OC/DC...so when they do get a new DC, he can't really hire anyone. Just WOW

Also Burt needs to commit to us already. I'm getting impatient in my old age

I have a feeling Gus nixed Payne coming on the 16th. I suppose he didn't want to have anything mess with the mojo happening right now. Wouldn't surprise me anyway.

Also Allie D said John Burt was supposed to be committed by Wednesday.
Not a WTF. Hoke and Keith basically said the same before she did.

Man we really need one of Chidi or Martez.
They would be excellent additions but they are by no means a need. We have 4 quality OLs in this class plus Golson can play this year and 7 other quality OL battling for PT now.

I agree, but none of the guys we have are elite tackle prospects. Kim is a center, Carr and Harrell guards, and Sharp is a raw tackle with some potential but far from what Chidi or Ivey could be. It's not a dire need, but an elite tackle is all that's missing on the offensive side of this class (assuming we get Burt)

If we miss on them I think JB can real in an elite one in 2016. Plus if Coleman stays through his entire playing eligibility or Drago takes over at LT at some point there there is not a need for an elite LT.

A dominant LT is always a need, as was seen this year.

I think we're failing to see the difference in want and need. An Elite Tackle is a want in this class but definitely not a need.

We could make do with signing just Cox and a couple WRs on offense. We need to fill the rest of the class with Defensive players. WRs and a FB are all we need on offense right now.

I suppose it depends on aspirations to where you want your program to go. It makes no sense really to even say so. To say you don't need a player that is probably better than those on roster seems like a crazy position to me.

Eta: My main point is, it's not often AU is right in the thick of things for a franchise 5* LT. Sure you can get by having aa solid player at the position, but if you have a dominant player there, you can dictate the LOS. We saw that left side falter a bunch this year, and while the numbers aren't too far off, we all know we were nowhere close to imposing our will on teams compared to last year. An Ivey/Cox combo would pay mass dividends.

To assume Tez and Chidi are better than Shon or Drago is just as crazy to me. Yes they have the potential to be but don't forget Shon and Drago were both high 4*s and some analysts are already saying they think they underrated Drago.

I'd rather assume they aren't as good and have the option of shuffling positions. Like I said, how often is AU in this position of taking an elite FB/LT combo in the same class. It's a recipe that dominated the SEC, no reason to deviate. There's room for him, so in my mind he's a must have.

I love Gus but part of that had to do with his stubbornness in feeling he had to use a H Back instead of adapting more to his personnel and actually being a spread team ala Oregon by using 4 WR sets a lot to make more natural holes. Plus when our WRs didn't have their heads up their but they were good blockers.
