Also there is a seemingly false (as of now) rumor that C 7'2 Isaac Haas from Purdue may grad transfer. Haas is from Alabama originally

Lot of smoke that he was in Auburn but according to Rivals beat AU isn't aware of any transfer plans for Haas

I think I finally have an answer for why we aren't hearing much in terms of 4's and seem to only be after a wing type and pg. While he didn't just come out and say it I read a post from Stephen Hooks on another board that strongly hints that Purifoy has indeed grown a few inches and is up to around 6'8 230. Here is the post where another poster is asking about his size and his reply.

Here is another thing to smile about. He is the best athlete on the team. That is not my opinion but the opinion of the expert in the program who would know best from having all his athletic test results. He is a freak.

My bad, I read pf as pg for some reason. I haven't kept up with bball recruiting in a while, cuz the final product makes me lose interest. Trying to start back up again

Still feels a little slim in the post with

4- Purifoy + True FR McElmore
5 - Spencer/Reed

I just don't see McElmore giving quality minutes as a true FR. Are we going to run small lineups with Lang/Heron as stretch 4s? No on else seems reasonable there

He graduated from HS in 2014. I'd be super impressed if he got his degree in 2 years.

Also, with Hammons graduating Haas is in line for an increase in playing time.

Maybe it was just normal transfer then Either way, it has been asked and shot down

The rumor doesnt surprise me. During his first two seasons there, Hammons was benched in favor of Haas before Hammons reclaimed the starting job. There were several local stories where Haas talked openly about being frustrated by the situation.

He'll definitely start now, though. I could see him transferring eventually if this season doesn't go well.

I doubt he'd be a good fit for us anyways. He'd be a pretty big liability in the press and slow in transition

He seems good enough to be productive though. I just don't know why he'd come here instead of a half court team

No, he can move pretty well. Very good rebounder and passer. He wouldn't be a liability

This isn't an agility thing. There is no way that I will believe a 7'2 300LB guy can run a full court press and in transition for >15 minutes a game.

Greg Robinson moves extremely well, I wouldn't expect him to do well running a 10k though

Calm down. It's not like we run some crazy press all game. He'd be fine here, it's not like he's coming anyway.

That is actually what Bruce Pearl is known for and trying to run when we have >5 scholarship players LINK

You don't Bruce Pearl much, huh?

This is EXACTLY what we'll be doing next season.

ESPN Ranked the Top 25 Freshmen for 2016-17....look who shows up in the top 15....

quote:

14. Mustapha Heron, Auburn Tigers

If you're looking for a player who didn't make the McDonald's All American game but will put up huge numbers as a freshman, Heron might be your guy. He's a strong left-handed guard who has found ways to get buckets throughout his high school career. Moreover, Heron will be able to concentrate on scoring next season, with freshman Jared Harper entering the program. There weren't too many better pure scorers than Heron in high school last year, as he's capable of bullying his way to the rim and absorbing contact while finishing. He also improved his outside shot in the past couple years, although it's still a bit streaky.

Bruce Pearl used to be synonymous with the full court press. He gives speeches on it all the time

I don't know what the hell Georgia Tech is thinking but they just hired Josh Pastner from Memphis. I fully expect them to in turn make a compelling offer to Pearl so things might get interesting.

In other news we schedule Oklahoma on 12/21 at the Hall of Fame in Springfield MA
