I don't think CGM and the offensive staff liked the fact that he's had major knee surgery in high school.

Too big of a risk to sign in a first year class. If he never fully recovers then it's a blown scholarship that could've been taken by someone that is fully healthy and isn't prone to another knee injury.

That is my biggest hangup with him also despite him "being way ahead of schedule" in his recovery. A kid that has a major leg injury in high school is a high risk to take when you HAVE to hit with the running backs in this class. Losing Dyer and Robinson really hurt now because the kid we would be signing this year would get an opportunity to more than likely redshirt and learn the blocking schemes.

We offered Ole Miss RB commit Peyton Barber

Teammate of Carl Lawson.

Haven't seen any film of him but he has the Payton mold size. 5'10-5'11 in the 210-215 range. When Cadillac went pro, that was the mold that a lot of NFL teams wanted and that type of thing shouldn't change. No matter what, we need depth at running back and if it helps lock down Lawson I am for it.

Barber's highlight film is pretty solid. Doesn't have elite top end speed but seems like he has pretty darn good cutback ability and balance through the hole

Auburn commit Carl Lawson called a "beast" today at #UAGame practice by Rivals' analyst Kynon Codrington. Great first step, dominated competition.

Some free info.....Hope Adams is OK.

Some running comments from 247Sports' recruiting analysts that attended the all-star practices today. In chronological order from top to bottom for each analyst.

Gerry Hamilton -- Under Armour

Carl Lawson showing his elite first step. Quick and ripping

On Montravius Adams - some early thoughts the ankle injury could be more than a sprain. EARLY reports

South Carolina commit Kelsey Griffin having a hell of a day - when I've been watching him. Carl Lawson also terrific today.
Looks like the trainers are about to take Montravius Adams away on a golf cart

BTW, Tony Conner said he is planning to announce during the Under Armour game.

***

Keith Niebuhr -- Under Armour

All the fat has left Reuben Foster's body. He looks great

Montravius Adams is on the training table. Left foot is wrapped

Wow, Dee Liner showing some serious quickness

Carl Lawson getting past Michigan commit Logan Tuley-Tillman

Dee Liner on the training table ... Shoulder issue, but I'm told it's not a big deal

Carl Lawson is practicing with a bad headache. With the trainer's approval, I gave him two Aleves

***

Steve Wiltfong -- U.S. Army

Auburn QB commit Jeremy Johnson standing out among his position. Great delivery, accurate. 6-6, 220.

***

JC Shurburtt -- Semper Fi

McGlinchey just got the best of Tashawn Bower big time. He's stronger than he looks.

Tashawn Bower hasn't looked like his ranking today. We have him too high.

Bower with a good pass break up. Got good penetration.

WANT LAWSON BAD.

About as much as any recruit in several years. Said it before and will say it again, he is the most important recruit we are after this year.

He could start next year with Lemonier leaving.

He also said himself Chris Jones was better than him and maybe the best DE there.

JAMES CLARK

Kid has wheels and swag. He looks good. Runs as if no one can catch him. Looks as if he's right in some of the highlights.

I think he sticks with us.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if all the Bama stuff was just to keep the Updyke pressure off of him until he signs.
