Watching the highlights and I still can't get over how good Kareem is for us.

As I pointed out for the Kentucky game, I also avoided watching this game.

I avoid the radio with Bramblett for the same reasons. LINK Here's the radio clips of the game.

We should get some news on Purifoy soon according to MM. He also said if we win 1 game in the conference tourney that Dunans would be eligible for a redshirt this season assuming he can't return.

I don't believe he is correct based on strict NCAA interpretation.

Medical RS for basketball is participation in 30% or less of your teams regular season games. Dunans has participated in 10 games this year. We would need to play 34 games for 30%>= Games played / total season
If they don't include the Harvard game since that's when it occurred, he already is at 30% and we are solid.

As of right now, Auburn has a 30 game schedule. That would require postseason play unless they don't include Harvard game

It's not just regular season games. You can base it on schedule games or completed games. Also, the NCAA rounds up. So 30% of 31 games is 9.3 or 10 according to the ncaa.

I don't think we even need to win one in the conference tournament.

I meant non exhibition by regular season. My bad for phrasing

That is what is weird about the 1 game thing. If NCAA rounds up, Dunans already is there. If NCAA doesn't count Harvard game since he got injured during it, he already is at 30% regardless of rounding.

They do. It's specifically stated in the by laws.

99.9% sure it counts.

Here is the interesting part. Since 1 conference tournament game is guaranteed, I think AU could successfully argue they had 31 games scheduled and base it on that.

Only reason they would ever need to make that argument is if one of our remaining games gets cancelled for some reason.

So we got Dunans for 2 more years to!

That is awesome considering the only other SG we have going forward is Bryce Brown. I imagine we have Heron playing a lot of SF or Stretch4

Having Dunans off the bench in 17/18 (knowing how to run Pearl's system like the back of his hand) with Spencer, Purifoy, Heron, and Wiley in the starting lineup? Yes, please.

1) With Pearls pressing system the minutes won't be much different between starters/key rotation pieces

2) I imagine Dunans starts 17/18. Seniority and his skills are missing from our best talent lineup.

Based on current roster and commits, that 17/18 team is fun to think about.

I just finished rewatching the game from last night and I have to give Bowers some props. He has been a different player since the start of the 2nd half vs Vandy. He still has an occasional derp moment but his energy has been huge and I love the way he is taking the ball to the rim now. He has gotten a few blocked but I like that a lot more than him just throwing up the junk he was before.

It appears he is accepting coaching better. Using his energy to his advantage while making better decisions when to push the ball, when to pass, when to shoot and when to go to the goal.

If we get the bowers of the last few games the rest of the season and then brown and lang figure out their roles things could get interesting.

Spencer also has to be content with just affecting and changing shots and avoid fouling by trying to block every shot.

If all that happens, we can compete even short handed.

Can't see that. Heron at 2, Purifoy at SF, Spencer at PF as a junior, Wiley at C. The rotations will be all over the place. Wiley will be a PF much of the time, but I can't see Purifoy coming off the bench for Dunans. Purifoy will play a lot of PF. Heron will play a lot of SF. He's going to have way more talent and depth after next year than he ever had at UT I think. Time will be hard to come by, and figuring out rotations will be a headache. Nice problem to have, but Dunans will get his minutes. It'll be fun to watch. Depth for days minus any injuries.
