quote:Probably, unless there is another way to cheat on that test.
the only thing that would make someone ineligible is having someone else take the test for you, right?
quote:Probably not too high since JGT called it anecdital evidence
What is the burden on the investigative body?
quote:No. My understanding is the ACT flagged the score themselves because in their minds it was a lot higher than Danjel's previous ACT scores (1 & or 2 from Gene's post).
Is it safe to assume another school submitted the inquiry?

Rhett Lashlee was on the sideline for a JUCO game that had to be cancelled due to a brawl. Maybe they knocked some sence into him (Just a joke) He wasn't in the fight at least I don't think he was lol

Looks like we had an assistant coach win the 3 point contest last night.

And it wasn't even the rifleman.

Yep the ACT typically flags any test that jumps more than like 4 points from their previous attempt I believe.
And Todd Golden only had to shoot 2 rounds while Lang had to shoot 3 or 4 rounds. Nobody should be surprised Golden won though because he's a sharpshooter still pretty young

From what JGT said, this doesn't appear to be a typical ACT flag. This appears to be an inquiry made by some 3rd party

LINK
Here is a link describing what has happened. The NCAA historically has taken a "hands off" approach to test score validation. They trusted all scores given to them and the internal controls the ACT/SAT has on the process
Now, the NCAA has their own internal mechanism to flag ACT/SAT scores based on academic records for eligibility. If the NCAA has reason to flag a score they submit an inquiry to the ACT/SAT and provide their reasons and evidence. The ACT/SAT then conducts a review and validates or invalidates the score.
Purifoy right now is eligible and cleared by the NCAA. His ACT score though is currently being reviewed by The ACT. If they invalidate his score, the NCAA retroactively revokes his eligibility. If Auburn was 100% confident Purifoy didn't cheat and made it in, he could play and we would have nothing to worry about. No one takes that chance though when it is their jobs

So your saying he can play in the practice games since they don't count.

quote:Golden won it with 21 points. That's a very high score for any 3 point contest at any level of ball.

quote:He can play any game, practice or otherwise because he is eligible by the NCAA. If the ACT throws his score out the he is retroactively ineligible. I would think he can play the 2 exhinition games since they don't count but it is the NCAA so you never know.

The NCAA accepts all scores/decisions by the ACT. So any investigation done about an ACT score is done exclusively by the ACT and not by the NCAA.
Essentially the NCAA, who has the entire academic record, has a process to have red flags and will then ask the ACT to confirm the score. The ACT then has the option to confirm the score or investigate the score.
tl;dr NCAA does not investigate cheating ACT scores but will alert ACT of high risk scores. NCAA has more academic info therefore assumed higher chance of flagging score compared to ACT organization

I never said nor implied it was an NCAA investigation. I was only talking about the ACT people and as it turns out, their investigation into the score in my post. As i tried to point out in that post, the score was red flagged soon after the test was taken which again suggests, but does not necisarily mean, that the ACT flagged it own their own.

ACT only flags if Purifoy has taken the ACT twice (I assume he has). If he took SAT then ACT there is nothing to compare.
both NCAA and ACT would be able to flag it pretty quickly

quote:Not sure why you keep going back to the NCAA. They have been irrelevent though this whole discussion and only become relevent if the ACT denies the new score thus making him NCAA ineligible and makes Danjel take the test again.

Phillip Marshall-3 hours ago
AUBURN - Danjel Purifoy, Cinmeon Bowers and T.J. Dunans led th way Friday as Auburn’s basketball team scrimmaged at Auburn Arena.
Purifoy had 18 pointsand six rebounds. Bowers had 12 points and eight rebounds. Dunans had 12 points.
Auburn coach Bruce Pearl gave the scrimmage mixed reviews.
“We have a long way to go,” Pearl said. “I saw some things that were positive. We went up against some zone today, but we were a little inconsistent. We have had good practices. We have depth in practice.”
Horace Spencer had 6 points and eight rebounds. Tyler Harris,Kareem Canty, Bryce Brown andCole Blackstock each had 5 points.Tahj Shamsid-Deen had 3 points and a scrimmage-high four assists.
“We have a chance to get better,” Pearl said. “We can make each other better. We can help each other get better. That is hard when the roster is shorter than what it is. I’m encouraged by coming out to practices and looking at what we can do. We have a long way to go.”
Auburn plays the first of two exhibition games next Friday against Brevard College. The regular-season opener is set for Nov. 5 against UAB at Auburn Arena.

The ACT doesn't care about college athletics and is independent of the UK kid. A decision will be made when the ACT feels confident the score is valid after investigation
