Memphis would have to pay $10m just to fire Pastner, then they would have to pay $4m to Auburn just to hire him on top of the large salary he would likely desire.

Memphis is strapped for cash right now. No way they can pay all of that.

Rumor going around is that Penny Hardaway would be the guy

That was my first thought but then again it'd be extremely easy for him to catch Memphis back up to their previous success

I don't think Memphis hires Bruce but he could have them back in the sweet 16 next year pretty easily. While Memphis will lose 3 starting SRs, they have the Lawson brothers and a few other extremely talented FR/SO.

Pastner is just that bad of a coach. Didn't help that he lost his best player out of left field when Nichols transferred

Pearl is pretty darn close to tournament time with Auburn as well. Once Wiley and Mitchell arrive at Auburn, I'm expecting big things. I've heard some say that Mitchell could be the best point guard in the class.

There is a differeence between sweet16 and tournament appearance. Memphis has the talent on the roster to get them there already. At Auburn, you wait 1-2 years.

Bruce has a surefire thing at AU. We love him, he's paid well and are conditioned to handle sucking. I wouldn't leave when the foundation he is laying is just finishing up

I would if I were him, but I don't see Memphis being able to afford the buyouts and his contract.

I wouldn't. If Bruce averages ~20 wins per year over the next 9 years, he will be Auburn's winningest coach of all time. We will love him for it. We will cherish him for it. We will pay him for it.

This team is so bad. If someone isn't playing out of their mind we don't even make it competitive.

Our best 4 players don't get injured/suspended/ineligible

Actually having some players that are worth a crap. It won't all be fixed next year but barring a perfect storm like this year it should be significantly better.

I'd say some form of magic happened this year to make all our players get hurt/ineligible.

Let's see, Purifoy will be better than Bowers. Might be a stretch to expect Heron to be better than Canty as a freshman, but at least he isn't a moron. Harris will be gone replaced by ? Looks like another losing rebuilding year unless Purifoy is 1st team ALL-SEC and Heron is freshman player of the year. I'm impatient.
