Hawks mega-trade

I have been very busy this week, so I haven't been keeping up with the trade rumors and information. I know we got Capela and Nene in the deal, but was the first round pick we gave up our only selection, was it a second 1st round pick we had, or is it lottery protected?
I already didn't know what the Hawks had, in terms of the 2020 Draft, but now I really don't know what we have

The trade is as excellent as you think it is.
- Hawks traded: Evan Turner, and the lottery-protected 1st round pick they acquired from Brooklyn in the Taurean Prince trade
- Hawks received: Clint Capela & Nene (who will be waived once it goes through)
Hawks were able to grab a top, big-time Center with 3 years left on a reasonable deal to help out in the middle. The move should fully unlock John Collins, who can play a true 4 in a big line-up.
The big key here is this: If the Hawks can somehow get the #1 pick, the Hawks have enough ammo to get Karl Anthony-Towns from Minnesota. We'd be able to offer them: #1 pick and John Collins for his services.
That gives you a starting lineup of:
1: Young
2: Huerter/Reddish
3: Hunter/Reddish
4: Karl Anthony-Towns
5: Clint Capella
All of this, with enough room for 2 more max slot players.
Things can get very interesting for Atlanta this off-season.

That's what I like to hear!
Thank you for breaking it down. The Hawks are really starting to excite me again.

One of the worst records in the NBA, but folks around the league and in Atlanta itself see what's going on.
Been to a couple of games this year, and State Farm arena is always packed out. Just checked out ESPN and they're at 94.5% capacity on the season. A lot of that I'm sure has to do with the sweet, sweet renovations those guys did. But, the excitement is there and Trae always does something during the game that makes the price of admission worth it.
I was around during those lean years from 2000-2007 and you could sit 3 rows from the floor for like 20 bucks. No one went to those games. The excitement is there - really, really hope it translates.
If the right moves are made this season, I think 2020-21 will be the "boom" year that the Braves had in 2018 when the mix of young talent and vets turned in a surprising NL East title.

How do you feel about sending Jabari and Len to the Kings for Dedmon and 2 second round picks?

Love it. Dedmon is a better fit and Parker never had a future here.
